All Things Art: NPC Conversions
Can we have Carnie boots? Pretty please? Also masks and bustiers! Pleasepleasepleaseplease. Sashes would be nice too. Other than that, definately the sybil costumes if at all possible, and Mirror Spirit's coat/hairstyle, or something similar. And can we please change the "tops with skin" options so that when you color them white, they don't look see through?
And this is kind of unrelated, but on the note of revamping zones, I'd really like to see all of the old Hazard Zones updated. Dark Astoria, Crey's Folley, Boomtown, Perez, etc. They have nothing in them aside from GMs and there is so much potential for lore or trials or new TFs or *something.* DA especially is one of the coolest zones in the game and there's just *nothing* there unless you want to hunt masks or Adamastor.

*Bump*
This thread is prohibited from dying.
On-Topic, can we please get some more assymetry? I was running through Praetoria this week and realise that, actually, we have very, very poor analogues to the Resistance and PPD Costumes. The Resistance have various hats, helmets and armour/strap variants we dont get...
While the PPD armour we get is nothing like what the PPD wear! The IDF, maybe. But the PPD have better quality helmets (less ott lean forward on them) over leg and boot armour. Better shoulders and flak jacket style chest armour. They also have the BIG PPD gauntlets that, for no good reason, players dont seem to have.
Really hoping this thread comes to something, and doesn't prove a dud =/
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

But also, I want that open shirt some of the Resistance guys have that's also seen on Dean John Wu in Cap Au's University as well as the Ninjas Oni.

So in this thread, let's talk specifically about the possibility of reaching back into the COH archives and getting you those options. IF we decided to do that, what would be your top choices? Also, if given the choice, would you consider this a priority over, say, brand new costume sets, 'lost' costume pieces, and other alternatives? Feel free to weigh in.

Carnies - masks, Harlequin outfits, Strongman 'chain suspenders', Seneschal/Ring Mistress back detail, Ring/DRM outfit,
Freakshow - man + machine, entire arms converted to weapons, Stunner back detail, etc
Nemesis - For some more Steampunk options, and the brass is just so stylish.
Wyvern - Their entire outfit, including stylish helm and pack.
Legacy Chain - Their helms and shoulder armor would make for some nice medieval additions.
Failed Experiments - the glowing restraints.

My wish list, both old and new:
1) Plain belts with metallic/large/gemstone buckles... All the belts we have seem to a) be segmented in some way or be b) plain civilian style leather belts or c) plain metallic or cloth bands with no buckle at all.
2) Longbow costume patterns/accessories...
3) Belt buckles with selectable insignia/designs... I would kill for an eagle buckle like Ms. Lib wears.
4) RIGHT handed gladiator shoulders... The ones in game are backwards. The heavy one goes on the left to block opponents' right-handed swings and the light one should be on the sword arm (right arm).
5) Likewise, a right handed PPD holster set...
6) Shaman-style animal masks.
7) A gloves and boots pattern with stripes around the top like the rubber boots have now.
8) A permanent cosmetic jetpack/rocket pack. It doesn't have to have any powers, just a jet exhaust/rocket flame animation that activates when the user jumps or flies, as the wings do currently.
More to come...

