And surely it makes more sense to do it for a whole month as ppls sub times can come outside that 14 day period. It being so far before Xmas is just so you can divvy up the Xmas bonus enit!
Heh, too funny, I logged into my NC account last night to see if they'd re-implemented the 12+2 deal this year. As I sub to this game annually, this is a no brainer for me. The 12 month price is an excellent value as-is ... throw in two freebie months, and it's a downright bargain.

I'm wondering if the"store" will work better for this than it does when new packs get released. I watched and saw people were having a heck of a time getting the new Origins Pack for quite a while after it was released. Can any Red Names comment on whether the store has been fixed yet? It really would be disappointing if people missed out on this AND the one day "Cyber-Sale" because you didn't do something.
I hope the additional awards apply to 6month and 12 month alike cos euro don't get a 12 month option. Also what kind of rewards?

First, it's a win for you obviously, because you're getting a great discount on your game time. As I stated in another post, the 12 month price is already a good bargain. Two extra freebie months makes it a heckuva deal.
Second, companies actually prefer their clients to prepay in advance, even when doing so allows the customer to buy at a discount. There's a saying in business: Cash is King. Without getting into the math of it, there's a concept known as time value of money. Getting $143 from you today for a year's sub time, versus $15 monthly for the same period, actually works out the same (or better) for NC -- that extra influx of cash from long term subs is used to reinvest in the company to generate more sales/revenue/profit. This is without even considering when they get a player for a year who previously paid monthly, there's no risk now the player will cancel during that year period.
Overall, there's ample monetary incentive for NC/Paragon to offer this deal, and that's largely why they're offering the promotion. Getting as many people buying annual and semi-annual subs is better for the game's bottom line.

I'll stick to my month-to-month - unless a Red name states that the leveling pacts survive now. Didn't in the past.

Simply cancel your existing annual sub (don't worry, the game remains playable until whatever date you've prepaid until). Then, next Monday, 're-sub' with the new promo option. Since you've already prepaid until August/2011, you get charged nothing now. When your sub renews next August, it will then subsequently run until October/2012. However, between now and August/2011, you can cancel or amend your sub option at any time (although, will lose the promotional deal if you do). Hence, no risk. Great deal.
Clear as mud?
Edit to add clarification: my analysis above is assuming payment by credit card. I've never paid via Paypal, but it's my understanding Paypal payments are processed immediately.

EDIT : Checking the wiki there is nothing about cancelled billing screwing up level pacts, only accounts going inactive. This is a pretty good indicator right there that you are mistaking your terms.

So, my 3 month sub re-ups on Feb 9, so I won't get a 4 month? Damn.
oh this blows, I just continued my sub 3 days ago and I have been on the 6 month plan since last time they did this! How is it I get screwed out of it this time, by a week!

I *think* if you pay via Paypal it works the same way, except that your payment is collected immediately, not at your next renewal date. Perhaps someone who pays via Paypal can chime in and confirm, or clarify.
In either case, I'm pretty sure you can still avail yourself of the offer, even though your semi-annual sub just renewed a few days ago. I pay annually, and my sub expires in June/2011. But, I cancelled my billing plan tonight, and next Monday, I'll 're sub' with the promo 12+2 offer -- when my credit card gets dinged in June/2011, my sub will then extend to August/2012.

Pass. I'd be really mad to buy this now then find out sometime in 2011 that the game was going F2P - or worse. I'm also not convinced this game will be getting the level of support and ongoing content development that it needs (and used to have) in light of recent staff changes.

I'd still like clarification from a red-name. I don't want to cancel my subscription. I'm on the one-year auto-renew plan, and I would be happy to purchase another year to get the 2 months free, but I'm not going to cancel my subscription to do it.
This deal sucks and I'll explain my reasoning:
1) Anybody who gets the deal now, at least the one year with 2 free months deal, will be screwed out of the deal at this time next year.
Because....
A) Next year they will be on the 2 free months when the deal comes around again which means they can't cancel to get the new deal because it will remove at least one of those free months if not all remaining time past the 12 months.
B) They'll still have the same question next year of "how do I get this deal since my account expires after the deal ends?" and "can I get this without canceling my sub?" and apparently no company representative will bother posting to clarify these points, maybe because they like confused customers because they spend more when they don't need to.
2) You can't cancel your subscription before it is up or you lose the free months.
I'm betting this means they will bill you for the next 12 month cycle when the twelve months are up then give you the 2 free months with no way to change to another plan.
You're essentially locking yourself in for 2 years and 2 months in order to get 2 free months.
Maybe it's just that the wording of this deal is completely screwy, but I don't like it.
If you're going to do this deal give people the free month(s) up front and they'll still be locked in until the 7 or 14 month period is up and they can change the subscription at any time if their financial situation changes.
I can't afford such a long plan myself because I have to watch my finances month to month to be sure I'll have enough for necessities, let alone a game.
It just makes more sense to make these deals better for the customer to keep them coming back rather than to line your pockets while cheating the confused customer out of a deal.
However, you might want to wait for a redname post on exactly how that works. I think your time gets added and your renewal date gets moved to September (after the free month, if you buy a 6 month sub), but I'm only about 85% sure, so I think some clarification is needed.
