Could you explain to me how CC buying recipes for the sellers asking price or higher constitutes "ripping people off".


It seems to me that *anyone* who bought *anything* would be, in your opinion, "ripping people off".

I'm mostly talking about Nethergoat doing it to Salvage. People can use alignment merits to get purples now.

I think you just may want to remember that as we start getting more and more electric control 50's, those sleep and confuse purples might actually start being worth something.

The same logic applies.

How does paying another player's asking price for anything on the market constitute a rip-off?

With specific application to salvage, what's the difference between me buying a ton of something and deleting it and a badger buying a ton of it and destroying it to make a million sleep IOs?

The market sets the prices. If you pay it then its worth that much to you. You don't have to. There are at minimum 5 different ways to get anything on the market

1. H&V Merits
2. Reward Merits
3. AE Ticket Rolls
4. Random Drops
5. Begging friends

None of these involve or require any influence, beyond the crafting cost, or require you to even approach the market.

I agree that at times the market can be very frustrating. However its not a grocery store, its an auction house supplied and used by the players. Just like Ebay or a live auction in the real world. If you want to pay fixed prices either stick to common SO's or buy the common IO recipes from the crafting tables.

The best way to drive down market prices is to increase the supply. Encourage your friends to list as many of their drops as possible, not to hoard their merits, don't vendor or delete salvage and recipes and the supply will increase and prices will drop.

That's what I want to know!

So you think that a recipe, which is a "super rare" drop should be valued less than the stuff to make it?

He was bidding 3 mil... on stacks and stacks and stacks of these. Clearly they're in high demand. Give it about 4 days and they're will be another 100 put up for sale that you can then buy at 3 mil.

Personally, if I got one of those recipes, it would most likely get deleted. That's not high enough for me to list tbh. Plus, they don't move. Ever. Bleh. Crappy investment.

Now... Iron on the other hand... I could be the Iron King and rule with... an Iron fist

Because the million sleep IO's make it back onto the market. :P You are causing inflation by just deleting it.

You know, faking a low supply to force up prices, that's forcing inflation and just plain stupid. We see it IRL when it comes to gas prices...

I delete almost all mez IOs when I'm badging. No bugger wants them, anyway. That's like deleting the recipes and the salvage that went into them.

badgers generate MASSIVE amounts of completely unsalable junk.
Generic IOs aren't vendorable so they don't get cleaned out by vendor mules- if you list a junky IO nobody wants it stays there FOR-EVER. Tying up that slot.

I've only ever gone after a few specific badges because I wanted the titles and even so I ended up deleting far more generic IOs than I sold.


So again, how is buying and deleting something more immoral than buying something, using it to make something else and then deleting that?

I'm not faking low supply- Nevermelting Ice has GENUINE low supply, not because it doesn't drop often enough but because nobody lists it because it isn't worth anything.

I've been doing this for a while now, and the # of Ices listed at the time I check has never topped 300.

If anything, I'm performing a public service by making it worth people's time to list this "junk" drop.

personally I wouldn't notice the difference.

also, what ever happened to Eryq's thread that was going to "prove" farming works (or something)?.

Cause buying one of the remaining 25 recipes at 5 mil, or 33 enhancements at 10 mil would be so bothersome
