So the PI mission changes...

Haven't really heard anyone talk about these. How are the changes? Pretty much everything timed/unfarmable now?

The only thing I have heard PI missions wise, is that Mother Mayhem counts towards the AV's needed now for Dimensional Warder.

To be honest I would be quite irritated if they made every mission in Peregrine Isle timed. Some of those arcs are quite fun and being timed really ruins the experience.

I only played a couple of the "random" Jenkins AV missions (the ones you get after completing the arc) and nothing was timed. In the first one, Marauder was ganked by his own minions while I was still on the other side of the map which I'm assuming was a bug. Made for an easy mission though!

They've been retconned a lot - they tie in with the new Praetorian lore now - for example, Shadowhunter has been killed off, and Tyrant is no longer the final boss in the lava cave, although they still use the same model - but now it's an Incarnate clone
The old ones are still available from Ouroboros, and while Positron has said they're still canon, it's kind ahard to find a way to make that be true

Easy. To quote Jack O'Neill from Stargate, "So, it's an alternate, alternate universe?" Given the way the CoX multiverse works, there's almost got to be alternate universes where Praetoria is Arachnos-without-the-spider-theme like in the old arcs. If I were the devs I'd add a bit of NPC chatter in Portal corporation about "it's a good thing we sealed of XM-229; they were calling it 'Psycho Praetoria' for a while. We have enough problems with the sane one."

They took place in the past. At the very least, the current relationship between Neuron, Anti-Matter, and Tyrant is more or less based on the old Praetorian War arc.

Well, don't know about on new characters. I still have the old, final Tyrant map on a character - the mobs are the same, except for the crew right around Tyrant (and I mean that specific spawn,) which has Tyrant, a clockwork, a seer, and some other newer mobs. (Wandered through just to see.)

But the problem is that the retcons are still more or less the same storyline - the new arcs aren't different enough from the old ones to be seriously considered as different stories - the mission sequence, situations and quite a bit of the text is almost identical.

IIRC..

The old arcs are basically refered to as 'first contact misunderstand' by one of the devs.

It is a REALLY silly retcon but it works something along the lines of...

We assumed that Praetoria was the whole moustache twirling evil dimension, we thought the guy in the fancy armour was the real Tyrant when it was really an Olympian Guard and the old designs were 'sketchy reports' of what the guys actually looked like, basically if someone said 'evil Freedom Phalanx' that is what the people are Portal Corp pegged them to look like.

Like I said...its a really paper thing excuse as to why the old arcs are the way they are.

Also does Maria Jenkins actually reference the original A Hero's Hero arc in her new one, I heard she did but can't be sure.

I think she probably has to, as I'm sure she must recall that time Statesman was held prisoner in a lava cave by the Praetorians while she's asking you to help rescue Statesman from being held prisoner in a lava cave by the Praetorians.
And Tina must surley remember that previous time when there was a war between Anti-Matter and Neuron that spilled over into Primal Earth, while asking you to help with a new war between Anti-Matter and Neuron that has spilled over onto Primal Earth.

I know that there are some new characters in there. The very thought of a certain one is the only reason I want to level up Blueside.

I'll continue being cryptic until a screenshot is posted, but I'll probably have to be the one to do it.

The old Praet content was a load of guff that dates back to I1. It was prehistoric, clunky, fairly badly written and pretty badly designed too. Hell, MOST of the Portal Corp stuff is. Its a very simple formula which you can crack after...oo..three missions?
-Massive outdoor map, defeat all
-Massive outdoor map, defeat all
-Massive outdoor map, defeat all
-Timed mission of Massive Annoyance
-Massive outdoor map, defeat all

On and on and bleeding on.
It was junk, and it got cut out and refurbished like it should have been for years. Good riddance I say. Heres to the new dawn of Paragon Studios current talented mission writers and builders.

I think they were all sans timer when the Praetorian arcs went live, and then had timers added as an anti-farming measure.

The timed missions arent that bad, to be honest. More acknowledging they are there.
But the giant outdoor maps with Defeat All? God I hate them. I realised how utterly attrocious they are when teaming in PI the other day.

Oh yeah, the outdoor Defeat All missions toad the wet sprocket big time. I forget what the reasoning behind it was, but it was really lame. If the devs have gotten rid of them from the arcs, then bully for them.

I have a character who's been mid-arc on Hero's Hero (I think he was stalled because of a timed Diabolique mission I really didn't want to do), so I'll have to check out what's changed.

Black Swan slumped into an amusingly obscene position after defeating her the other day but I doubt that's what you're looking for.

I hope not, anyway

Oh. Ouch. I thought they had changed more significantly..

Worst part was cleaning out old mission arcs. Lost my untimed Dreck that I've had for four years or so and had it replaced, sad panda.

Haven't taken a close look at the new Praetorian arc, but glad they seem to have left some missions in the Tina arc unchanged, that thing was grindy beyond words...

I hope it's not Shadowhunter - he's been killed off

When you say "killed off", does that mean he's basically not in the missions any more... or actually, killed off for real, so he's identical to his Primal counterpart, only without a ghost? o_O

Both. He is dead, and thus doesn't appear in any missions in these arcs.

'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain, and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile! THIS IS AN EX-VILLAIN!

Unless, you know, he shows up as an uber-Devoured at some later point. Then he's just resting.

He still appears in the old "no, really, these are still canon" arcs in Ouroboros, for people who want to get the "Dimensional Warder" badge.
