Grats Henri! A well deserved win!

The Beyonder was pretty obscure to me and his story was a quite odd, to say the least. His costume in that pic was so plain, that I had a hard time getting inspired. But that's part of the challenge.

I tried my hand at the Beyonder and I couldn't do anything that I could stand behind. He's just a really tough subject matter. I like a challenge but I just failed said challenge this time. :P

I think an Ice character will be interesting so I'll definitely give it another go this week!

I've been watching this thread with interest and am amazed at just how talented everyone is. If it's ok I'll give this week a shot by giving the Icicle a more traditional costume. Apologies in advance for the image quality

Well I came up with an idea pretty quick on this one. I ALWAYS loved when Ice Man (from the X-Men I know) hit his secondary mutation and his powers went off the charts. So I wanted to show Icicle in a similar fashion of his powers almost being more than he could handle....

So I went with something along the lines of ice guy with inherent powers (unlike dear old dad and his ray gun) who isnt exactly sure how to control them all the time. His lack of control coupled with some inner evil equals a outward bound ice manifestiation/transformation that runs more than skin deep.

The ice and the man are becoming one. No master, no seperation, a joint unified living entity....

While I don't seem to be doing very good in this here contest, it's rather enjoyable I must say.

So here is my submission for Icicle. Rather simple, but it seems fairly busy.

My kingdom for true white paint on faces, true white skin and metal skin w/o seams!

Anyways for my take on Icicle I started with a plain, almost Golden Age look and then built on that with spikes and thorn patterns for the icicles and leather and buckles for the modern villain elements.

All the Icicle entries have been collected, but I wanted to let everyone know that the results will probably be delayed. As will the next contestant (unless I get a volunteer to simply copy and paste ).

Here's something to keep you all busy while I make time to work on the critiques... Captain Ultra. Go nuts.

Who writes those descriptions on MarvelDictionary.com? They hurt my head a bit. LOL This is another one of those that will take some time. I have to be honest, he looks SOOOO cheesy that I may have to get a grater out and lose some of the cheese! It's a good name so I think I may be going with that. Though he is/was a plumber maybe he should use the mace/ set and use that big pipe wrench (I call dibs.... heh). I'll work on it later today.

Unless I get some inspiration, I may not be able to do this one.

Been mulling over this one all week and really struggling to come up with anything cheesey enough, until it dawned on my the whole idea of this contest is not to recreate a similarly cheesey costume as the original, but to take these characters that in his opinion, Naz deems to be naff (and so far, i have to agree, lol), and make them look cool within that same character... So on that note, here's my cool Captain Ultra

I know I still haven't posted the results from the last contest, but my mind has been stuck in a cold medication-induced haze all week. Hopefully, things will clear up soon, and I'll be able to get back on track.

Okay Henri got me to thinking and he's right, this guy doesn't HAVE to be cheesy. So I tried to stick with the color scheme and bring him a little further out of the Silver/Gold/Aluminum Age he was in....

At age 18 Stan Roper registered with Selective Service.

At age 19 the US military realized that his unique DNA made him a prime candidate for project Ultra and drafted his aaaaaahhh.... butt.

At age 20 he was christened Captain Ultra and selected to lead the United States Army's most renowned super powered division!

He may be an Army of One but he's ready to Selectively Service the women of America!

On all missions, and in fact pretty much 23/7/365, Captain Ultra is accompanied by his sidekick Ducky.

Ducky is liability in a fight, and an all around nuisance, but he's the only one Captain Ultra trusts enough to light his cigars without fainting...

This is my entry i tried to keep the color scheme but the red had to go.
and also not sure just how to show the images so there are the links

Well.. I couldn't really get into the mindset for this week's challenge and I feel like I missed the mark but I wanted to submit *something*.

I originally tried to do a play on Ultra and have the costume be solely pieces that used Ultra mode but it looked like a hot mess - I tried several combinations. Then I switched gears and played on the sense that I got where he was trying too hard to make it in Super society and is throwing together and outfit from stuff he found from home or a Target.

So I used some sports pieces, boxing pieces, single shoulder cape and tights with a simple pattern that highlights the U for ULTRA! I used some additional pieces that had a vaguely U shape to them to drive that point home. The colors are horrible but not quite as horrible as the original costume. I also made sure to use the cheesiest smile I could find.

Sorry I'm so late with this week's entry, long week at work. Anyways Capt Ultra was one of those comical chars that was introduced just for a comical aspect. I honestly think he was supposed to be color blind or something if I recall the issue correctly. Anyways, I tried to give him a sort of stylized U for his chest pattern and toned down the colors a bit. Like Goblin Queen I couldn't refuse the cheesy grin.

I wasn't sure whether I was going to enter this or not because I wasn't sold on it.

I tried to make his color scheme closer to the ultra-violet end of the color spectrum. One thing I did like about the costume was the hat/helmet and how it looks like a 'U' from the front (kinda).
