Reactivation weekend timing

Did anybody else from Canada find the timing of the reactivation weekend to be really frustrating?

It fell over our Thanksgiving weekend, so while a lot of people may have been interested in firing up their heroes again and tasting the fresh waters, they were probably out having dinner, making dinner, or visiting their out-of-town family for the weekend.

A couple friends of mine did manage to make some time to jump back in and I got to play with them late Sunday night for a few hours (until nearly 3am Monday morning) but that was all. Just a few hours to run around and check out new stuff. I was glad to be able to play with them, but disappointed that we had so little time to do it.

Nothing holiday related from me, but one of my friends who I really wanted to play that weekend couldn't play with me because of unlucky timing.

My first friend's graphic's card blew up on him, and since he's biased towards graphics and his hard-drive was buggy he decided not to play CoH until his card got replaced. Which was a shame because he was looking forward to playing again too.

Would have been nice to extend the reactivation weekend for another day given the Canadian holiday.

It was not an issue for me, but I live in California. However, over on the Steam forums there was at least one person who received his email about the event *after it finished*, and thus wasn't even aware of it let alone being able to participate. :/ I feel really bad for folks who aren't necessarily checking back all the time for their COH fix, if they've deactivated for whatever reason. And it definitely sucks that someone, somewhere, even in Canada, isn't able to come around for the free days.

Canadians will just have to stay subscribed to the game during holiday weekends to make sure they don't miss anything. (-:

I actually had this happen too. I'm thinking Paragon's e-mail system is really flaky. The e-mail showed up yesterday, but says it was sent on Thursday. And this is to a gmail account that has no discernible lag in it's processing unless the whole thing is offline for an hour or two. My account is active anyway, so it didn't matter to me, but I seem to fairly regularly get e-mails about CoH events after they're done, but flagged as being sent like four days earlier.

I don't think I've ever gotten an e-mail from NCsoft outside support issues and the occasional closed beta invitation.

Stick with the announcements on the main site. They won't let you down.

Sorry to hear about the timing for the Canadian folks, but in the States it was a great time to do it since we had a day off on Monday for Columbus day. Thus encouraging people to stay up late on sunday until the servers shut down for maintenance since they wouldn't have to go to work.

So from a States viewpoint it was perfect timing

I don't even know what thanksgiving is. And I'm not saying this to be a dick. I've heard the term before, but I really do not know what that... Holiday? What that "occasion" is all about. I do know it involves turkeys somehow, though.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but Google is probably a good starting point if you want to research the peculiar habits of the United-States-of-American.

Well, I was more illustrating the diversity of people on the forums than asking for an explanation, to be honest. I don't know a great many things, but few of those I'm actually motivated to go and research. I'm sure I'll run into an explanation of this somewhere by accident, and if I don't... Oh, well.

Hell, you guys don't know half my holidays

But AFAIK the only people who don't work in the US on Columbus day are Government employees (what little work they do)

The only people who had off are students, teachers, banks and government workers. The vast majority of the U.S. works on Columbus Day.

Which includes the Courts, that then extends into the legal fields.
Also I work in a Health Clinic and we had off, but I guess it's up to the individual business.

We had Monday off as well, so you're right that we could all stay up crazy late Sunday night to play (which is exactly what my friend and I did) but that only happened to work out because he hosted Thanksgiving dinner at his place, rather than go out of town to visit family for the long weekend as many people do.

Not even students and teachers, necessarily.

My community college had class as usual, as did the local school district.
