One Moment in Time
Sorry, I do not have the information about it. Having just read today's Gutters comic, he makes a mention of it.
So, has anyone read it and can they explain why he is saying it's a kick in the gnads to the fans? Keep in mind I boycotted Marvel prior to the release of OMD/BND. |
JoeQ takes the original wedding issue and inserts his own art and pages in to make the wedding never happen. The reason he misses the wedding is because a fat guy somehow manages to throw a cinder block and hit him in the head, then fall on him and pin him so he can't get up. Then MJ decides they should be together forever, but never marry because he'd be just like her abusive father.

But seriously, what really happens?

That really happened. Spidey gets nailed in the head with a Cinderblock by an escaped criminal and then a few panels later when they both fall off a building. The criminal lands on his head, then regains consciousness before Spidey, and kicks him in the head and walks off.

(By the way, I am just kidding around and rolling my eyes to the explanation).

C'mon, quit pulling my leg. That sounds like someone in the third grade would write. Based on his experiences with a bully. Surely, the Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Gray Goblin, Goblin Queen, Dobby, Ricky Bobby, and Bob Dole were all involved some how?

One Moment In Time = OMIT
Ain't that clever?
And yet this writing is pretty much identical to Stan Lee's ongoing "real" run in teh funnay paperz:
Wherin I, Peter Parker, never remember to put on or take off my costume at appropriate times...
Utilize my spider sense for whatever I feel like, just not detecting danger...
Or mostly just whine about the television and sleep. Nope, it's pretty much straight-on.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
He really likes that half asian-man half Spider-Man face thing. (yes, that's a reference to something... fappo!)
I really really hate this man.
I thought I could not dislike him any more than with OMD/BND.
I was wrong.
Yeesh.
The first part of OMIT pretty much made me prema-drop Spider-Man titles excluding Ultimate Spider-Man. I came back somewhere in the middle of Gauntlet to try to get back in, and then Quesada drops this. Quesada's writting is something that makes fanfics read like epic masterpieces.

Yes supposedly Mephisto is working his magic behind the scenes to have tweaked things so they never got married, but it looks like it will be a joint effort between Dr. Strange, Stark and Richards to do the mindwipe about the unmasking.
I dropped all spider titles at the BND start, occasionally i thumb thru an issue hoping the madness will end
I just find it funny that arguably the three characters that care the least about a secret identity (save for maybe Capt. America) are deliberating on an act that concerns a secret identity.

BND, stupid. OMiT, still stupid. so yeah, still not picking up the spider-man titles that aren't USM or Spider-Girl. seriously, i get some folks despised Pete & MJ being married for some reason i can only guess at, but it still irks me that instead of divorce, we got a deal with the devil instead. not to mention after JMS actually got Aunt May to be a strong, worthwhile character who KNEW and supported Peter being Spider-Man, we got this retcon'd piece of trash.
Joey Q's done some good work with Marvel. But seriously, it's long past time for the guy to just GO, and when he does i hope some toolbag crony of his doesn't take over.
yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhh...
I'm just going to do what the title says an omit Joe Q **** from spider-man canon in my brain.
As far as why do it... Well... It's a known thing that when you create a story and a romance gets interjected, even if the dynamics don't really change or the the characters marriages is an interesting to look at, once the courtship is over, whether just hooking up or marrying, ratings and overall attention to the story falls...
Also Spider-Man isn't the first marriage to be removed from canon... Batman and Catwoman were once married and had a child named Helena Wayne that grew up to be the Huntress but that's all been removed from canon ^.^
Oh God, I want to read this thread but I'm about 2 issues behind in Amazing Spider-Man. In very general terms, can someone say if this was as awful as One More Day? As a long-time Spidey reader who really loved the dynamic between MJ and Peter, how pissed off am I going to be at this issue?
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
Very pissed off. And it's worse than One More Day.
So when Quesada took office, he said he had a few "genies" he wanted to put back in his bottle.
The first: Mary Jane and Parker being married. He has screwed the pooch on this one and it continues to get worse. Most likely, the second he steps down, whoever takes over will have them get "re-married" or retcon this all away.
The second: Speedball being a character. We got Penace for a while, or Emoball. Now he's back to being Speedball. Quesada ruined the Robbie Baldwin character and it's going to take quite a few years of Avengers Academy and other Avengers books to fix it.
The third: Mutant origins being abused. Well, with Generation Hope, mutants are just spontaneously appearing again, just like when he threw the fit and created M-Day. So the net gain of this "genie" being solved? We've lost dozens of decent B and C-list X-Men characters, had to put up with Marvel screwing up Xorn's continuity to all hell, then spent 4 years for the X-Men line of books to have a point again.

Quesada, creatively, is really awful, and the epitome of everything bad about comics.
But from a business-sense, Marvel is doing a lot right.
Since the latter actually matters to the people in charge, he's goign to be around for a while. We'll just have to hope he gets bored with playing in the sandbox with the characters at some point, and actually let the experienced writers do their job.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
