I thought the revised Tina arc was FULL of clockwork, no need to "farm".

Bit of a threadjack, but that was the funnest mission ever.

No one on the group I was playing with had done that mission before and knew what to expect. We figured probably an AV, maybe even a +4 AV, but decided to hang out after clearing the map and see if we could take him.

Imagine our surprise when he showed up over 20 levels higher than us and proceeded to wipe the floor with our steamroller team. It took quite a while for all the laughter on vent to die down. The "Flee for your lives!" yellow text popup was the icing on the cake.

It's moments like that that make this game worth playing.

Trick or Treated for 20 minutes, got first costume, got tip at second door after that. Random is Random. *shrug*

Here is a tip for the Halloween tips, get in a 8 player team and tot. Chances are the group will have a much better chance at getting the tip mission than soloing then run the mission as a group... Every one wins.

suggestion on the Halloween tip mission. Perhaps the people that have the codes for a costume could get the tip mission year round, but only during zombie invasions and/or the banner fights. That way the possiblity is still there to run those missions if those that have the ability are so inclined to be nice to others.

On red side, I found that using Midnight Visage worked very well for getting tips.

Since it's based on a door click, chances are the same alone or in a group. Question then becomes how quickly can the groups be cleared, and I don't really think most teams of 8 clear Trick spawns with multiple bosses as quickly as a smaller group kills smaller spawns.

My personal recommendation is a group of 4 or 5.

Teaming or solo?

I was ToTing with 6-8 people, and getting the drops rather quickly.

I was amazed, TOTing on PUGs, how many people thought it was a mission timer and just freaked out to the end every time we entered the mission. <sigh>

Yes, artic air, shadow fall, steamy mist, and all the ilk that us mostly support-character-playing people need to survive. Especially against the stupid mezzing bosses that spawn so often.

Isn't the Kheldian form a costume? I thought that was WHY you couldn't wear a costume in Kheldian form.

I can understand if there are enough differences to distinguish (Forms grant additional abilities, such as increased recovery and Res in Dwarf form) but technically all that makes a power a costume power is that it sets your costume. The Freakshow Disguise, Arachnos Disguise, 5th Column Disguise and Holographic Projector should work as well.

Stone Armor Granite form should be similar, too.

Just to confirm - if you run a Halloween Tip mission on a team, everyone on the team gets to pick a badge and a reward at the end, right? Not just the mission holder?

Also, I see everyone saying these tips drop from knocking on the doors, but in my experience, they have dropped from defeating the mobs.

They come from knocking on the doors.

Yes, at the conclusion of a successful mission the standard rewards table pops up. Ergo, different members on the team can select different rewards after the same mission.

Only exception to this is if someone gets into the mission late. Since it is such a short mission, it is very easy to get the "not on the team long enough" notice upon completion. No prestige or xp for the completion nor any of the badges.

I've heard a couple reports otherwise, but nothing definitive. My personal experience has been every Halloween tip came from a Treat Door click.

I'm far more willing to believe someone had a Halloween tip, didn't notice, then got a regular tip on a mob kill and saw the Halloween tip when they looked.

Also to note, high level villains in Grandville should take care. I got a Halloween tip and while people were gathering, someone did some more ToT. They were 4 buildings away from the mission door but some kind of door bug dropped them in the mission, and we had to rush to get in. Luckily no one lost out since we just took a bit of extra time killing things and grabbing glowies to balance it out.

However the point was there are misaligned doors in GV and care needs to be taken.

I have been very carefully watching for the Tips to drop on my two badge toons because as soon as they do, I stop Trick or Treating and go run the Tip mission. (I also know exaclty what other tip missions I had, so I know no new ones dropped). It has always appeared to me that the Tip drops from a mob defeat. I suppose it is possible that I have defeated the first mob out the door so fast that it appears that the tip dropped from them, but I doubt it.

Have the devs confirmed that the doors are what cause the drops, not mob defeats, or are we just relying on empirical evidence?

Every single halloween tip drop I've received (20-25 spread out over 4-5 characters) has been accompanied by the TREAT text. This makes them door drops. When I get a halloween costume or halloween salvage drop from a mob, I never see the TREAT text, like I do when they are door drops.

OK, I think I may have been misremembering the Treat text as a salvage or inspiration drop, and that's now what lead me to believe that the mobs were dropping the Tips, but now that I think about it, I've have gotten the Treat text as well, so it makes sense that they are dropping from the door.

My mistake.

Sorry to sound noobish, but which door? The door that the mobs spawned out of? Or any door?
I usually ToT in Grandville by the warehouses which has rows of garage style doors. Do I click on those? Thanks

When you ToT, you click on a door. Any door in a level appropriate zone that doesn't take you inside a building or into a mission you already have will do. You either get a Trick or a Treat. The Halloween tip is just one of many possible Treats.

I wasn't implying you need to click on the door again after you defeat the mobs in order to get the tip.

I've actually gotten them both ways - from clicking the door and from defeating ToT mobs. It has to be a door mob though, not a regular one, and you have to be wearing the costume.
