Nope. Or at least not until all Americans are in a hover chair that does everything for them, personal entertainment systems, dress them, wash them, put food in their mouth, and deal with the resulting waste. Americans will be born in the chair and die in the chair.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

Thank $diety! I'm soooo tired of having to do things like bend over, manipulate objects with my fingers and then, after ALL THAT I have to straighten up again! That's just not right!

Did no one pay attention to the part in the video where the inventor said she made them to help old people, perhaps with arthritic hands?

This is probably more for the growing number of people who cannot bend over and reach down that far. And this will help add to those numbers too.

Perhaps it is time to sell a horse's feedbag designed for humans to wear.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

As I can see those days getting ever closer I will fight them off and keep tying my shoes until my fingers refuse to obey.

What I really need is something to make it easier for me to game with these ever stiffening mitts.

I did but then I have to help my father put on his slip-ons because at 86 it's hard from him to reach down to his feet and get the heels. Something like this would certainly be useful to him.

Even with those shoes, you still have to bend over to press the button to tie them. What they need is a remote!

I want now please!!

I'm weird about wearing shoes. I only take my shoes off for 4 things, and they all start with S.
Not only that, I've gotta have them laced tight as can be all the time.
So, I'm tying my shoes a good 4 or 5 times a day, just to re-tighten them.

If I could get these and they actually stay as tight as the first time I tie them for the whole day I'd be ecstatic!

Sweet. I never untie my shoes anyways. Just slip them on.

I really like the retro-prototype I version (they've got that iron man mk I feel) with that bulky actuator on the back and windy-cranking noises.

The Prototype 2.0s are a good improvement though. I think its really interesting to see the actual inventor's workshop and bench in this video.

Plenty of hoverboard videos (both real and fake) on youtube. The only ones capable of carrying any substantial weight though are not skateboard size but essentially mini-hovercrafts. Theoretically you could do it with superconductors and magnets like the maglev trains, but then again you would have to have magnets imbedded in the ground and be comfortable riding a liquid nitrogen-cooled deathtrap.

I love the fact that she took this on and made it real though!, I don't know if Nike has approached her or not, i mean they are not short of cash and could help by donating a % of sales towards arthritis research.

The ones in the movie are quite a bit faster though aren't they, i mean in lacing tight in an instant. I've always thought it would be quite funny if you got your fingers caught in the laces if you tried to put both feet in at once as you'd keel over with your fingers caught in the shoes. I also thought the lacing up would start near the toes, i mean who ties their ankles tight before securing their feet?.... still, authentic to the movie and all that.

Isn't it the 30th anniversary of BTTF this year?, maybe Nike will have these Nike McFlys in production for the 40th.

I thought "shower, swim, sleep and surgery." Some s*x just calls for a different style of footwear. *cracks whip*
