What about cows??? I would totally buy this pack if it had a cow head

I'm sad. I was planning on making a mini toon for pvp called Bull-E (just a mini bull toon using the bull head I saw teased about) but the name is taken on Freedom. I do have El Chihuahua though so I guess I will just have to be happy with a mini dog toon instead of a little bull.

I'm in the same boat. Those are some really fine quality pieces by the looks of it, but I really can't think of a single character I would use them on ...

Nah, can't be something rational like that. The devs and especially marketing hate us and hold back cool stuff just to spite us. It's the only sane explanation.

Any images removed probably are not approved and so may or may not provide an accurate representation of the finished product. We get enough misconceptions from vague information I can understand preventing further misinformation from unapproved information.

Lots of people then talked about what they wanted in an animal pack and I posted numerous photos of animals who all had fluffy tails similar to wolves. I don't recall how many animal pictures I posted, but it was more than a dozen. And then suddenly Jay creates this fluffy wolf tail and it's stuck into the pack at the last minute. David even said Jay whipped it up in a few days. That one addition almost certainly boosted sales of that pack far beyond what they would've been, based on the number of people who said they were now going to drop $10 just to get the tail.

That's an example of a thing added to a pack at the last minute. I'll bet money that they're watching these threads closely and have added a few things based on feedback. There have been a lot of good ideas which would be relatively painless and easy to add without a great deal of extra work, such as a few different ear styles or beak styles. I also like the ideas people have had about fish and frog heads. I'd totally make a character based around those, and a frog wearing a hat? Are you kidding me?

So yes, they can absolutely make this pack far bigger -- GIGANTIC, even -- by holding off a couple more weeks and adding more coolness to it.
That people were pissed at the mutant pack was their own fault for, yet again, reading way more into public statemens than what was actually there.

Also the wolf tail wasn't whipped up specifically for the Mutant pack after the complaints. It was already finished for some future project (the current booster perhaps?) and was pulled from there and added to the mutant pack to appease the whiners. (And then there were still a number that complained that PS only did it to earn a quick buck on the backs of the poor, neglected anthro fans.)

liking werewolves is not a furry "thing". making a whole server full of cat girls is another thing altogether.
Meh, My mother once got a complaint from my kid brother's first grade teacher that he was "overly cheerful, laughed to much and hummed to himself".

I don't see how Positron saying "animal parts makes sense for the mutant pack" at Comic-Con and then on the forums made it the players' fault for expecting something like, you know, animal parts in the mutant pack.

Maybe that's true, but David's comment about Jay creating it in just a few days *after* all the complaints about the Mutant Pack and *after* people posting about Positron's comment and *after* I posted all those tail pictures seems coincidental. If he says that's what happened, I'll believe him. But you saying it? No way.

I agree. I was at Comic-Con a year ago and personally heard this. I made it a point to talk to Positron and specifically asked him if we could get the existing animal-themed sets completed (like a bull head to match the existing hooves, an insect head to match the existing feet and wings, etc). His response was that I should be pleased with the mutant booster when it comes out. Now, while that was not an outright promise that the mutant pack would be animal themed, it certainly gave that impression to me. From the feedback I saw when the mutant pack came out, I wasn't the only one to get that impression.

I think its nice that the devs have listened to the feedback from then and decided to build a proper animal themed pack. I've already reserved a couple of names for characters that I plan to build once it comes out.

See, Ironik... David did not say any such thing.
I recall having this exchange with others in the past (And I'm sure it'll happen again).
No one ever said that they whipped up the wolf tail after the feedback on the Mutant Booster.

Here's the actual quote from June 2010:

In fact, how about THIS WEEK. Jay built a snazzy new animated tail, and though we were originally planning to release it later as part of a different set, the schedule’s been moved up, and you’ll now have access to it as a bonus in the soon-to-be-released Mutant Pack. Here’s a pic, and (barring any technical glitches) you can start playing with the new tail on the Training Room on Friday, along with the other tails and weapon that missed the last build.

Cheers,
David

I don't disagree with anything you say here.
Based on the little we know... They had plans to make some stuff that at least included a wolf tail (see the quote in my above post) and it is quite possible that it may have been on the table as the Mutant Booster and then was shifted to a later pack... Or it is possible that Posi just mistook the plans.

Their plans and what they are designing and working on go pretty far into the future of the game. As a possible example of this point, the Animal Pack that we're all expecting soon was possibly being worked on in June 2010 (the set that Jay was making the tail for... which was then thrown into the Mutant Booster).
Things get changed, names get changed, plans swapped and all that... So, it's easy to imagine how someone on the team could get mixed up and/or not be up-to-date and misspeak when hoping to give the players a bit of a happy insight of things to come.
I'd rather the team misspeaks now and then, instead of dead silence so as to never make any mistakes, hehe.

That last bit is not directed at anyone in particular. I'm just thinking through type.

Wish they could get a hint, we want CLAWS dammit! What they could do is take the weapon slot for the normal claws and turn them into extensions of the hands, and have them auto set to be always on. Yeah the animations would be restricted with those claws (maybe just at-first), but dammit, we would at-least get them.

Claws would be good not just for the animal pack, but demons and other monsters would probably LOVE integrating them into their costumes.

Just a thought, maybe they fell behind and didn't get it done in time. Add the perhaps larger amount of content they might be putting in, and it might not have jived as an origin pack.

Heh, never knew Positron actually said that at comic-con. That's a pretty big oops if he indeed did say that.

I've been hunting for the forum posts for the past 15 minutes but can't seem to find them. All I know is that from reading those posts I never got the impression actual animal parts were promised. More the opposite. Only that in the absence of actual animal parts some people might be satisfied by pieces of the mutant pack. And since that interpretation seems to have been the correct one ...

It was in the announcement post for the addition of the tail by David himself, look for it.

Edit: or read the post further back where it gets quoted.

And hey, I didn't say I agree with everything the fandom does. It's like some regular family that is constantly trying to forget the Hillbilly cousins that live far out and subside off of beer, beer, dead bear and 'keeping it in the family'
