Halloween Event; It's like the Jerk Store had a sale on their no. 1 all time best seller
I post on videos too... but you can't ignore the vast majority of the people posting are absolutely retarded (within given circumstances, obviously). You don't get too many trolls on a discussion between Richard Dawkins and Neil Tysson, it just doesn't happen that way.
But more often than not- trolls. They love their mudkips.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but Willpower sucks!!! you're better off rolling a regen

People who throw out insults so readily in the game are nothing more than cyberbullies. It's unfortunate as unlike traditional bullying, there is very little supervision online. Bullies and victims can hide the bullying and even if they report it there are very little consequences to it. At the very worst a closing of an account. I would say that this is a problem of kids, but I see adults engage in cyberbullying too.
I have to admit that I am somewhat mystified here...
Not by the complaints, but by what people have actually been doing.
Team ToT? Actually taking on the Deadly Apocalypse, not just ignoring it?
Wow... I feel entirely gypped.
Here I spend all weekend farming things solo, trying to find a team... and I can't find enough people in the zones to put together a full team.
Is this just the whole Red Side vs. Blue Side thing? Or is this an Under level 40 thing? Because my Brute was having no luck in the Rogue Isles...
Now all I need are Deadly Apocalypse badges (and the ones for the Unseelie, but I wouldn't be holding my breath over that one...) and I swear there is no way I'll be getting those any time soon...
(PS - for anyone ToTing in the Rouge Isles, 30-40 range - the doors inside the Golden Giza in St. Martial are an excellent place to do so. The doors in the hallways may look like double doors, but each side counts as a separate door for knocking, and you don't have to stop for any event outside...)
-This Space Intentionally Left Blank.-
Although I generally agree with Hamster on this issue, I have to say to this e-rage post:
With the lowering of door cool downs and my personal reinvestment in the PvE game, I've moved out of the arena to join open street ToT teams for the first time in a couple years. It's been an enjoyable experience, and outside of someone complaining about me dropping 53s on his lv40-something team (fear not, I cleared them), I haven't heard anyone complain about door possession other than you, Ham.
Case in point, last night our team was the only one at the Curry Cove marker for a time, and some of us eventually started using utilizing doors on both sides of the plaza. Before long another team moved into over to our weaker side, and you asked your team to stay on the side we started on because "that was their door."
What made it their door and not ours? Couldn't you make the case that our team had dibs on both sets of doors and the other team had showed poor form in moving into our spot? Or can a team not arbitrarily own more than one set of doors at a time?
I'm not trying to play devil's advocate here, I'm geniuinely curious about this. I don't feel anyone was in the wrong last night - you know as much from our conversation. (And unless you were privy to some /tells I wasn't, I wasn't hearing any complaints about what we were doing.)
PenanceжTriage
I would guess you aren't part of the jerk store if you had a civil conversation with Ham, heh. But who knows, he's a goofy guy.
I'd say for that one just have one team on each set of doors. You don't need both of them the way it works now. Easy peasy. Heck, I don't even know why any of this can be an issue for people: but I've always one of those people that doesn't have issues with sharing.
Who's E-raging, Inviegle? The guy who couldn't find teams, or Ham? Either one isn't worthy of that, but whatever, it's in keeping with your history. Sheesh, people complaining about finding a team or jerk behavior in an MMO are both completely unsuprising. It happens.
Binds, the Unseelie Court is always hard to find, as people pick those mobs off from around Jack and don't bother to defeat Jack. Makes it hard for everyone, even though the Halloween event has been going for years. Finding teams has generally been a little trickier redside, but it's not usually hard to find ToT or Banner teams in peak hours: are you using our chat channels to find teams? If not, check them out in the "Welcome to Victory" thread stickied in our forums, and join them in game.

What I'm saying is that Ham is right, its annoying as hell during a run to have to deal with people messing up the spawn or jumping in without asking for an invite.
But its kind of expected in an MMO, and no need to e-rage about it on the forums. It's going to happen every time some sort of badge or loot is involved.

