Purple drop rates!!!

Since I18, I've had the following drops:

Apocalypse: Damage
Coercive Persuasion: Contagious Confusion
Soulbound Allegiance: Dam/End
Soulbound Allegiance: Rech/Acc
Fortunata Hypnosis: Rech/Acc
Ragnarok: Rech/Acc

Now, considering the time I've spent in Praetoria, the time I've spent badging in low-level flashbacks, and the time I've spent stealthing paper missions to get Mayhem badges, it's absolutely clear that the devs must have stealth buffed purple drop rates and fixed the biased drop ratios. If it wasn't for evil flippers controlling the market, then purple prices would have crashed to Trap of the Hunter levels by now.

p.s. This is clearly a buff. I don't want to hear any of your crazy theories about 'selective reporting' and so-called 'randomness', or any feeble yammering about 'statistics'. I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES AND IT IS TRUFAX.

So you don't think all those are worth more than 10-50k each? In that case, I will be happy to take them off your hands for that price.

Sadly, the iron grip of the evil flippers cannot be broken, and in order to purple out my warshade I'm forced to sell the ones I don't need on the market. :-(

The market simply does not work the way you want it to. The market is not a store.

I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.

I agree with this statement. I run solo farms on my Widow ALL the time, and in atleast 20 runs of my fave farm mission I have never seen a purple drop. I have in fact only had 2 drop in the last 5 months and both of them were during solo ITFs.

Something needs to be done cause 500 million for a single IO is stupid beyond any reach of the imagination. I get why the PVP IOs go for that much because nobody does PVP but the purples are just simply out of the the reach of a very large portion of non-marketeering players.

I ran Grouchybeast's numbers, and I'm seeing about 1 Purple drop for every 14 kills.

Keep in mind, this is an average, so those numbers will vary.

Also keep in mind, I ran the numbers on my Lite-Brite, but it's very reliable.

You can verify the math here.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

It's not possible to write a parody of stupid theories that is so obviously untrue it doesn't need a smiley or disclaimer.

Hmmm...

*note to self, suggest raising prices on Trap of the Hunter to unobtainable levels at the next Market Cartel meeting*

As long as this is a thread about bragging about purple drops...
Last year, during DXP weekend and the week that followed I got like 8 purples. More than half of the purple I've ever had drop were in that one week.

Since i18, I've gotten one.

I've been running tips and TFs on level 50's for a lot of my game time since then. You just got lucky. That is all.

@Gilia1
I play heroes on Champion.
I play villains on Virtue.

And yet I have gotten none in that same time frame spending a great deal of time leveling a Fortunata from 47-50 and a scrapper from 45-48 (at +2).

[edited to add] Grouchybeast stole my purple drops. I demand action!

I've gotten 3 purples in the last two days. First was an Armageddon : Dam/Rech/Acc with my fire/kin on the "Save warrior clan's village" mission. Second was a Hecatomb: Damage, on the same mission, but on the second day with that toon. The third one was with my spines/dark scrapper soloing the "Defeat Battle Maiden and Guards" mission - a Ragnarok : Dam/End

I was like waaaaaaaaah?! lol. All together it was about 5 farming runs. My fire/kin got his on the first run each day, and my spines/dark was on his first run too. I did two more runs afterwards to see if I could get lucky again, but no such luck. I guess now I won't get any more for a year! heh

Or longer. I got a bunch once and went almost 20 months without seeing any.

It's kind of sad and funny when people say purple drops should be increased.

Not sure how long the people saying: "The drop rate should be increased." farm, but getting purples isn't hard... It's quite simple just tedious. You can get 1-2 purples a day just farming the wall, and missions would be faster since there are more mobs.

I think the problem is most people don't want to sit at their computer, or have the patience to do so, for two-three hours. When I used to farm purples for Inf. I'd get four-five in a week, or more. I've gotten three on a sunday before. I spent quite a bit of time on the the wall, but still the drop rate is fine.

The real problem is that no one is farming on a larger scale like how it was when people PL'ed in PI or GV to make more supply, because of AE farming. BUT thanks to AE there are more Inf. generating options which means they are easier to buy even at 400m each if you put some effort into the market/ticket farming.

By the way not to sound the a scruge here, but a purpled out character isn't ment for everyone, just like Fararri's. Just because you spend the same monthly fee, doesn't mean you put in the same amount of effort as someone else.

Now orange drops... that was a problem. About three-four months ago I'd be getting more purples than oranges in ten or so farm missions and I'd be deleted all the temp power drops I was getting, becasue there were so many. Though no one believed me since it was anecdotal evidence. >.>

PS. I do understand the humor in this thread, but this was generally for the people who say "See see see, the drop rate does need to be increased!" who completely miss the humor of it.

I mostly agree. Except people say if you don't apply yourself, then you don't deserve it.

Here's why i disagree. You say apply yourself. Does that mean EVERYONE should look for niches and/or flip? Should EVERYONE farm PI? Should EVERYONE farm tix? Those are about the only way to afford the "ferraris", right?

What about the nonfarmers? How exactly should they get "ferraris"? Why does YOUR version of apply ones self mean it's how it should be? Why isn't it suppose to be possible for EVERYONE to purp their WS? We ALL pay to play. I shouldn't HAVE to play your way to purp my WS. Or should I?

I on the other hand enjoy farming PI/AE. I just purpd my first Dom. He has 175% rech with perma everything. But what if i didn't like to farm? Run A merits for a month to get 1 purp? 5 sets of 5 =25. Thats 2 years for 1 toon. No ty.

Please explain why everyone don't deserve a purp WS, please. ( and i ALWAYS get more purps than oranges, too. the system IS borked)

Yes, if there is a thing you need to do to get some thing that you want, and you choose not to do that thing you need to do to get that thing that you want, then it will be difficult to get that thing that you want.

Be it play a lot, to get a drop, or marketeer, or run Hero/Villain merit missions to get it.

If you don't farm (work) you don't get rewards (paid). You have to work for purples. Everyone has a niche, just find one. It doesn't need to be farming mobs on/in the wall/missions, marketeering, or crafting. Offer a service like powerleveling(Which by the way pays VERY well). The only thing limiting one's success in CoX/any MMO is themselves.

And on the subject of non-farmers, every non-farm I've ever met were people who played less than an hour a week, because they were casual to gaming in general, or were very lazy and wanted things handed to them. Purples were added to the game for people who wanted them and activly pursed them in any way possible.

Another way to put it is: We're all born into this world(the 15 dollars a month. LoL) and some people apply themselves (college education, working hard 12/7 for two years, self employed) and get the rewards. (purples = Farrari's or whatever they were working for) This analogy can be applied to relationships and whatever else that is work/reward which is just about everything.

PS. Wow.... I spelt Ferrari wrong. =(

Here's the thing:

Yes, it's incredibly expensive to get a bunch of purples. That puts it out of the reach of people who aren't willing to do any of the several things that generate purples.

So, uhm.... Yeah. It is. And?
