You can view the image properties of that image and post it using the tags and it should work! Thanks so much. I hope for the best but prepare for the worst when it comes to the appeals by players to save the game.

    Need Help w/Post

First I would like to thank Electric-Knight for volunteering to post this in the Victory Forum for me. I am unable to post the message myself due to the fact that I did not have VIP on the right date. My fiancé, who I met on City of Heroes, bought me a PS3 and between that and graduate school I was taking a break from the game with the intention of coming back when time permitted. But with the recent news I wanted to make sure that I said a formal farewell to everyone before potentially losing that chance.

I was never a big forum person, but there are people on the forums that I did admire and befriend. I figured I would write about some of my biggest accomplishments and my biggest regrets in the game.

My biggest accomplishment had to have been meeting Snowy (aka Snowy-Blitz). I met her sometime in the beginning of 2009. I saw her several times before mostly in Costume Contests and always thought she made great costumes. I was on my main character, "Enchantress," and we expressed our appreciation for each other's style. I had been playing for about a year at that point and for the most part kept my gender a secret but for whatever reason decided to reveal the truth to her. It was not long after that the Super Group I would found would have a Teamspeak server and from that point everyone could easily tell I was a guy!

A few months later I decided to take a stab at creating my own Super Group, The Tribe of Legends. She was the first member. We both made friends in the Tribe and friends who were members of groups who were friends with us. It was not long before we started flirting. At one point, as a joke, I made a chapel for us in the Super Group base. Wasn't long after that I made the drive from South Georgia to South Florida to see her and the rest was history. By 2010 she moved up here with me and wasn't long ago that I proposed to her.

Another big accomplishment was the aforementioned Super Group. I originally started it just so I could entertain my base building obsession. Even recently I have people tell me that it is the best base they have ever seen on any server. I worked hard recruiting farmers, and yes noobs too, so I could build up prestige for the SG and build whatever the heck I wanted. I think in 9 months we were already in the Top 10 in prestige. But once we made it to that point and I had more than enough prestige, I backed off the recruiting and we pretty much became a clique of veteran players who mostly stayed in touch through our channel.

It was not long before I started to really focus on playing with the same crew. Usually this group consisted of some combination of The Milk, Kintrollr-Girl (Kin), GG (Heartless Angel, etc.), Novamaiden, Brierly (who was one of the best players I ever saw even though he did not stay long), Flux Faraday, Eagle Zone, Crazy Carl, Barettai, Slippy, Dynthorn, Ahiga, Khellar, Cosmic Thunderer and Psych Inferno among many others who would be impossible to be able to name them all at this time. Obviously Snowy and I would team a lot. We, at one point, ran TFs scheduled on a calendar for every day of the week and Rikti raids every Sunday. We talked to each other on Teamspeak and celebrated each other's good news and empathized with each other on the bad news. Several of the aforementioned people I consider true personal friends even to this day. I hope some of them are able to attend the wedding of Snowy and Chant!

Another accomplishment, and one of the fondest memories, was when our group was competing with The One. I know you are not supposed to mention stuff like this, but what are they going to do, ban me from the forums? Oh no!

Well anyways, King of Every Queen, aka The Master, kept trying to steal from our group one of the true legends of Victory Server, Kintrollr Girl (if you have not seen Kin play, I suggest doing so before Doomsday). Anyways Kin led him to believe he was switching groups so he could become a leader in The One. Master logged and then Kin recruited on of my toons. From that point he promoted me to leader. I then held the SG hostage. I replaced the banners that said "The-One" with one that said "Chant." I deleted their power supply that they had to get someone else to craft for them. I deleted a room for every time a person hurled an insult at me. This may sound cruel, but if you knew Master, you would know why I did it.

I am also proud that I never left Victory!

As for regrets, I think the thing I regret most was allowing Snowy to buy me that PS3. That infernal device caused me to take a long absence from the game to play Skyrim and such. If I had known that the game would be wiped out this November, I would have probably played more. Now I am in graduate school so it is hard to enjoy these last few months.

I regret not bring more toons to 50 than I did.

I regret not finishing that last room in the base. I deleted the old control room and was about to redo it much better (base work is never complete) but never finished it. Now when I think about finishing it, I loose motivation thinking about Doomsday (hopefully this impressive social media effort could so something, but I still feel like the base would be lost in any transition process).

I regret not building more bases. Base building was time-consuming but I was good enough that people actually paid me good influence or infamy to do their base. Instead of farming I could have done more of this.

I regret not keeping better touch with some of my friends.

I don't think I ever got all the incarnate stuff on any of my toons. I think I took off before the last update with incarnate stuff.

Well I am getting tired and this is getting long. I don't think there is a way to say everything I want to say in one message. If you wish to keep in touch, I can be reached at gh.ritchie@yahoo.com.

Thanks to all who ever shared a kind word or an exciting team with me.

