I would definitely like some of those pieces in the costume creator.

Characters:

- Dawnshift (50 Peacebringer/Virtue)

I wonder if that dark blue behind his head is the background between his shoulder amror, or a gigantic superpowered afro haircut?

Yeah, my Empath not only gets the boost from inherenet Stamina (she has no fitness pool atm) but she can also slot for end-red, healing AND stun all in one (Empath/Psi). She's gonna be quite badass by the time this is over

Alpha, though...NOT a clue what I'll put in him...Bots/Traps MM, so...Damage, maybe? since Inherent stamina will let me take his attacks again....uhm....hm. *ponder*

I'm hoping it's the background of the character creator.

I would have guessed the Spiritual tree for mega-super-recharge trappage.

That costume has me intrigued, and the hospital looks wonderful!

I think we may have a winner. And agreed.

Yep, hard to imagine a Bots/Traps (or heck ANY Traps character) who wouldn't want a 30% global recharge boost (or a little more if you underslot your powers slightly) .

If they're actually a replacement for existing warehouse maps, and have layouts like actual warehouses instead of a maze skinned to look like a warehouse, then I think it's FANTASTIC, and I hope we'll be seeing replacements for offices and labs soon (the Praetorian labs are better, but still feel slightly random).

I was wondering if they were the solution to Praetorian missions sending us to Primal warehouses. I'd like to think we're just getting more maps in general (or even more variations like the Posi TF and the halloween tip), but I wouldn't be suprised if it was something to fill the Praetorian warehouse void.

To be fair looks almost exactly the same as the current warehouses.
I liked the offices of Praetoria.

Conclusion leaping is fun.

I don't think I'd doubt our devs that much.

It says right on the preview sight that the basic Incarnate Shards can be crafted into "any". And the Gr'ai Matter listed as unknown has been mentioned many times as being craftable out of Vanguard merits.

Still plenty of room for further definition, but hardly "only come from task forces".

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

Yeah, if it's anything like the GR Beta, you can get shards to craft things. The problem is, If I remember correctly, you need something like 16 shards to get one of the common boosts and 32 shards to get enough for one of the uncommon boosts, and they don't drop very often. So building your way up to one of the rare ones without running TFs, is going to take a LONG Time.

Running it while doing TFs won't take as long, but it's going to be a grind.

But who knows, maybe they will change the drop rates or something. Personally I'm less than excited about the Alpha slot, since it seems like it'll be mostly just doing old content for new drops, but I'm more excited because it looks like going forward there will be more new content associated with the system, judging from the Mother of Mercy Hospital Trial etc.

As you note, drop rates can be easily altered, but do they necessarily need to be?

IIRC this is the new CoX endgame - it's not meant to be something that's done in 5 minutes then players get back to the usual moaning about nothing to do/whens the next issue...

If rare can be gained within a couple of months of casual gameplay (doing whatever you'd be doing without the new system, not grinding TFs) is that too slow/too fast or about right?

Define "a couple of months" in terms of hours played. 10? 50? 200?

In all my time playing since purple IOs were added to the game, I can count on my thumbs and big toes how many drops of those I've had. Yes, four. On four different characters, with none of the IOs of the same sort, so I couldn't email them to a single character for him to use. If it's like that, a lot of us casual players will struggle.

I'd be okay with some sort of trade-in scheme, where you have to exchange multiple regular salvage for a piece of Incarnate salvage, even if it's something onerous like 25 rare salvage pieces for one random Incarnate salvage piece.

Anyone with an iota of motivation would be Incarnated in about 30 seconds under that system.

Seriously. I can't believe anyone actually suggested that.

At that point they might as well not make an endgame, as players would run through that in a week.

Which is the EXACTLY opposite of the point of the Incarnates.

It's NOT something that's supposed to be done in a week.

But seeing as how folks STILL complain about Purples, I doubt some players will get they aren't supposed to be able to do everything in this game in a week.

Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!

that's what, 30-50 million per Incarnate salvage piece then? I'd have my whole stable of 50s outfitted in minutes.

Providing that such a system wouldn't put rare salvage prices through the roof.

Yeah, you're missing the point. I don't care that it takes a couple months, I care that it's going to take a couple months playing the same old content. It's a grind, and not even a new one. If we're running old arcs for shard drops or running old TFs for component drops, that's not new content, just new drops, thus the complaint about it being grindy.

Though honestly, if it takes a couple months to get reward boosts, that seems excessive to me, especially since they'd already told us the new TFs in I19 are going to be intended for people that have their incarnate gear already, it would be silly to make something that takes months of rehashing old content to get, before you could properly join in the new stuff.

I'm sure that going forward, the Devs will have new material with the incarnate system, just what they've shown of I20 and the Mother Hayhem hospital Trial, makes it clear that it's not all going to be a rehash of old stuff. But for now, the alpha slot appears to be exactly that, new loot, same old content for the most part, so people saying it's a bit "grindy" is justified.
