What are the best player names you've seen?

I'm sure we've done one of these before, but I haven't seen one in a while. What's the best names you've seen on (an)other player character(s)? It can be a great name no matter what it was actually attached too, or it can be the perfect name for that particular bio or costume.

Yeah, I know these things usually degenerate into "Well, MY best name is...". Don't do that. This is about other people. It's tough, I know, I like my names too. However, you CAN do that if you saw a great player name, decided you'd check another server to see if it was free, and (ahem) appropriated it there. Also, if you came up with a great name, but it was already taken, it counts, as somebody out there has it. Names you've only seen in forum sigs count too of course.

My favorites, at least that I can remember right now, and I'm sure I'll recall more:

- Skydance. Who posts here, but only has Sunwind in his/her sig now, and I don't recall Skydance's details, I just dug the name.

- The Pencil. Saw this guy a long time ago. Amusing name by itself, sounds like a character from The Tick, but what really carried it off was the yellowish costume, red hair, and bright "2" on his chest.

- The Kinetic Kid. Honestly the name isn't uber on its own, but combined with his fun roleplaying, kid-hero style, and laugh-worthy one-liners, it worked very well.

- Eva Destruction AND Dawn Apocalypse. Same poster. I like both of those names a lot. I hope it's not considered insulting that they sound like they'd be right at home in an old-school late-night Cinemax awesome B movie that makes you wonder how it didn't get a distributor and rock theaters. I love those kinds of movies.

- Blood Orchid. This is one of those "Man I wish I'd have gotten there first!" names. Never seen him or her, I just know the name was taken when I tried to get it. (Heck, for all I know it's a known Marvel character that's been filtered, I can't keep up with them all. Or anime, since what I know about that is pretty much Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell.)

- Lotus on Water. Katana/Something as I recall, another forumite's (i.e. Dollhouse) character.

- Eidolon Blade. As I recall the forumite with this one actually wanted Ghost Blade, which was taken. I like it a lot better, though Ghost Blade is pretty slick.

But I go on and on, like I am wont to do. Please, tell me your choices.

My favorites...

SupaDupaOompahLoompah - not sure if it was spelled like this to fit it all in.. but the guy had orange skin, green hair and white coveralls... doin' it up Old School...

FollowedByNinjas- Ninja Mastermind... the funniest part was his bio which read he was actually just a pizza delivery guy who was being followed by Ninjas... he didn't command them... didn't even know who they were or why they were following him... they just showed up and helped out whenever he was in trouble..

And around 1,000 more that I just can't remember right now.

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Did you see the Pencil before or after the movie Mystery Men was released cuz he sounds like a knock off of Pencil Head a wannabe hero that showed up at the recruitment party at the Shovelers house.

No wait it had to be after cuz Mystery Men was released in 99

Years ago before CoV I saw a group of carebears dancing in unison in Steel Canyon on Infinity.

Well, apparently Mystery Men was released in 1999, and it was like 2006 that I saw him, so yeah. I'd imagine that character long retired and the player long gone.

Actually, a VERY recent one, I really like Samuel Tow's character Shaffakoom!

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Two that immediatly come to mind...

Stage Fright - a top hat wearing hero seen on Justice. No idea what his AT or powersets were but he was the first player hero I ever saw in this game when I zoned into Outbreak one afternoon two years ago.

Watership Doom - bots MM on Freedom. Bunny Girl costume, of course.

Lol. I think we both remembered the release date at the same time.

Chickers - female scrapper, many years ago. I came across her on my way through Steel on Infinity and paused when I noticed her fighting the Tsoo by Silver Lake. I guess I was playing a support type character, I can't remember exactly. Yet, I remember thinking that she was probably doing the Tsoo hunt given by that contact at the southern end of Skyway. I don't know why, but this name pressed my buttons. It still pleases me when I say it in my head. At the time, I was extremely envious of not having it while also felt great pity towards myself because I knew that would have never thought of it.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

My favorite name (which isn't my own) I saw years ago, once, and then never again. Likely because that character was generic'ed for the name. Sure, we're, what, T for Teens, or something? Mature? But everyone knows young kids play this game as well, so the racier names probably draw the wrong kind of GM attention, as well as being reported because you can't just change this channel. (Okay, you could change your server, but now you're just being obtuse. Or I am, since I'm typing this to a rhetorical you, which is actually me talking to me as I write thi--STOP!!)

The name?

Hedda Bobbin.

Yeah, I know, all kinds of sexist. And to be amused makes me an immature pig. Still. Bio attempted to cleverly back up the name, but I gave it only a 5 or 6 out of 10.

Just as an aside, once I had a character with a two-word name, with one of those words referring to a line in the story of the first comic book appearance of a famous Superman villain, said story being published in the '50s or maybe even the '40s. I was quite surprised and pleased that someone later came up to me and said something that let me know they "got it." Obscure references FTW!!!

M. Bison: For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me...it was Tuesday.
-- Street Fighter (1994)

McClane: Hey, thanks for saving my daughter's life.
Farrell: What was I going to do?
McClane: That's what makes you "that guy."
-- Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

I see one person on Virtue sometimes named Yvette Masamune.