Thanks for the offer, I will start working on it in a minute. And yes, I have seen a lot of efforts through social media including a petition through change.org. I think that is incredible I just hope the efforts are worth it. I will just type what I want to post in another reply

Because I can no longer become VIP, I am restricted on where I can post on the forum. I stopped playing a little while ago but always planned to come back when I finished grad school or just found more time. Is there anyone who would volunteer to post a message for me in the Victory forum so I could say my goodbyes there? Thanks!
  6. Times are tough for a lot of us. In 2008 I was making thousands and thousands of dollars a month. This year, however, I lost one job to go to another one where I have basically been paying to work as there is work dating back to August I still have not been paid for. I recently applied for a job that pays $7.50 an hour and Im behind on my rent, car payments and on the verge of losing everything. Oh yeah somewhere in the midst of that I got divorced. But I manage it by trying to look at things neutrally. Trying to think "positive" is hokus pokus pseudoscience advice. Instead I recommend to think "neutral." For my situation, I think to myself that this stinks and I haven't done anything to deserve half of it, but perhaps something will come around. Perhaps this is my incentive to write that novel I always wanted, or explore ways to go back for my masters. I refuse to accept the idea that it is happening for a reason though, as there is no reason for it. But I can at least try to move on and work towards improving the situation. And not everything is bad in my life either. So think "neutral."
  7. I agree that this poster does not speak for all of us, as I advocate a balanced approach. I understand that even making small changes in bases means making a large contribution in return for little rewards for the developers. I am thankful for the changes they have given us. I think there should be small changes made (such as increasing the limit people who can be in a SG, etc.) over time to make SGs important again. I think if SGs became important again, then it could be more worthwhile to make larger changes, such as an eventual base overhaul. We need to be progressive, not revolutionary.
  8. I for one will be joining this. I think anyone who has any base experience should join. We need a lot of competition to inspire creativity. This community has complained (and for good reasons) more than probably any other community about how we are ignored by the Devs and stuff like that. Well this is something positive our way for once. We should take this opportunity to show everyone what we can do!
  9. Victory server should have a decent turnout for this. I know some pretty great designers on this server!
  10. Thanks for the reply. Im still working on getting those unlocked on my scrapper. I think the next toon I will try to get all these goodies for is my dom.
  11. I guess you can say that I came back. Basically my girlfriend, aka snowy, bought me a PS3 for Christmas. I'm really more of a console gamer at heart, this is one of the few PC games I have ever played. At any rate the PS3 was new and shiny, and sucked me away from CoH for quite awhile. I think it was good because I was getting frustrated with the game and taking that break really put things into perspective for me. I'm coming back enjoying the game like I haven't had in years, and now just sitting back and letting other people sort out teams and raids and crap. Sometimes being "new" again is good because I do not have to worry about keeping up with the Johnsons so to speak. Looking back, I took this game way too seriously before. Now it's time to have fun.
  12. Thanks for the advice. So far I have one character that is progressing along nicely. She already has a 3rd tier alpha and 1st tier Judgment power. I really do not have many characters as I only have 6 level 50 characters (that I can think of at the moment) so maybe I will not get so bored of the trials as some others do.
  13. MP, I think Im more concerned about getting all of the incarnate stuff. It seemed confusing at first, but I think Im slowly getting the hang of it.
  14. Hi everyone. I have been away from the game for about 11 months now, and figured I'd say hi again to everyone and see what people would recommend me to experience first. There is a lot of content I have missed and I don't think there have ever been this many changes to the game. When I left, we only were allowed two tiers of the alpha power. I've done a couple of the new trials and so forth and people have shown off a few of the newly purchased items. What does everyone here think that I should look into or do first now that I'm back? Thanks for any guidance! Glad to be back!

PS, please feel free to link me any important forum posts you think I need to read. Im trying to sift through it all, and it's a bit overwhelming! I wish there was and all-in-one guide for the past year!
  15. After the runs, I continued until I got to 20, and made the trip to blueside. Today after a SPTF, I made it to 27 with my cold/dark.
  16. Im leveling a cold/dark def in Praetoria so I would like to join if possible.
  17. I may be interested. Let me check my inf before I say for sure!

    Name Exchange

Ever had to settle for a less-than-perfect name for your character? Ever wished you could contact a player that has been sitting on a name for a toon they do not even play any more?

I've seen other servers have a list of desired names where players could bargain with someone to get a name that has been already claimed. Perhaps someone is deleting characters and is willing to give up their names. Maybe someone is quitting the game and would be gracious enough to share their names with others.

After hours of frustration trying to find a name for my new cold/dark defender, I think such a thread is something we need here.
  19. If I can think of a name and character concept for a cold/dark defender I will be leveling my lowbie.

    A Bowling Alley?

Those are some pretty neat alleys.
  21. All I've got to say is if you come to Victory one day and see my base, and somewhere you see two domes stuck to each other to appear as if it was a giant sphere, do not be surprised :P
  22. Sup Tife, nice to see someone from Victory representing in the base building community.
  23. If Im able I will show up, but my schedule changes every week so I never plan for anything unless I really know I'm good for it.

But please, please dont make me buy it on top of what i already paid for three games, COH, COV, and GR.... plus my monthly fee. that isnt just mean and wrong.. its straight up villany
Well, it already was made easier to buy stuff not that many issues ago, when prices dropped. I don't think this is the solution. Making it easier for EVERYONE to own a awesome base in no times makes them no longer Super Group bases and more like personal player houses on various chat sites I won't mention. It's already easy enough as far as I'm concerned. Part of the challenge of a small SG is making due with what you have and working your way up. Inviting new members and teaming together will build prestige FAST. And if you are determined enough you can drop a few billion of influence straight into prestige. Making it easier undermines those groups that busted their rears for months to get what they have.

I do agree that we need progress on the base editor. We have the same exact items from ages ago. Would I mind paying extra for extra base items? No, in fact that sounds like a great idea. Paying them will encourage them to do more and if my base has shiny items that other bases do not, then chalk it up to capitalism.

So Rednames, it's time for a BASE PACK.
