Okay, then set a one-time payment, via PayPal, to add the one year + 2 months next week. That is, if you want to pay for it now.

Otherwise, set it next week to the one year + 2 months setting, and you'll be charged for it when your next billing cycle occurs in February.

And after you get the promotion (in IAmTheRad's case, February), the player can then change the subscription type to something else. However only do so AFTER the subscription renews with the "new" plan.

Example using IAmTheRad:
IAmTheRad chooses the 12+2 offer. In February, the plan is billed. Before his plan expires in April 2012, IAmTheRad can change billing to another plan, switch to paypal, or whatever.

This is because once you PAY for the 12+2, the system will say that you are on a 12-month plan. If that is not the case, change it just before the time expires.

Q1) If I have time remaining on my subscription, how can I take advantage of this offer?

A1) Starting at 9:00AM EST, on November 29th, 2010 through 11:59PM EST, December 13th, 2010, log into your NCsoft account management page. There will be a clickable banner ad promoting this opportunity. If you click on it, it will take you to a page where you can change your payment plan without cancelling your account.

Q2) When will I be charged for the new plan?
A2) This is a payment plan. You only pay when the billing cycle comes to renew again. So there is no payment required to select the promo payment plan.

Q3) If I’m set to auto renew in between the dates of the promotion, will I get the benefit?
A3) No. However, during the time of the promotion, you can reselect your billing plan and get the bonus time.

Q4) What are the steps we should take if we want to take advantage of this deal?
A4) See Question 1. There is no URL beforehand that you can go to.

Q5) If I got the bonus gametime during the last promotion, am I eligible for this new promotion?
A5) Yes, you are.

Q6) Do I need to cancel my plan in order to take part in this promotion?
A6) While the bonus gametime promotion is active, you do not need to cancel your subscription plan in order to take part in the offer. Clicking on the banner ad in your account management page will allow you to select a new plan without cancelling your subscription plan.
Why is the 12 month offer only available in North America?

This is starting to look like you guys are flipping of the EU, AGAIN, no box set, US only Enhancements and now this.

Remind me again, why do I pay for a game I have not played for a couple of months (work reasons but still), when the guys running teh game seem intent of screwing us?

Thanks but definitely no thanks.
eh, even if the game were to follow the trend and go f2p, most f2p play options are severely limited in relation to the "gold" member level stuff. ftp is a heavily equivocated demo, so when i buy this(will be the third of these that i get, will set me up till mid 2012) i really am not that concerned about the f2p bugbear, because i'd stay at the highest level of membership that i could get anyhow, and this is just a financially efficient manner to do so.

based on how other games are handling it, f2p coh might have just 1-2 costume slots and a few character slots, might even lock off some powersets if it follows the standard model. and that wouldn't be a form of the game that I would be particularly enthusiastic to play.

heck, thus far, when games go f2p they give the vet subscribers something extra, so bring it on

This is the only game I've ever played that I feel is worthy of the $15/month I pay (plus the cost of all the boosters), and it's due to this that I want to support them as best I can*, which I've done so far by keeping two accounts active...

... But, I think I'm gonna go ahead and switch my main account over to the year-plus-two-free-months plan this go 'round, while keeping my second account on the month-to-month plan in case I ever get strapped for cash (like I did when I got bumped down to part-time for 3 months) and have to cancel something.

*That said, I'm not buying the Party Pack. Bad marketting department, no cookie!
I agree with you on feeling this game is worthy of the cost. Yet, I'd like to point out that if you paid a full year in advance, they would actually make more money off of that rather than paying $15.00 a month.

By paying just $15. They only get $15. Now if you were to pay the $143.20 for the year. The can then take the $11.95 monthy out for the 1st month then earn interest for the remaining money. Now this will not create, millions of additional monies earned from you individually, but say just 10% of the core base does a yearly renewal. (This is all speculative mind you)......

Say there are 100k players; 10% get yearly subs.

That means that they, (they being Paragon Studios and NCSoft), just got $1,432,000 up front. Just sitting in the bank.

Now say they make 5% interest, after the 1st month is taken out ($119,500). That leaves $1,312,500 with 5% interest which turns into $65,625 interest earned.

Now I know that is a "perfect ideal" and more than likely not 100% accurate, but I promise it is pretty close. Of course I am not throwing in figures such as overhead into the mix. But still if more of us were willing and of course able to do the yearly sub, that would benefit the game more so than a month sub would.

But for now, I can only do a monthy as it would be to straying to pay the year upfront.

Funny thing is, I'm on the annual pay plan and my monthly cost still averages out to $17/mo because of the Booster Packs*. So I'll be signing on for their bonus plan on Monday and it will go into effect somewhere around October.

And just so you folks know, it doesn't take that payment out now (well for some it might,) it charges you when your plan renews.

(*Except for the Party Pack, at 50% off, it's still twice what I'm willing to pay.)

Nice work, people. No change to the PlayNC pages and certainly no promotion running.

