Sprint is Faster?

With GR out now, it appears that Sprint is quite fast now. Given that, and Ninja Run, it would seem that you do not really need to take a travel power anymore.

How are you guys seeing this?

Sprint stacks with Ninja Run. I suspect that when stacked this is as fast as, or close to the base speed of Fly.

From the I18 release notes:
Sprint buff: Sprint (and all Prestige sprints) now add an additional 50% unenhanceable run buff.

meh, i see ur point but as a pvper travel powers are still very necessary.

Also on TFs where u need to be more versatile namely KHTF, and STF and many more.

Er, how exactly do the KHTF or STF require travel power versatility? The only TF I can think of where such a statement makes even a little sense is the Lady Gray TF, fighting yellow mitos of weakened Hamidon (which are up in the air and need to be hit in melee). But even so, (a) that can be done with Super Jump, and Hurdle + Ninja Run is good enough to achieve the same thing, and (b) you can buy a Raptor Pack for a pocketful of inf.

Hi,

my Claws/SR scrappie has

Ninja + Sprint + Swift + Quickness + Elude and I get 86.7 mph.

Even without Elude I still whizz about at a satisfactory rate.

Cheers

PS. It also has Fly as a main & thematic travel power.

Same... although I get the runspeed cap of 92.5. I slotted elude with BoTZ

Hover for in missions. With swift/quickness slotted for fly, it moves me at a sufficient rate from mob to mob, and there's always the jump pack for a little extra speed when I need it.

Main travel power is Teleport. (with the added bonus of two BoTZ mules )
Yes, I know BoTZ isn't what it used to be, but it's still something and I don't feel like reworking the build.

I haven't taken a travel power on a new character since Ninja Run came out. Buffed sprint makes it even better. By skipping travel pools it opens up my builds quite a bit.

Pretty much this, unless theme demands it.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

Between Ninja Run and having the vet perk of picking up a travel power without a prerequ power, I'm in the same boat. Ninja Run was the best thing to happen to my "all natural" character, but I've been using it quite a bit on other toons too.

I also have an "all natural" character, a DB/SR scrapper. He had Sprint and all Fitness powers 4-slotted. With Ninja Run before the Sprint buff, he did 69 mph running. Now he does just over 76 mph. Insane.

A smidgen faster, actually. Somewhere around .5 mph faster if I recall the approximate difference. That's at level 22. (or was it 21.) It varies by level.

That... Sounds like a lot of wasted slots, honestly. And not just adding slots to sprint & swift & such... but... 4 slots? 3 I can see... but with 4 you're going way over the ED effectiveness cap, no?

I had characters without travel powers even before Ninja Run when none of them fit the concept (my Bane spider for example). Since ninja run half of my new characters don't have travel powers anymore.

Not if you put in res slow, -kb, endurance, stealth, etc. And, if he was using sets he might have used lower-level travel sets for exemplaring, which means 3 isn't necessarily at the ED cap.

I'm 100% with you that it sounds like wasted slots anyway.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Well the Bolded parts would explain a whole lot, but riddle me this; How did he fit those two anywhere in sprint, quickness, swift and/or hurtle?

Not having a travel power is something I've toyed with on my main (I'm very short on power slots) but being my main and therefore my badger, I don't fancy doing Master runs without a travel power. Do any of you have issues on Master runs and having no access to flight packs or ninja run?

She has MoLG, MoITF but the thought of MoCuda, MoLR, MoKhan MoStates (the jumping off the sub ewww) .... hmm.

Because Sprint and all of the prestige sprints take running, jumping, and universal travel sets, perhaps?

Travel powers are entirely optional now, and really only necessary for thematic reasons.

Except for that last one, sure...

I'm just a silly billy for whom Super Jumping is a favorite part of the game. I often just jump around various zones for no good reason other than sight-seeing and to see how high I can get without missing a landing.

I have plenty of games to choose from where I blow stuff up. I don't have any other game that lets me bound around the landscape like a giant cricket.

Waaaay back in the day (before the movie) there was a game called Starship Troopers that was faithful to the book in that we all wore these jump-suits that let us bounce around the terrain. Had been looking for something that much fun for decades before finding CoH.

OMG, the movie was such an unfaithful tramp!!!

And I remember playing that board game with my brother.