I don't know what it is, but there is just something about that name that screams awesome.

I actually sent her a tell saying that I liked her name. She was either confused or weirded out, because she responded with only a ......Thanks?

I saw that guy a long time ago at the Black Market. It was pretty funny.

Some of my favorites:

Quoth the Raven. Don't know what his powersets or costume or bio were, I saw the name in a global channel and thought it was clever.

A friend of mine likes to make characters with silly names. One of my favorites was I Shot Bambi's Mom, an AR/Traps Corruptor.

Not a Rikti Spy. He shows up at mothership raids and Rikti invasions and spreads Rikti propaganda in Broadcast. He's a Rad/Psi Defender I think.

Yes, they are all somewhat silly names, but I see great names that are not silly and suit the character very well all the time. They kind of blend together after a while. The clever silly ones stand out.

Eva Destruction AR/Fire/Munitions Blaster
Darkfire Avenger DM/SD/Body Scrapper

Arc ID#161629 Freaks, Geeks, and Men in Black

Mustang Sally- Fire/Kin Corruptor. She was pretty fast, lol.

Halfmandudethingguy- Thug MM with the "half" facial mask. The name made me lol due to obvious lack of interest in it.

Mr. Heizenberg- another Thug MM, done up like Walt from Breaking Bad. Loved it.

DAMMIT- I forget what AT he was but he said he got frustrated from trying to find a name.

Neon Peon- This guy must have hit random in the creator 50 times and made his toon's colors after a bag of Skittles. My co-worker friends and I took screenies each time we spotted him. "Peon sightings" were common for a while.

way back when I was still on a trial account (almost 5 years ago) 2 characters that really stuck out to me was an emp defender called The Resurrectionist (sp?) and a Storm defender called Tsoo Much Drama . we laughed ourselves silly with him running hurricane everywhere.

Out of my own creations, After GR came out I decided to roll a dual pistol character as a bit of a joke and called it Gun Fu Roo. with all the flashy dancy animations it has. But i've ended up liking the combo (Dp/MM) so now he's in paragon city after surviving Praetoria

Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper

I've gotten some complimenting tells over my Elec/Elec dom, Electr1c Avenue. Also complaints that it got the song stuck in their head

best player names? I don't know. I suppose Karen, Julio, Marcus. Oh and I like Tracy because they could be a male or female player.

Favorite character names I'd have to say Tankerbelle is still my favorite.

Over the years there have really been a lot of clever names and costume combos.

One of the earlier Green Army Men - I know there are some more recent ones but this one's pretty old.

Then there was Ahnuld 1000 who I saw when Pocket D was first opening up

Then there was Robert Smith, Souxie, and Trent

When COV beta was going on there was this hilarious one, named Ugly Ugly Ugly and I just had to take a screenie.

And doubtless for the OBVIOUS reason this one CAN'T possibly still be around.

Off the top of my head...

The King - Or... something to that effect. The guy made a startling accurate recreation of Burger King's mascot. Probably got genericed within 24 hours of me seeing him though.

The Inedible Honk - SS/Invuln Tanker if I remember. Obvious parody of the Hulk, and really well done too. Chicken-like costume and a hilarious bio about him mutating in a chicken plant and escaping.

I have no idea who they are, but in checking names for kicks and giggles, I found that "Captain Praetoria" and "Over 9000" are taken on Protector.

Also never saw the character, but one time I saw a random civvie commenting on the exploits of "that guy over there".

One I saw today was Mr. Happy Thoughts.

..and probably the best name I ever saw was Max boob slider.

"And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can mostly say they lived happily ever after. But for them it was the beginning of the real story. All there life in this world and all there adventures in Narnia had only be the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of The Great Story which no one on earth has ever read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before" - C.S Lewis, The Last Battle.

Oobe's warshade - I have a lvl 50. Just for pointing out the obvious. Doubly so when he hit 50 with it.

And a stalker I used to have an ongoing rivalry with, Peek a Boo.

This, admittedly, was one of mine I just never played, so he no longer exists, but it makes me grin still -

Not in this game, but Xyphos Celestian. Xiphos being a type of weapon, and Celestial relating to divinity. His name was therefore "Divine Weapon."

He was a Necromancer.

I'm a huge fan of Psygons cleverness in using the first three letters to work into her characters names.

Her brute going hero called "Switch Psyde"
her dual pistols character called "Psyde Arms"
and so on.

I wish i could be a tenth as clever to think up my character names

A guy I'd seen created a remarkably good rendition of Winnie the Pooh as a SS/Inv tank, called the Poohgilist.

Then there was the guy who had an absolutely GODAWFUL costume, can't remember his powers, but his name was My Wife Dresses Me.

A friend of my husband created a character in green and white, called Green Arrow White Dot... because that's what she looks like on the map.

Forum regular (particularly the Controller forums) - Local Man

Roughshod, THE most bad-*** inv/ss tanker I have ever met.

Elevator Man - Gravity/something controller with the Teleport pool - He MOVES people!

I'll toss in one or two more if I think of any.