This would actually be a massive mistake for CoH, and would be a *worse* way for them to go, being a smaller game, they *need* the sub revenue. I also have it on fairly good authority DCUO will likely use the same standard MMO sub model, so I don't think you're going to see it "forcing a change" in CoH. CO did this to avoid dying in the face of DCUO, that, or they were already bleeding out so bad, it was a last-ditch to save the game. There's a good chance in 12 months or so, CO will be gone anyway, along with Cryptic as an MMO developer.

Strange, I logged in at 5AM local time (Hawaii) to see if there were any deals not listed and they all showed up just fine for me. That would make it 10AM Eastern so you should have been able to see the deals by the time you posted this.

Yep, worked fine for me, around 7:30 a.m. PST -- converted my annual sub to 12+2. No brainer for me. Out of curiosity, even though I own all the boosters, I also checked the NC Store, and all the boosters previously indicated in the dev announcement were on sale, 50% off.

Interesting. That hasn't been there once for me today (I've visited multiple times) and yet it is there now. Thanks for the assist, folks.

My apologies if this is considered a thread-jack. I have used what pitiful measures that I know to find someone to contact who may be involved in the decision that led me to this posting. This is the most recent thread that I can find with a post from Black Pebble, who is the only Red Name that I know of in marketing. I would just like to say that the following quote is what I received when I was prevented from taking full advantage of the Cyber Monday.

[Quote]
As a security measure we limit individual online serial code purchases. We apologize for the inconvenience. [Unquote]

As a result, my wife was unable to receive two of the four booster packs that I had intended to buy for us both. I can assure whoever wrote this response that your apology is most definitely not accepted. With both of us having been 100% loyal to this game for 54 consecutive months, we felt that it should be obvious by now that we are not a security risk.

For those of you who, by my past experience, have stated, and probably will again, that I should get over myself: You are welcome to your opinion. I find it sad that you feel that I am not welcome to mine, nor that I have any right to express it without your derision.

Chained Bulldog level 33 Stalker on Liberty
Cobalt Blue Knight level 32 Scrapper on Guardian
Drone Keeper level 32 MM on Champion
Glacier Force level 28 Tanker on Justice
and 7 nearly full servers of alts waiting their turns.

Actually ChainedBulldog, I think you will find that most of the posters here agree with you. Paragon Studios/NCsoft needs to do something about their jacked up store. They have needed to do this for a while and seem to keep ignoring it instead.

Yeah I had same issue a few years back something to do with several purchases over same IP, even though I have both passwords and all the account info. This was at the full price mind you. I sent a complaint and it still took 30 days before she was able to get said item and I never even got a; we are sorry email from them.

I have a suspision that NCSoft is completly in charge of the store and Paragon Studios has no control over NCSoft's protective measures; (remember NCSoft started in Korea first and there are a lot more pirating/ privacy scams over there than here and that could be the reason..... not to justify, just making comment)

It sucks, however, I hope your wife still gets it at the Cyber Monday price later down the road if it takes them awhile to fix it. If not, I'd raise holy heck about it.

Good Luck!

Do they normally run this promo around this time? ie, end November-early December?

If so I will try to adjust my account so it auto-renews during that period anyway, and then I won't have to do an annual cancel/re-sub (that only works for the first year anyway, since if you cancel any time during the re-enlist period you lose the free months).

If anyone has advice on when they 'usually' run this (I assume it is not a fixed policy) please let me know.

Thanks much!

Too many alts to list
Every server but Pinnacle
Black Belt in Altoholism, Master of Indeterminancy
(although how it got in nancy I've no idea...)

To my recollection, this is the third time in as many years that they've run this promo. It's always been associated with this time of year, although (and I cannot recall with certainty), they may have offered it last summer when That Other Superhero MMOG was released.

I've availed myself of the 12+2 each time -- it's a great bargain, you get this game essentially for 10 bucks a month.

Yup. Here it comes, be prepared. You ready? Good.

This is for your own security, and the security of your credit card information, it is not a personal slight against you, that's simply how it is. I personally had to use 2 different cards and paypal besides to get all the stuff I wanted. While it'd be great if NC had a better system, that's not PS's fault, it's NCSoft's fault, their store and authorization systems are quite antiquated, and while I'd like to see it updated, that's on them to do. Taking it as a personal slight is...well over-reactionary and just...lame. Everyone knows this happens everytime they do something like this. I doubt BP has any more control than anyone else, and this is a high-up web-design/corporate issue. It's also a known fact Aion is a massive security hole that has caused at least one friend of mine to have their CoH account hacked (through the NCSoft link to the other games). Said friend was only in the Aion beta for about a week, and hasn't touched it since.

There's a lot of issues they could stand to look into, but the security denial is for your own protection, as annoying as it is...

1) Auto-renewing wouldn't get you this promotion even IF it was in place, it has to be something you manually decide to do.

2) There'd be no way to "time it" since the 2 free months throws you into March regardless.

3) You don't have to cancel to select it, as clarified by BP earlier in this thread.

Personally I just did a one time paypal charge, and don't technically have a "subscription" now. It just means that it doesn't sneak up on me in 12 months and hit me for 150 bucks without my realizing it....twice.