Had this happen during a Fire/Rad group on Friday. Is it annoying? Sure. But we had a team of 8 controllers camped on a set of doors. Stuff was dying as fast as it came out the doors. So the aggravation level of some random kill-stealer coming in and taking an ineffectual swipe at a couple of them was fairly low. About on par with some guy driving at 30 miles below the speed limit in front of you while the rest of the expressway is traffic-free.
Our team was at the plaza first, and I don't remember seeing anyone clicking the other set of doors before we started working them. If that wasn't clear last night, my bad.
Re: kill-stealing, if I'm following a ToT team in King's Row and fireballing their tricks, that's classless. No argument there. What I actually see happening in-game seems like something that benefits everyone by creating a fun quasi-competition that has both teams racing to defeat trick spawns. It's less poaching and more Zombie/Rikti invasion-y, with nothing malicious about it.
Even in your example with a lowbie clicking your doors, how is that necessarily a bad thing? They're just helping you get your defeat X badges sooner, right?

The jerks always seem to come out in droves for this event. Was on a very low level character trying to get some Halloween salvage yesterday and had a level 10 jump in and wipe out my spawns in one shot...then try to Global Friend me.

havent really had any issues with this, i know plenty of good ToT spots so when me and friends cant ToT in one spot we got to another, one of my fav spots is in RWZ (no zone events there and the spot is just outside the vanguard base so easy to go and QM the junk)
on another interesting note you can investigate the halloween tips in RWZ as well

I know how it can be tempting to fight back, and try not feel or look like a wuss if you think someone is calling you out, but....is it really that hard to walk away and use one of the other 8,000,000,000,000,000 doors in the zone? For **** sake, how many buildings in PI have a set of 2+ doors on them? Isn't there one directly across from those apartments? I think this boggles my mind more than them getting on your case for asking nicely to begin with. But then again, if they can't even kill the mobs they are trying to steal, me looking for some kind of logic seems kind of foolish
|
Using your logic the culprets here are the 3 man team that felt the need to push their way in and try to take over that ONE set of doors in PI when.. as you said ... there were plenty of other ones they could have used. These events have always managed to bring out the JERKS in game and anyone that has been around a while can testify to the fact that 50 levels used to ToT in places like Mercy and Atlas park. They were only interested in the Halloween Salvage and drops so they'd click on doors and if a mob actually spawned they'd just move off and leave it there for some poor 3 or 4 level to discover and get one shotted .. This prompted the Devs to alter code so no one could ToT in zones not appropriate for their level unless they exempt down.
There is no TOS that says that door belongs to THAT team but its common courtesy to respect the fact that a team is using that door and use one of the many others in zone rather than being a A** and forcing your way in. The team that insisted on pushing in to use THAT door and then resorted to name calling in public chat were rude and OP has every right to be upset.

Next time someone does this to you SH, let them have the space and then grab a stone tank and pull a few GMs from monster isle on top of them for payback.

Banner event going on in PI. I log in to join a team. Banners become vulnerable, broadcast calls out for Red banner to take out first. Most of the participants converge and take it out. Next banner is called out and most head there.
Guy on my team asks "what's going on? I don't think this is being coordinated at all. This isn't going anywhere".
I tells him, I says, "follow broadcast"
Dude says, "There isn't anything in broadcast" (even though 3 out of 4 banners were defeated at this time)
I tells him, I says, "....yes there is"
Another member says "sure there is"
Dude says, "I guess I have that guy on ignore"
I tells him, I says, "Satanic hamster, probably do"
Dude says, "Oh hell yes I do. I really dislike that player".
Ya know, some of the little things in life can bring just the biggest smiles. He didn't act like he didn't get badge credit so it should have counted for the team as a whole. I've done a couple of banners now with Shamster either on the team or on another team, and I generally try to help out with direction if someone hasn't already done so. Shamster likes to try to step on my toes and complain about the direction even though it couldn't be simpler. I can't say I really blame the guy on my team in this instance.
I've already forgotten about most of you
Voodoo's idea of banners:
Do the colors from left to right, regardless of where they actually are on a map.
Hamster's idea:
Do them in a line from where they actually are on a map.

Rock, rock on Hamster.
If banners no. 1 and 3 are right next to each other and 2 and 4 are paired up across the zone , I don't see a reason to go 1.5 miles over to no. 2 then back and then etc etc, just because Vood wants to go "in order."
Vood = noob. Voonoob.
