I mean, it's admittedly not the 'best' vet reward out there, and with its limit of 5 charges it's not really going to have all that much effect over the course of a character but it's certainly not terrible either and is a nice little nod to letting vets level 'faster'(something I know I've seen some people out there request ... and request and request).

This is the first time I added a page to wiki, rather than editing existing pages, so I hope I did it right. I know there is still more info to add, like the graphic for the power, and a few redirects when searching, but I hope it's a good place for somebody else that knows more about it to start with. At least the information is there now, and hopefully easy to find. 
There have been times when I've been playing a 30-something level character and run out of Patrol XP while I'm still a long ways from the level I want to get to. So I've debated whether or not to log that character out for a few days to build up more, but this power would give me a reason to keep on playing.
So I see some value to it.

As far as useless vet rewards I'd say the non combat pet ranks up there.

I can't tell you how many times I have been to a frat party (using the party pack of course)
and felt more at home with my Greek letter draped costume... If I thought I could hold my emotions I would mention boxing but I don't think at this time my emotions can handle it, at least not all at once!!

At the very least this Vet power offers something that we can't quite get any other way. True it's very closely related to what we get with the Day Job system, but it's still technically unique. That's what I think Vet awards should be: things that you cannot get any other way but to be a Vet.
At any rate it's better than what we got with the 45th and 69th Vet awards. Only getting a respec token as a Vet award always seemed very crummy to me because there's really nothing "Vet-like" about it at all. There are after all other ways to get a respec token.
As I mentioned in another thread we can pretty much expect these kinds of "almost pointless" Vet awards from now on. Basically there's no way we'll ever get anything "super cool" again because the newer people would pitch a fit and there's no way we'll get a totally useless one because us old timers would cry too much about it. That more or less means Vet awards of the future will always be stuck in the middle of being borderline meh. Oh well. *shrugs*

Oh I like it a lot.
I don't get to play much, and when I do I tend to blow through patrol XP pretty fast. Now I can extend that blue sweetness a bit longer.

For a moment there I misread it and thought we would get the exp from the patrol exp without doing anything.
So five charges eh? This one may be tricky to decide when to use.

Vet's should get special rewards but nothing that's better as a boost pack or TF reward, things like the targeting pet are great, nice little bonus that isn't a costume piece or so on. I think this XP thing is sort of useful but for a 78th month account? What a rip off, the team assemble power is one of the most widely used powers I've seen, something that helps the player but isn't useless. Maybe they could add something closer to the existing vet powers instead of something boring and pretty much useless to a level 50.

Anyway I don't know about anyone else but I think I can call myself an "old timer" because I've had a continuously active account since CoH Headstart on April, 25 2004 and I have been regularly playing ever since. I've never taken "time off" for ED or anything else.
And as far as where I stand on Vet Awards I'm actually one of those weird people who think they should have come to an end at 60 months precisely because the whining you're doing right here. People who whine about Vet power X, Y or Z being a "rip-off" because it's not good enough to be a top end Vet award is exactly what I was talking about. The Devs have painted themselves into a corner trying to come up with new things that aren't going to significantly piss off either newer players or older ones and, as I predicted, it's clearly become harder and harder to do that.

Possible ideas could be a vet badge that unlocks the standard capes. Since we have boosters that supply other capes nowadays, perhaps a vet badge that unlocks the standard capes wouldn't be bad?
Also with boosters that provide new auras, plus we have the combat auras and the recent Alpha/Omega auras that a vet badge that unlocks the standard auras wouldn't be bad?
You guys are nuts. This power is crazy if you decide to level 1 alt even reasonably often, and some of you think it's not enough? It's like a perma patrol XP bonus.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

In that case, yeah, that is kind of unimpressive. Still, it's better than a tailor token and won't create jealousy, so I'd call it appropriate.

At first I thought it was just a bonus to how fast/how much patrol xp you get while logged off and I was, "meh"....but then I read it and now I'm like, "I like it!"
I'm with Lothic in a way. I've been here since the head start of CoH and never taken time off. What I'd like to see is to have really awesome rewards for the next 2-3 rewards (until the next 'year' month badge) and then stop the rewards (as well as badges I guess). Then just issue a badge every 6 months or even once a year (only a badge and nothing else).
That way people like me who want really cool powers (or what have ya) get it and after that we don't get anything (beyond maybe a badge).
