Thinking about Cathedral of Pain

I have a lot of fun coordinating this trial. And something Elegost posted recently got me thinking. What if we made a static team(well 3 teams). to run this trial. Everyone could sign up with 3-5 characters and we could do it on a certain day/time every week, and just mix the characters around for what we need.

Basically, if I was leading this, I would want it to be like 20-24 people that I know and trust. And since I assume not everyone would show up every time, the last few spots could go to people who need the badge. I would want to make an optimized team for this to make sure it is routinely successful.

Would there be interest in this at all? Or is it a waste of time and people would rather go get shards another way?

I'm always up for a challenge and since I already have the badge I can bring what ever you need from my arsonal.

Depending on time and side, sure, I would be interested.

im kinda 50/50 on this, the trial irks me in 2 ways, the PITA timing things and no drops or rewards period until the end

you would not get any shards from this most likely unless they are allowed to drop in this, and the most you could get is 1 component that you could easily just craft with 4 shards

i honestly would rather do a hami raid than a CoP any day, and hami cheats worse than the rularuu AVs by having untyped dmg and can kill phased things

I'd follow you off a cliff, woman!

It's hard for me to committ ahead of time but if I'm on and you need bodies I am always willing to help.

If Im able I will show up, but my schedule changes every week so I never plan for anything unless I really know I'm good for it.

Did an impromptu one last night just to see how it would be.

Round 1- FAIL. Cleared barriers in two swipes (under 5 min) got the storm AV, could never dent him more than 1/6 of his health. Gave up after a while.

Round 2- SUCCESS. Had a little trouble clearing barriers (one team got a little over zealous and killed theirs during 1st swipe), but was still under 10 minutes. We got the red AV. He was killed within 4 rounds of clearing the spawns and shooting him in the face. We did also have more debuffers and a lot less melee on this run.

Findings:
-Purple AV sucks. Unless I have a really great mix of ATs/good listeners, the plan is to abort and restart (hoping to get the other AV). Unfortunately, it is too difficult to get people to stand far enough back (hurricane kills your range, but if you stand outside of it... you can hit if you are ranged damage), melee is basically just screwed.
-You can get a shard drop off of the AV when he dies, but it looks like nothing else. (I was hoping the no drops did not extend to shards)
-If you select the badge/item of power, you cannot also get the component. (sadly someone on their badge character selected the wrong one)
-More Rad does indeed equal more win.

It greatly helps for those long-ranging him to call out when the bubble is back up, because those in close can't physically see it, or the "unaffected" that comes up, so they waste too much time attacking needlessly. If possible, get used to the timeframe it is down, and preemptively call out the bubble (by 1 or 2 seconds) so everyone can bail and get to their box spawns as they come, then back to the Aspect within 10-20 seconds.

You should keep 1 person on each team (who can deal damage from range) at their respective cube. That way when the AV's bubble goes up, the team just clicks on that person then "f" to auto follow and everyone ends up where they need to be.

Also- Colds>Rads.

While I woudn't mind signing up for a crew like this, my work schedule can be erratic so I couldn't always guarantee my presence at every run. It's been a challenge to keep my schedule clear for all the PvP Univeristy practices and matches, though so far that's worked out well (*knock on wood*).

If you call a day/time I'll be there when possible. It was a fun run the other night.

Would depend on day/time. Have plenty debuff/damage and some buff; you do NOT want me to Tank unless for comical relief.

Would depend on the day and time, I'd be up for this. I'm not sure having a group is going to be the wisest, given all the varying schedules people have, but whatever floats your boat!

The fact that Coz and I agree AND have 2 things in common scares me beyond words.
