How would evolving change the name of the guy who originally became the monster?

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

The same way that the mirrors of Primal heroes have different names, I suppose.
Why would the "mirror" monsters have the same name, if the "mirror" heroes don't?
It's because of what each society has labeled them... If you are trying to say that Praet Hami is a completely different type of monster, the question for me becomes; Why would two mirrored but separate societies come up with the same name for "different" monsters?

Like I said, if you want to say Praet. Hami is another form of the same genus, that would be more logical to me.

That is all.

Ummm, are you overlooking that in both cases they're called The Hamidon because they are the highly mutated form of Hamidon Pasalima, the scientist who became "The Hamidon"? After all, Hamidon's hardly the only "person" to go by the same name in both worlds.

Also, Hamidon is a pokemon, and the Praetorian version had a much better trainer and more time.

No, not overlooking anything of the sort.
I'm just saying it doesn't work for me.
I freely admit that it is a matter of my own perception.
It still doesn't work for me.
That is all.

But isn't Hamidon what Hamidon (and the DE) calls itself, since thats his name.

Scrapper or not, GG, you're gonna need a bigger team than just yourself to fight THAT thing.

It's a naming convention. Hamidon didn't get a fancy nickname, he's just the leader of the Devouring Earth. Unlike Cole who gets Statesman for the Primal version or Emperor Cole/Tyrant for the Praetorian version but he's still Marcus Cole under the pseudonym. He just doesn't have much imagination when it comes to disguise names.

Well the posters showing the Hamidon threat shows a being with tentacles. Maybe Hami looks a bit different in Praetoria Earth.

Just spent a full day/night cycle circling Nova looking at the trees, nothing.

I won't say it's NOT true, but the LIKELIHOOD of the picture's truth is masked in doubt and perhaps a RNG roll on the encounter.

Much like the Praetorian versions of Calvin Scott and Infernal, just to cite two examples.

Still, i guess they could've named him Cuddlevine in an homage to the original Goatee/Evil Mirror version of Praetoria.

I have to agree. While that is a cool picture and very well may be something the Praetorian Hamidon had a hand in creating it is not Hamidon.. Not unless the Praetorian version of Hami is a LOTdifferent looking than he is in the Hive or the Abyss. I have battled him in both and trust me there were no tentacles involved.. Picture a giant green jello mold with yellow, blue and green slices of fruits inside

It actually does look much more like the Hydra Tentacles you face in the Abandoned Sewer Trial and now in mission one of the Apex TF. Of course
the Clockwork got a whole new look in Praetoria so who is to say the the DE couldn't have something similar... and I do seem to recall that there were some sort of DE tentacles located in some of the deep cracks located in Faultline. They looked a lot like Hydra tentacle beasts too but were definately Devouring earth.

I wonder if this is something we can look forward to battling in the future though. We have been sort of promised more content in Praetoria and even content above level 20.

NO WAIT WAIT! We have space Aliens, we have people being raised from the dead by space aliens... OMG the game is gradually evolving into... PLAN 9 FROM OUTERSPACE!

We must be on the look out for anyone resembling Bela Lugosi wandering around the graveyards with his arm up in front of his face and constantly chasing scantily clad females. Okay technically walking along behind them at a pace so slow he never actually catches them but the man was dead long before the movie was complete so who can blame him for moving so slow LOL

I wonder if Praetorian Hamidon does Praetorian Hamidon damage. Would our Devouring Earth buffs become "Primal Essence of the Earth" in comparison to a new "Praetorian Essence of the Earth"?

Actually, the Praetorian Hami IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PRIMAL HAMIDON.

I quote Tyrant's Bio(from Paragon Wiki):

Quote:
This challenge was what Cole was destined for. Not wishing to see more of his Praetorian Guard killed, he faced off alone against the beast. The battle was brief, and at first, indecisive. Cole's attacks damaged the creature, but the same physiology that had rendered it immune to a half-dozen nuclear weapons was able to deal with Cole's powers. Likewise, Cole was too tough for the flailing tentacles and claws of the monster to do much to him other than swat him around. Desperate to kill the beast, Cole called upon a reserve of energy he had not ever suspected lay within him and unleashed a devastating bolt of power that nearly laid the beast low. Now Cole had its undivided attention
You can see on the GR Website that Praetoria's Hamidon has claws and tentacles.
It could not be the Hydra, for the tentacle came from THE MIDDLE OF THE TREES that surround Praetoria. If you fly high enough you can see that most of the land is covered by a huge forest. Also, quoting the Paragon Wiki:

Quote:
The alien Rikti created the Hydra to guard their secret bases beneath the city. It seems programmed to attack anything that isn't Rikti. Heroes must stop this creature from growing any larger and threathening the city as a whole.
Well, since there were no Rikti in Praetoria,it could not be Hydra.

So what can we conclude from all this? Well obviously, Hamidon used to be a Forerunner, he has now turned himself in the Gravemind, scared off the Rikti who were really members of the covenant which is why they did not invade Praetoria, and Positron and Antimatter are obviously Spartans who hunt members of the flood!

CITY OF HEROES HAS BEEN THE HALO MMO THIS ENTIRE TIME!!!
I'll go get my Needlers.

Now for my own crazy theory...

Praetoria is in the same setting as Assassin's Creed. Hamidon and Cole both have Pieces of Eden (which are the TRUE source of this 'Incarnate' business, certain pieces just lets the Ones Who Came Before take control of their users) and (most of) Cole's people are actually all Templars.
Now here's the real kicker: Most of the Resistance are ALSO Templars. Assassins are scattered throughout and between the different factions.
Which one is an Assassin? That's just part of the game.
