Power Spamming Prevention WWs Blue Side

Yeah, and I doubt it made you run off to make a spines/elec, either. But still, you're not young, impressionable, and starry-eyed.

I have a raging hatred of power suppression zones because they make me move at the game's base jog speed.

As long as they're optional, I don't have any objection to suppressed markets existing for people who can't abide other player's effects, but I would not be remotely happy if the existing markets were converted.

This is the only good solution.

Oh thank goodness someone else feels this way too, I hate demons masterminds with their screetching minions at WW.... it doesn't cause me any lagg but the noise bugs the hell out of me.

Wouldn't be the first time i'd gave someone abuse in /local because of their ignorance.

Anyhow, I run in to check something or drop something off and have to deal with all this suppression is just as annoying as dismissing/resummoning pets. Virtue/Freedom always seems to have issues like this and then want all the other servers to change just for them.

How's this for ignorance? Power suppression won't kill pets.

Although this only helps already-considerate players, I like toggling Walk on and off as I enter WW. This kills all my toggles at once, without having to shut each off individually.

It does tend to happen when actual people are on the server. Tumbleweeds don't cause problems.

An honest question - if people's auras etc lag your machine at the market, how does your computer survive actual game content? Do you avoid teams with certain powersets or something?

That's only being reasonable to the people who already agree with you. Turning off your powers does absolutely nothing to benefit anyone not running the game on a graphing calculator circa 1992, so you can't really count that as being reasonable.

But suggesting power suppression be pushed onto others does impose on them.

That's because this suggestion is never about what's good for everybody, its about what is good for that individual poster. People that are for power suppression for everybody are putting their wants ahead of other players. Which amuses me because often times people that suggest this claim others using their powers are inconsiderate and rude. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people looking out for themselves first. It's perfectly normal and acceptable IMO. But for people to claim this suggestion is anything more than selfish is a lie, and it's hypocritical.

Instead of mandatory suppression for everybody, which a lot of people won't like(and their reasons for not liking it are irrelevant), the only good solution is to add some sort of optional door people can go into that dismisses all pets and suppresses powers. That way everybody wins.

Definitely. And this is key: I see way too many people saying (in this thread) that they haven't seen any 'good' reasons from people who dislike the power suppression.

Newsflash: You don't get to be the arbiter of what is a 'good' reason.

Thanks -- this made me laugh out loud this morning!

Every time someone hits me with their ice or thermal shields when I'm marketing, I like to announce loudly in local "GEE, THANKS, BUT YOUR <power> SHIELDS AREN'T GOING TO PROTECT ME FROM THE PRICES HERE!!!!" (Or "...FROM THE BUY IT NAO PRICES!!" or "...FROM THE EBIL MARKETEERS!" depending on that day's level of silliness.

And at least the devs DID do something to turn off some powers that people would set to "auto" (like Build Up or Practiced Brawler) as long as the auction house employee is targetted.

This is a bug (powers on auto won't fire if you don't have an NPC or other player targeted).

Personally I don't pay attention to ppls powers,pets,etc.

1)Because I'm focusing on what is going on my ww/bm window.

2)I really don't pay attention to ppl or what they are doing to annoy ppl.

In closing you seem a little thin skinned on this subject I suggest pm a dev and voicing your complaint, best of luck and have a good day.

And people wonder why I usually play with the sound off.

What I really want is a market interface for SG/VG bases so I can escape all the yahoos who think I need to have a ton of shields on me while I'm buying and selling. I'd have my peace and quiet without inconveniencing people who don't mind inconveniencing others.

And more importantly than that, people could stop whining about it!

I don't care about the noise and effects at the market, but if I could have a market terminal in my base right next to my salvage storage and invention worktable, that would be sweet.

I have no lag on my system during normal play despite being UK based. There is however a curious effect on the maps particularly around SC and TI WWs - on some days as the toon approaches WW lag starts and there is often severe lag on response to bidding and buying clicks that you don't see elsewhere else in game. Many times a click is not registered at all. I am not alone in seeing this phenomenon - many people notice it and comment on it. As soon as you move away - no lag!

I vote for a closed area for those that want it and leave the power spammers to flex away - better still a market interface in the SG Base - that'd be bliss :-)

From nerdrage thread about power supression: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=234898

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What complaints if powers suppressed in markets like they do in Studio B
Re-Toggling
Travel Speed
Base Teleporter
Crafting Table
Losing/needing to rebuild permadom
RPers who never land on ground (prob other RP issues too)
Hasten to recharge base TPers/long recharge items
Using any of the TPers mission teleporter right from WW/BM or hopping zones from one WW/BM to another, pocket D, etc
There's also that costumes, capes, costume changes and auras probably induce more lag than most toggles.
There's also that the same people who intentionally grief with power spamming will be able to train mobs (espically redside) into the market zones.
~~~~~~~~

A studio B type entrance seems the best solution.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Black markets have an invisible "zone of death" around them instead of drones.

I've pulled deathsurge into it just to laugh at it disintegrating.
