I'm REALLY tempted to sign up and then consign the inf to the 88's base-heating furnace.

disclaimer: I also give away a lot of inf to the needy- I keep an eye out as I roam the forums and when I see a sincere candidate I ask for their global and send them a bag full of cash.

good on you, however I don't have the time to look for worthy players, instead I'll just give it to anyone that asks.

You can burn 1 million, 10 million, 100 million, or all your Inf (rounded down to the nearest million), if I recall correctly.

The point of this project isn't to educate, inspire, influence or train.
it is simply a pressure release for people that say " I can't afford anything in this game"
now you can buy all the SOs your toon can hold no muss no fuss just ask.

There are people who can play this game to level 50, and not have 5.7 million to afford SO's? lol You'd think at that level they should no longer have to be considered beginner's? I know if I join a level 50 team, I don't expect to have to teach other 50's basic game mechanics like what their powers do, or how to get to Peregrine Island from Steel Canyon etc.
Even if you got to 50, and had absolutely no SOs, and whatever enhancements you had were obsolete, how long does it take a "cruddy" level 50 to make 6 million inf? Even if you couldn't play all that much, and did a few missions per day... Even vendoring all your Generic 50 IO recipes at a vendor gives you about 100k a shot. I'm gonna hazard a guess, and say that even a time constrained 50, solo, could make that almost 6 million inf in like three days of playing with vendoring recipes, mission complete bonus, and enemy defeats. Find a large size team, on a good difficulty, and it comes even quicker. This is a problem? The game is built around SO's as a baseline, so pretty much anything can be tackled by an SO'd toon, and be possible to win either solo, or as part of a team. 3 days(likely less, but whatever), and minimal effort to SO a 50, who for some reason didn't have any money, or a clue how the market works seems like a non-issue to me.

I'd guess that maybe 5% or less of the people in the game haven't yet realized that it is easy to make money in CoH just by selling your drops at WW, or getting what you want for cheap(er) by being patient, and that SO'ing a toon is in no way a financial challenge.

This is awesome, add me to the other list -- the list of people who will chip in if this turns expensive.
It does seem odd that a player hitting 50 would have such a problem. It seems more likely that they would run in to problems at 22 than 47.
After all, 3 or 4 pieces of rare salvage, just selling at the last 5 price would cover this amount currently. Before I started using the market I had a toon hit 22 on a double XP weekend and he literally did not have enough money to slot. I bought what I could and then got on a 50 team andsome rare salvage dropped, imprevium I think. That was the end of his money troubles.
By the time he was in danger again, I was doing ok just selling drops and the like. Not the point of the thread I know, so I will kick some funds if you need it as well.

Ya sure, you give ppl the cash, they SO their one toon, but they are still as clueless about the game as they were before. The only difference now, would be they would have an okay toon that they didn't even have to devote effort to in order to enhance. They would most likely be in the same boat the next time they get another toon to 50 - wondering how in the world they would ever get 5.7 million to afford SOs, besides you know...just playing the game for a few days, and saving up. ;-)

If I said no to money, I'd be insane. I got no AoEs 
My first toon to 50, over 400 hours leveling, ended up with around 29million influence at 50. Just from selling dropped SOs to vendors. I ended up giving most of that away to alts or friends.
As a player who runs events and funds them with my own inf, I always sort of cringe when people talk about things like the 88s or burning inf just for fun. I am by no means poor when it comes to fake money in the game but a the same time when I see people burning spare inf just because I always think, "Why not just donate it to PvPEC or PERC or someone who is running server events to benefit the player base as a whole".
TL/DR = Free inf for the asking.
So after reading Blue Centurion's thread about the game being too hard, and the Auction House is an evil and scary place I thought what could I do?
I was told long ago "you can lead a ***** to water but you can't make her think. "
So educating the people on how to use the Auction House is right out.
at first I thought I'll list all my SO drops for 1 inf on the market, but then realized that people would have to face the market interface to take advantage so that is a no go.
But I still feel bad for all the people that can't afford the basics to play the game as intended. So here is the short and sweet of it.
If you are down our your luck, need a helping hand and can't figure out how to make it in the big scary game, I'll help.

Will people take advantage of this? I would bet far more that 5.5 million they will! do I care? not really. if I help one player stay in the game knowing that all his enhancements are covered this whole project will be worth it.
How long will I keep this up? well I am starting this project with 1 billion and will fund in a small percent of my earnings to the project after that. I am guessing a good long while.
any questions or comments are welcome but please don't chastise anyone asking for help.
