Walking Dead on AMC
The first half hour were better than the entirety of Red.

Loving it so far. \(OoO)/
See, with the right set-up, a door knob turning can be scary.

Break!
The baseball bat scene really hit home (no pun intended) with me. Over a year and a half after my lung collapse and surgery, I'm still frequently on my hands and knees, struggling to shut out the pain after pushing myself too hard.
Back on!

Be well, people of CoH.
The juxtaposition of Rick expressing sorrow to zombie torso woman was an excellent touch.
The lawn at the PD was too manicured, should have been much more overgrown. And they finally gave a rough time estimate, turns out that Rick had been in the hospital for more than one month.
Back on, and it looks like his wife, son and partner are all still alive!
I already hate Laurie. Though I never much cared for her in the comic either.
She could've at LEAST left Rick a note in their house. Sure, there's a good chance he'd never see it or come out of the hospital as anything but a deader, but still.
The relationship between the partner and wife didn't come as a surprise, but it works as a vehicle to bring in some more human drama later in the series. Can't argue with that.
Highway is congested with abandoned vehicles on the side leading away from Atlanta, but empty on the side leading into the city? I know what that means.
She's a floooooooooooooooooooooooozy!

Liking the show so far and mad props to these folks for showing that George Romero zombies---scratch that, Max Brooks zombies---can still be scary. that half-a-zombie on the yard was creepy.

Rick has got to have done the biggest DERP! in history. My word man. You see burned out cars all leaving the city with none on the incoming side and you decide that you are going to continue on in! That right there is a Darwin Award winner, without a doubt.
I enjoyed this show. Can't wait to see more!

Also, his driving concern is finding his family, who he believes to be in there. Of course he would check it out.

To be fair, he's still a n00b when it comes to thinking about the zombie threat.

It's the difference between asking if KO Blow is a Hold or if Blazing Bolt is a Hold.
Guess which end Rick falls on?
Yeaaaa.... I won't be missing a single episode. Strange being excited about something on tv again.
Be well, people of CoH.
To be fair, he did hear that there was a refugee camp with good protection in the city, but still:
1.) Big city, lots of people, ergo, lots of walkers
2.) The highway was another clue
3.) No radio contact heading into the city
Avoiding the city is a no-brainer.
This is a promising start.

Though I guess trying to get inside a building and climb stairs to the roof wouldn't be much better either.
Again, I don't need to think about these things. I'll be dead in the first wave anyways.

I knew Atlanta was going to be overrun, but that moment when Rick turned the corner... yeah, it got me. I was shouting at the screen, bouncing and squirming in my chair. GO! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! GET OUT OF THERE! AAAAHHHHH!
I also knew he wouldn't be killed off in the first episode (never read the comic, but if they killed him now, it'd be really difficult to explain his presence in clips from other episodes), but the tank scene was still highly suspenseful.
Outstanding beginning to the series. If it doesn't pull a Heroes, it's going to be hard for any subsequent horror film or television series to match it, much less top it.
I can't wait for next Sunday. I haven't been this excited about a television show since Deep Space 9.
Though seeing the zombie horde/crowd/etc in Atlanta... I've been playing too much L4D. I was thinking, "pipe bomb! Wonder if there's something nice and explosive nearby."
(Though I do have to agree with the "Think about what you're seeing/what's going on, man!" Never head to the hospital - that's where they take the sick ones first. Avoid the city. And you're going to a city that's a combination of both, with the CDC?!?)
Also, come on Rick. Dead Army (or National Guard) guy hanging from a flippin' tank. With a .50 cal MG nest abandoned right next to it? Not really indicitive of a happenin' hotspot for anything other than the walking stenches.
Edit - While I must give props to Dwayne and his pop for boarding up the windows, the fact that they were still staying on the ground/first floor of a two story house was pretty bad. I guess it comes from the Zombie Survival Guide that you don't stay down there. Hack up the stairs, put a retractable ladder there, and have a rope ladder out one of the windows for a quick getaway. The fact that they were smart enough to remember to douse the lights before looking out the window is also a bonus (something that the idiots in 30 Days of Night were apparently not intelligent enough to remember).
First commercial break after thirty minutes.
Fan-damn-tastic. A couple of very minor logical flaws, specifically the stop stick (an officer would have remained on site to retract or remove it) and the protagonist's awakening (he moved around too easily after spending days comatose and with a dried up IV), but everything else has been incredible.
The make-up and special effects teams should get awards for their work.
Break over! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
