I finished that issue yesterday. It didn't get any better by the end of that one. Geeeezus.

This bothers me too much. As a kid reading comics, I always wanted a wife just like MJ... Then when it came to be marryin' time, Joe Q. broke them up during me and my fiancee's engagement. We had talked about trying to find Spider-Man/MJ cake toppers to that point!

I just don't get how someone is willing to erase 23 years worth of writing that isn't his own. The level of disrespect is mind boggling to me. To put it in DC terms he erased the entire modern age of a character. That'd be like if you took Batman and did something like that... and just erased Harley Quinn, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, Barbara's shooting, Casandra Cane, NML, Contagion, Jean Paul, Bane, the Knight Saga, Cataclysm, and so many others... because you don't like that Jason Todd died.

It's one thing to go.. hey we need modernize and retell...it's another to pretty much just say all that other stuff is trash because of x thing i don't like so I am magically poofing it away.

Well here's another one for you, it was stated that Joe Q. wanted to use BND as an excuse to bring Gwen Stacy back or to erase her death completely and pretty much everyone at Marvel ganged up on him and vetoed that idea. Here's a question: how could erasing the marriage negate her death when her death occurred LONG BEFORE the marriage was supposed to have? Really pathetic Joe Q.

Also despite Mephisto saying to Mary Jane that as far as he is concerned this encounter didn't happen, that is bull also. That is a cheap way to attempt to negate his influence on this matter, yet that bird that "accidentally" opened the police car door for the criminal to escape and terrorize Spidey sure looked like a certain shade of red that Mephisto wears. Also that nurse that alerted that Kingpin seemed to be dressed in a similar shade of red.....also this whole thing about May coming back via the "power of love".....oh brother. Shall we all start singing the "power of love" song from Back to the Future now? Sheesh.

So Mephisto basically steals their marriage via a change to the timestream, yet the both still seem to live the same lives just minus the marriage, yet we are to presume that MJ still was pregnant for a time until Osborn stepped in and stole the kid? Yet Osborn's sole reason for returning to create the Ben Reilly clone and messing up Peter's life was that Harry had perished, yet OMD/BND has restored Harry to life and it was allegedly Mysterio in this revised timeline that helped fake his death?? Then as Aunt May lays dying from that sniper round (which should have been an instant kill-shot in the first place), Mephisto apparently doesn't appear but keeps his end of the bargain by healing her, yet instead of Mephisto doing the mindwipe of Spidey's ID, it was done by Dr. Strange, Reed Richards and Iron Man? Did Mephisto "mind-nudge" them into doing this? Or did Mephisto not expect any mindwipe to occur and was satisfied to erase their marriage and save Aunt May? Oh yes, not to mention that Aunt May DIED of old age in ASM#400 only to have it retconned away by stating that Norman Osborn substituted a FAKE Aunt May to die and break Peter's heart while he had the real one prisoner??? But again, Norman only returned to menace Peter because Harry died, yet OMD/BND restores Harry to life, thus Norman has no reason to return and steal Peter's baby and kidnap Aunt May and have a fake die in her place, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I remember after OMD was done that Joe Q was saying "It's magic, we don't have to explain it!" I'm starting to think that excuse is less lame then the explanations of OMIT.
