can your annoying misson beat mine.

I was lvling my new MM(my first one) decided to take it hero cause thats where my sg is.

Its a knives of artimis tip misson in IP.

The caltrops make my pets run and not attack regardless of my comanding.

the Boss is a retsu stalker i think cause her heal animation is similar if not same. Also retsu is impposible to hit through and i was 2 hit kinda normal for a lvl 45 MM. Even though i am IOD.

USed a whole tray of purples to stay alive and still could do no dmg cause the pets keep running away.

Also the person i am to free and lead out has invis on so i cannot see her.

Also to lead her out is 5th floor of a crey type building.

best part is the misson is 2.2 miles from hospital. And i have no travel except tp and the end to get there requires me to rest halfway.

its called extract sister jocasta.

P.S. drop this isson if u can

No. I happen to find that mission reasonably easy. You can't see Jocasta? Look at your map. And you don't have to see her for her to follow you.

So here's a wild thought. Let them dump the caltrops on you, then *TP OUT OF THEM.* Gather the pets to you, put them in bodyguard, watch them kill everything while the caltrops sit uselessly on the floor.

Look at your slotting, and/or carry blues.

The Knives of Artemis predate Ninjitsu stalkers, or *any* stalker for that matter. Generally they're called the "Hand of Artemis."

Opinion: PEBKAC.

I think Silent Blade shows up in that mission (all the tips run together for me now so if I'm wrong so be it). And she is indeed a Kat/Nin. Not a stalker though, because NPCs don't do that so well.

"To reduce travel time, be in a zone such as Atlas or King's Row when accepting tip missions. They are much easier to get around.

Tip missions take place in the same zone they are taken in, with the exception of a select few that are hard coded to a specific zone."

If only that were true. I've seen plenty of missions send us to a completely unrelated zone. After Abandoning the mission and re-investigating it, the same mission pops up in yet another completely unrelated zone... and not usually any closer or easier to get to than the first one it was in. Those are usually the ones I just drop-complete and accept the free credit for. lol

I cant begin to tell you how much I hate this mission. The problem with the caltrops is that every single mob on the map drops caltrops. And they spam them non stop. It seems like after every attack, a new set of caltrops gets thrown on the floor, and the new set does not negate the set thrown before it by that same unit. I've seen entire hallways completely covered from side to side several layers deep, doing stupid amounts of autohit damage every second. I've gotten to the point where I will auto delete this tip the second it drops.

I don't think the Caltrops damage is auto-hit. The slow effect is, but not the damage. On a side note, as long as you have a Raptor pack, you should be able to easily free yourself from them by flying up and away.

If you stay in the air all the way through the fight this would work, but I think caltrops have -fly and -jump effects, so you can't fly or jump out of them once they've hit.

I frequently toggle on a flight pack to free myself. Caltrops have -runspeed and -jump, but not -fly.

Another solution is to use a confuse power on the trops tosser. If your secondary set has nothing for confuse, then you can always participate in a banner event and get the Seduction temp power. When she is confused, the caltrops will work against her and will not affect you.

This thread reminds of how every single Tsoo in the 15-20 level range used to spam caltrops like crazy. Even Sorcerers.

Well spirits didn't.

Well, that's a problem with your character; not the mission or zone. I can TP across Firebase Zulu or the length of Indpendence Port non-stop.

Or not. It's actually a pretty easy mission. I've soloed it on a number of different AT's with no problems.

Yes. Easily. But then i found that mission much easier to complete than reading your OP.

Honestly, if i'd had teleport on the alt that ran it last it would've been even easier than it was, but teleport doesn't fit the character's concept. Teleport and Hover/Fly are the two easiest methods of dealing with KoA, with Teleport being the leader in ease.

Of confuse. Confuse against KoA is hilarious.

No way. x8 all the way. I did that with my wp/em tanker. I think at one point I had -180% recharge.

Don't let the 1337 folks ("this mission is easy for me") get you down, OP, I completely agree about KoA for a MM, especially melee pets. They spam the trops so much there's almost nothing you can do with your pets.

Even for non-MMs, I avoid that mission.

The only thing that bothers me about that mission is that tips have no failure conditions. I had several tips with allies I had lead to an exit who got killed in an ambush but the mission wouldn't end. It's a very minor issue at best, yes, but it still seems awfully weird.

Good thing min. recharge is 25%

I'm pretty sure this is not the case. I regularly use Hover and Caltrops always sticks me to the ground.

Maybe there's a difference for activating a temp power vs. running a pool power, or something about the Temp Power you are using (I know there's at least one bugged temp travel power in game), but my experience sure doesn't match yours.

OTOH, I've never had that much trouble with Knives. There's less fleeing now in game, so my bots don't run away as much, and they seem to attack just fine. I'll try to find some Knives in a 'paper mish or something and test out the run-away behavior, but I don't think it stops my pets attacks completely.

Also, OTOH, I've seen similar behavior from NPCs who get slowed. The -Recharge really messes up the AI.

I'll have to test some more with other flight powers, but I can say with 100% certainty that toggling the Raptor Pack will free you from them with ease. I've done it countless times on several characters, and make a habit of advertising it to the team when we encounter such situations when it might be useful. I don't have "issues with KoA" either, but it's nice to move on to the next mob quicker anyway. lol

If you look at the power info for [Captrops] in-game, it does not mention -fly. If anything, you might have to make sure you are not pressing forward to move away until you are high enough to clear them. Other than that, I don't know why it wouldn't work for you.

Edit:
Just tested with standard Hover and Fly, and they both work also... without even having to go vertical first. You can even drag yourself right across them while flying and not be slowed by them one bit. As mentioned, the -speed is runspeed only. It does have -jump, but there is no -fly effect at all. Any flying power should work equally as well.

Someone has hit you with webnade if you can't fly.

Just checked Paragonwiki and LTs have webnades.

That's a good point. Web Grenades have -immob and -fly, and characters that have Immob protection will not see the Web graphic effect, but still be affected by the -Fly. It is possible that's why so many people think the Caltrops power has -fly when it really doesn't, and it explains gameboy1234's experience.

Edit:
And I just further verified that Silver Mantis' [Spike Trap] does not have -fly either and can be escaped by flying as well.

Meh, KoA are always annoying anyway, so that is no shocker. My brute is my main hero tip mission runner, and as he has hover/fly, the caltrops are a non issue. The annoying part to the mission, for me anyway, is that unless you kill everything on your way to rescue Jocasta, she will stop and attack them on the way out. Well that, and like almost all rescue/escort/kidnap missions, I have to go slooooow for her to keep up.

Just did this one on my 43 fire/ice/fire blaster. As others have said, hover is your friend here. I wouldn't call it easy but hardly a must drop. Bonfire helps a lot. Make sure you have a few purples for the end and the last ambush. OTOH I don't think I'd like to do it as a MM at all.