A simple request, if anything... Taking an note from the Mender shoulders, it brings me to ask for something I consider easy. The options to have only ONE shoulder piece on or two different types. Now, some of you may find this familiar to Champions Online, and honestly- it would be quite fantastic. For instance, the Gladiator large pauldron. If reversed to the other shoulder as well, would look like Romulus Augustus' shoulders and that would look amazing. I've done modeling for Jk3 before, and it honestly isn't hard to take an already exisiting model, but the other piece and submit, or take an already existing model, copy it, reverse it and weight it. I've done it myself, and for something like this, it should be equally as easy.
In terms of NPC costume pieces...
-Romulus Augustus' Shoulders
-The long drape robe of the Lich or COT members for males
-Possible leg accessories like on the PPD, Resistance and Praetorian Clockwork. The thigh accessories.
-The PPD Gloves
-PPD Hardsuit pieces
-I SECOND THE RIKTI ARMOR!!
A bit late but I would like to throw in my two cents. As a wishlist for me so far I agree with the PPD Hardsuit, Knives of Artemis details and Sybil outfits (even if it means no capes) and the Kheld sash.
I would like to have at least the belt from the Fake Nemesis (Could even tie in to the badge, defeat 100 get the Unveiler Badge and a new costume piece(s) if you add more than just the belt, I just mainly want the belt buckle)
Aside from her dress for girls, I would also like her belt, and a toned down version of it for males. Like not as large perhaps.
Tattered skirts for girls (Again can tie it into the Cabal badge) I know that isnt the best pic but you get the idea.
Last few I know are a stretch but
Ice Armor, could make it tintable and perhaps somehow tie it into a winter reward. (or just had the idea of an Elemental Armor booster pack of some sort so you could also add in armor with/of fire, but whatever)
Spikes going up arms and legs, with the option of it being left/right or both.
Spark Blade's coat would be awesome.
Lastly Mother Mayhem's coat. It leaves the chest more open and looks nice. I would like to see this for males and females.
Can't think of any more at the moment but those are the main ones I personally would like to add to the costume creator.

Any, since this thread needed to be hauled up again, another request.
The PPD gloves. Y'know, the ones we don't have, the big ones. The big ones that all PPD wear. The PPD who never wear the piddly little gloves we got, ever, at all. Believe me, I checked. We are the ONLY ones who cannot use the proper chunky tech guantlets, and it's annoying.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Calm down, Techbot, they weren't saying "Make it a badge unlock" they were just saying that "if it has to be a badge unlock..."
And to randomly beat a dead horse... The Ninja MM On's Shisa shoulder guards, especially if we can get a glowing eyes option too.
Also, the gun and clip holsters used by the fully upgraded enforcers from the Master mind Thugs set.

As AzureSkyCiel said, "they weren't saying "Make it a badge unlock" they were just saying that "if it has to be a badge unlock..." "
I really /DON'T/ want it tied into the Unveiler Badge cause that IS a pain in rear to get on red side. To date I don't think any of my vills actually have that badge. And being an altiholic, and proud of it, it would be even more tedious to try and get it unlocked on eeeeeveryone. I don't want to have to do that. That's boring and tiresome. I threw it out there as an option. I would rather have the option to unlock it or...even craft it instead of not having it at all. In all honesty I would /prefer/ to have it at the start of character creation but I would settle for unlocking/crafting it if actually means we could get it.
Our goal is to port over as many NPC costume parts as we possibly can for player usage.
Cool stuff is definitely coming. |
The colors on many of these have been changed in the contact selector in ae these to explore current tinting ability. This provided a great place to capture images.
Some good examples of this would be for steampunk pack elements from the Ourbro, the Nemesis, the Goldbrickers, and the clockwork NPC groups would definitely provide excellent elements to this pack.
For tribal or savage pack there many elements that could be grabbed from existing characters as well like the jewelry from the snakes from the red side of the house and loincloths from the Arachnoid, Shaman, Rularuu Noble Brute,
Historical
Punk
Other Modren
Tactical pack this would have all sorts of different quivers, sheath, holsters backpacked you name it.
Artemis, Longbow, Sky Raiders, Wyvern
Tech
Rikti, AeonClone, Detective Hard-Suits,
The Ritki have and shoulder chest detail that would be cool, on their back is what looks like a cool jet pack. The feet and hands could be monstrous options as well, the have three fingers, on their feet thy have what could be some awesome rocket boots.
Many of these would be cool additions to our technical options, I would like one definite I'd Cray Scorpinoid Stinger's tail we don't have any exclusive tech tails yet.
Robots Clockwork, JumpBot, Malta, RogueRobots, Mech,
I think many of these could be cut apart and rescaled to give many other to make outhe cool uper arms , hands , shoulders, feet, legs I have to comment here that prior to the release of going rogue I hadn't had much interest in robotic parts or with the cyborg part as the parts they been available before did not seem to give enough options to make real customization but with the introduction of the clockwork parts I am finding them not interested in making these were characters. I just want to give kudos art team it made them the many levels of detail truly amazing great job on those I can't wait to see more like.
Monstrous Halloween or even some elements for Beast
Tuatha, Werewolf, Arachnoid, Lost Pariah Prelate, Behemoth, MInitour, Wailer Lord, Hordeling, Coralax, Captain Mako
If faces by part are done I want the animated Cyclops eye, many other part could make cool face aditions, many of the faces in this set would be cool to have further but a lot of these have feet and hands variations existing game it would be great to be able have in designer characters. But if you look at Lost Pariah Prelate he's got three fingers very different looking feet letting these are similar to those of the Rikti. I'd like to mention here if the back detail of the Arachnoids are cool and I had wished I had them I thought they would've come along with the other features and I had gotten a character to level 50 on the red side and was disappointed when they didn't.
Ghost of Scrapyard, SpectralFollower.
Back Detail We should have jet packs should be available as back detail when fly or hover are attained as powers. There again many of these already existing game should be made available. Sky Raiders, Goldbrickers, Longbow, Wyvern, Ritki, Terrence Dobbs (Some sort of tank setup)
JetPacks
Other Back Detail
I found AE was a good place to obtain samples using NPC as contacts on some you can even play with tinting them diffrntly, I have to admit that this temps me all the more.
I am sure there is a lot here I have not mentioned that could be done and I any one has a request for a image to ilistrat their point in this manner send me an email and I will try to make one available.
More Images and Detail to come soon! As well as a few mock ups.
David,
One of the things that just eats me alive is lack of footwear. It just crawls all up and down my back to see the boots the Carnies and circle succubi wear and knowing that I can't put those on my own characters.
(I saw someone else mention Carnie masks. I'd love to have a similar, but untextured mask.)
Crey office-ladies get a variation of the heels texture without the strap around the ankle. I'd love to have that variation available.
Frozen_fire I love your work.
David, can we have a sneak peek of anything coming wih I20?
War Witch said, we have to wait for I2O when it comes to costume because "Awesome takes time, but is vert worthy"
Give us some light, please!

