CoH Costume Makeover Contest

Hi guys, some great costumes so far. I've gone out on a bit of a limb with my submission, and i say that because it's very different to your current costumes Bill, and i know it's a look that people either love or hate.. Massive powered armour!!

K, my thinking is that for super strength to work on a normal human in the world of the technoprobable, you couldn't just strap some super servo's to your arms as the rest of your normal body couldn't cope, your super arms could lift a car, but the rest of you would be crushed. The only way would be to have every joint super augmented to give you the strength and then every limb supported to be able to carry the great weights you could then lift.
Also, as a tank you're going to be taking a pummelling, and being super strong isn't going to give you much protection there. So a nice big menacing suit of powered armour just seems to fit the bill... erm, excuse the pun
Lastly, you're a tank, you should be as big as a tank, running him through the SS power set in creator is just mad

As you've said you'd rather concentrate on the tech side rather than the dark armour of the netherworld side of things, you could pass off the dark powers as an unusual source of power for the suit, an anti-matter reactor of some kind, which could be channelled to produce your other abilities... just an idea anyway

Very cool costume Henri. I can never make the enforcer gloves and shoulders work but they really do here!

Cheers Powerstream, glad you like it. Funny you mention the enforcer pieces as i purposely chose them for their bulky look this time. I wanted the focus on them as the real purpose of the suit, the heavy super strength equipment, so their usually derided, over the top look has worked in my favour in this costume. Well. i hope, lol!

Also, not wanting to double post, i really want to share the sketch Nazghul did for me for the baron blitzkrieg contest last time. This is the first art i've ever received for my characters so i'm doubley pleased with it. Cheers Naz

So frustrating, I've come up with three different costumes and nothing compares to what is here. Think I'm sitting this one out. good luck everyone!

I've enjoyed seeing what people have come up with in the contests. I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring for this one. So here is Memphis Bill:

Alrighty, heres my entry, and as seems to be popular, I decided to also post many screenies for the sake of making him look cooler "in action"...

However, I dont have a tremendous amount of time as my little hero needs to go to "The Pumpkin Patch" (no, not Croatoa)

Nanites, power, tank... The man said he liked his black, white, and gold, so he gets it. Man said he wanted some tech to pop up from his ever evolving nanite power tech thingies of super-cool, so this is the "I need power NOW!" *ZAPPP* (enter transformer sounds here _________) and civilians drop thier jaws and clap as the shock and awe from mild mannered Memphis Bill into Super Tech, Bad News, Mighty Morphin', More Than Meets The Eye, Awesomesause leader of men... Memphis Bill v.2!

Another tough challenge! I used the Ulterior pattern for the texture. I could see nanites linking together to form this type of protective layer. For the rest, I just liked how the geometry and lines worked together.

It's been a busy weekend, so I haven't had time to put together the next contest. I can either post it tomorrow and give you less time to complete it or I can just skip this week altogether. What say you?

The Beyonder scares me tho. Good lord - the Hoff meets John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever! Now that's going to be hard. LOL

K, i'll kick the beyonder off if you like. Ever since i read secret wars ages ago, i've always thought the beyonder was one of the most ridiculous characters ever. Badly designed background, completely over-powered, and just looks like crap. So this costume is more how i think the beyonder should have looked, instead of that curly haired gimp...

Beyonder is the classic "Tries to fit in but doesn't quite get it" case so I took that idea, tossed in a bit of the "trying to look nerdy to look non-threatening" idea plus a dash of "A power too great to fully hide" and came up with this:

Boring and blah but that is kind of the essence of the Beyonder imo.

OK, lets break it down.
I decided to go with my gut instinct on this one...
And my gut said "Tom Sellack meets Miami Vice" (Dont ask why, it could have been something I ate.)

So, Beyonder is "destroyed" in that ever so crazy machine, but is he really? Perhaps he is just out there in pixels (think Willy Wonka and the TV Room) and all he can see is our Primal Earth TV, but not all the channels, just Nick at Night, and other Classic Stations.

Beyonder becomes obsessed with mustaches and chest hair, fast cars and loose women. Its the life he always wanted on Primal Earth but never really knew how to obtain it. It was either too much power, or not enough power, it was good machine or bad machine. It was here or BOOM!... not here.

Then someone discovers the machine under the Rocky Mnts, attaches some rabbit ear antennaes, and POOF! Beyonder reappears in this image!

LOW AND BEHOLD, the almighty rough and tumble, ladies man, fast car ridin', hot pants dancin', fightin', liein', stealin', cheatin'....

BEYONDER!



Now, to really live up to this life style, it was important to show him in his new skin. Show ya how the great Beyonder is around the ladies, and how he is ready to THROW DOWN...

I think he has a possibility to actually talk to Bobcat in that "Red Room of Fun" in Studio 55...

I always imagined Beyonder to be an awkward looking person with some of his infinite power seeping through, stark white hair, and just a weird person in general.

Okay here's my entry... I thought more in an Entity trying to hide amongst the humans type thing. But not doing a great job...

Also that has got to be one of the most convoluted stories I've ever read. I love the part where he de-powers himself but has enough power to RE-power himself..... huh?

The turnout for the Beyonder was kinda disappointing. Was everyone just busy, or was he too weird of a concept to work with? I'll try and pick something more interesting next time. Here's the current results.
