Year 7 needs a video... but what?

I like the idea of focusing on the number Seven - and there's quite a lot you can do with that, not just the deadly sinZ but also Pillars of Wisdom, Magnificent, Wonders of the Whirled, Heaven, Hell, Days of the week, hills of Rome, ages of man, principle Wombles, year itch, of Nine, Brides for Brothers, Samurai, Dwarfs, seas, years in Tibet, little girls sitting in the back seat hugging and akissing with Fred... etc

Year 7 needs a Sesame street Trailer, try and feature a pinball game in somewhere; then we could all join in 12345... 67 Seven the number seven. Muhahahahahah

I must admit, my first thought was All of the bugs that are STILL in game. But that would not make anyone want to join the game.

A collection of 'oops' moments. possibly.

You could use the Radio in Port Oakes and do a "Top 7 at 7" type countdown, and have it be the seven greatest hero missteps (or mistakes), and highlight the "oops" moments from the last seven years...

I'm willing to voice the radio for you if you like. Been a while, but I'm sure I could re-create it again.

Building off the Vanguard Pack, I'd suggest something akin to the old cheesy recruitment videos of old... They have a serious tone and footage, but then transition to some of the more quirky moments in the game.

I haven't have enough morning coffee to get into too much detail, but:


"Join Vanguard"


"Defend the City, Defend the World"
(start with Levantera/Borea RWZ and Apex battles... end with scenes of Fusionette pulling mobs to obviously-unprepared team of heroes. )

"Team With Others of Incredible Power"
(Serpent Drummer or Tin Mage recruiting a team VERY different characters... from the obvious 4-color hero to Mister "SkullsandDarkityDarkDeath" types. ("recruiting" is done by walking along a line of heroes and pointing to individuals, like he's selecting the members of his task force. The last character "selected" is Fusionette, with that, the rest of the team shows despair/facepalms.)

"Rescue the Defenseless"
(Rescue The hostages mission... heroes free General AArons, point to the exit. Gen AArons runs to the next mob and starts pistol whipping them, team facepalms)

"Take the fight to the enemy"
(Tin mage task force)... haven't done it so can't add any quirks


"Work together as a team"
(Gaussian, followed by Gaussian's arc full of infighting)

"Expose Dark Secrets"
(Dark Watcher standing stoically)
Character a: "It's a Nemesis Plot" with dramatic flair.
Character b c d: continue to casually drink soda, tea, and enrich, munching on donuts
"When ISN'T it a Nemesis plot"

etc...

The 7 year itch.

A Sam Spade type gumshoe wanders the City.

You have been playing the game since Issue 1 and as the years went by the City grew more familiar. The itch for change hits again you and you realize the game has changed so much from what it once was.

How about several different 'Top 7' lists.

Top 7 favorite zones, costumes, missions, auras, powers, villains, etc...

Background music: I'm Alive by ELO. It's what the Muse Sisters danced to in Xanadu and it's thumbing its nose at all those who said CoH was dying over the years.

How about *ME*, Quantum Evil, saving the world from a combined attack by Praetoria, Hamidon (both dimensions), Rikti and Shiva only to sell it on the Galactic Auction House for 3 inf and a wakie.

My suggestion is to get with seven player characters who have been around since Issue One, and spotlight them from an in-character perspective, highlighting what each has done for Paragon City and beyond. Instead of having to choose between "drama" or "comedy", this would allow you to employ multiple moods throughout the video. Some of the characters could be treated more seriously, while others could provide us with comic relief.

Later expansions would prevent you from using villain or Praetorian characters (since they came after Issue One), BUT you could showcase heroes who have moved to the Isles, or who have gone off to explore the strange new world of Praetoria--to join the war, perhaps, on one side or the other.

Since this suggestion would require working with members of the community, it would indeed be about players coming together!

Whatever you do, I'm looking forward to it. I hope you'll please resist the urge to compare the value of your work with that of the official videos. They are excellent for what they are-- snappy, brief affairs that cover all the points at a minimum. Your videos are often much more subjective, pulling us into another world for a few minutes. Yours get more replays by far.

I think you should focus on catgirls and dancing. Nothing but catgirls and dancing both in Paragon and Praetoria. And Bobcat's cleavage since that is a primary part of catgirl lore.
