Seems decent enough but not something I'd complain about not having. Good choice.

As discussed in the other thread about this: nothing special or fancy. We have indeed reached the zen area of vet rewards: not awesome, not sucky, just...there.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I agree. It is very strong but not a major game-changer, which makes it appropriate to a vet reward.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

The game gets the closest equivalent we're likely to see to a level up button and people are meh. Love it.

Somewhere between 35-39, or somewhere in the high 40s.

Mathematically speaking the later the better as long as it's not too late. Since bigger levels take longer. But in terms of content getting thin, 35-39 is still a spot people can run dry.

People are saying meh at the badges board, but not here. 'Zen of vet rewards' sounds positive.

Stupid question, but Im guessing its a one time use power?

The wording is a bit vague, but it looks like a power with 5 charges, and 5 bars of Patrol xp each time. I haven't read other threads on this, I don't know if you can burn all 5 charges at once and have 2.5 levels or bonus xp saved up, or what.

The way I was interpreting it, you claim your reward and are granted a temp power with five charges. Those five charges can be used whenever you like, and the power is gone for good after you use them.

The mechanics of Patrol XP being what they are, I wouldn't expect to ever have more than ten full bars of Patrol XP stored up. So, I wouldn't use the power until your remaining Patrol XP is equivalent to less than 5 bars of XP.

Unless claiming the reward is more like claiming SG base items (infinitely renewable) than claiming a respec (one time and it's gone for good.)

Edit: Duh. For some reason I got 0.5 levels and 5 bars mixed up half way through posting. Fixed.

This is "Patrol XP" which is also used as a debt-buffer, not actual XP which is a level bumper.

Correct?

Or am I reading it wrong?

Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.

5 bars is .5 levels of 50% xp. Which means it's .25 levels of bonus. Basically the power is 1.25 extra levels.

Patrol XP either negates debt or adds 50% to any earned xp while you have it.
It's basically done this way so you have to play to get the benefit, not just be auto-leveled.

That is what I thought.

It is not a "Push me 5 times for 2.5 levels automatically".

right. as i said above though, it's likely to be the closest thing this game will see to that.

Yes, but I had originally written this:

And that would be very wrong.

I think it's awesome, and I get it in a few days. I would say 'meh' too if I didn't have it. Hate seeing those posts from people who don't have the latest and greatest right away.

Thanks Paragon for the ongoing vet awards!

EQ2 had a vet reward that capped your vitality (i.e. patrol exp here) and you could use it once a week. Forever. On each character.

This vet reward. Meh. Not going to complaint about it, but it's nothing to write home about.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

It's kinda cool. I like it.

Odd mechanic, but kind of a cool reward.

You have to admit though:

After costume pieces, base items, and some items per character... This is a major change for a system that nerfed every other method of "fast tracking" a character.

As one of the main representatives of the "Vet Rewards Suck" party, I'd like to voice my support for this vet power. It's a nice little bonus for vets, and nothing other players can't get with a little more work (or, in this case, a little more switching up of characters.) A very good balance balanced supremely well, Devs.