"But in our enthusiasm, we could not resist a radical overhaul of the system, in which all of its major weaknesses have been exposed, analyzed, and replaced with new weaknesses."
-- Bruce Leverett, Register Allocation in Optimizing Compilers
I posted this else where but as this is about NPC part I thought is fit here.
Here is a mock up I did using the scorpion tail I had done and some NPC part I want this uses elements primarily from Arachnoid Widdershins, thought the spines on the back are from Coralax Blue Hybrid, the face is a mix of Arachnoid Widdershins, Coralax Blue Hybrid, Cyclops and the hair is from DevEarth Devoured Pyriss. The tentacles from DevEarth Devoured Pyriss could also be used to make chin detail like captain Davy Jones.
My attempt at animation looks really bad but you get the idea.
Carnie pieces and Wyvern. Their boots are great. Also, the warwolf fur and face patterns.
Couple of considerations to keep in mind as you make your suggestions: we'd probably choose not to make a player version of an NPC costume part if it a) doesn't fit on the existing character rigs/work well with other parts, or if it's b) very, very signature and intimately tied to the group or character's look (like Maelstrom's 'heart' for example, which really should remain unique), or c), if it creates an opportunity for confusion and/or griefing (i.e. if by using the costume part, you could look EXACTLY like an enemy and therefore confuse other players).
Skull and Carnival masks are in the gray area for me, but most other parts are fair game for discussion. |
Specific part: The knee-worn jeans that many low-level enemies wear. I want those ******* pants.
General request: It would be awesome if you did these in themed batches rather than just individual parts. For example, if you guys give us a Vahzilok skull mask, don't leave us hanging. Give us the apron and rib cage too. A huge draw (at least, for me personally) is to make a character that looks like an NPC as precisely as possible (I'm still annoyed that I can't exactly replicate the palette and pieces of all the Praetorian Cops and Resistance members). So, while giving individual, cool pieces does appease those who simply want to incorporate those pieces into a new costume, for those of us making characters who are supposed to be current or former members of existing factions, you're just leaving us hanging. A co....stume tease, if you will.
