Is Ice/Dark viable?
Firstly, of course Ice/Dark is viable and to be honest, end management is only going to be a problem early on if you spam Frost Breath (or before you get good IO bonuses if you spam FB & Ice Storm). Otherwise you are pretty much in the same boat as the rest of us early game. If you slot some end reduction in your attacks and end-hungry powers once you get DO's it will be very manageable, even training enhancers will help.
End game with IO's, there should be hardly any endurance problems.

Once I was able to slot SOs, endurance problems weren't a big deal on mine. It's a great combination of powersets.
Angel Witch II - Chord of Souls - Storm Witch II - Princess of the Dawn - Standing Horse - Witch of Xymox
Silent Scream - Shadow Witch II - Liquid Serenade - Nebulous Dawn - Ghost Witch II -Xiberia
My concept is the very contollery combo of the sets. Ice with slow and -rechg and dark with its -tohit -dmg etc along with both power sets seeming to have less mob resistance ( appears that way to me anyway). Aother concern I have is no buffs per se other than shadowfall. Would there be trouble teaming? Is this a mainly solo type set?
not at all. Dark brings alot to the team. It has imo the best heal in the game (a heal that debuffs...throw it whenever its up it's awesome). tar patch is a great power that debuffs as well as keeps mobs close so the AoE can really tear them up. You have a great rez power that doubles as an offensive AoE stun. Dark is a great team set.

Having a 50 Dark defender and I can tell you first hand that Dark Miasma is a master debuffer. Dark Miasma has a player focused PBAoE heal that rival's Transfusion (Kin's heal) for the best team heal in the game. Just about every power gives -to hit so the enemies will have a very hard time hitting you and your team.
The "rez" that comes wit the set is actually a MASSIVE Targetted AoE debuff that just happens to resurrect EVERY dead ally in a 15' radius from you at once! Use it liberally on difficult targets whenever its up.
Dark Servant is one of the most well behaved pets outside of MMs (and even then...>.>) and it adds to your heals and debuffs.
I have an Ice Corruptor as well and while im not really a fan of ice, I can tell you that I can see tar patch and Ice Storm meshing very well with each other. Ice's slows coupled with Dark's slows and other debuffs should (in theory) make a very desirable teammate.

Yeah, it is viable. Heck, it was viable when CoV launched, which is when I did it. Just have to be careful with your end management.

Krimson it's very viable and worth your time. I have a lvl 49 Ice/Dark and he is amazing. I actually play him like a ranged stalker/debuffer. Using Dark to the fullest and throwing Darkest Night on the boss while taking out mobs one by one with my powerful St attacks.
Also nothing can really stand in your way if your nuke is up. Tar Path+Ice Storm+Blizzard is just sick. Even Purple con mobs will not stand a chance.
On a lvl 50 if you use Aim+Ice Storm+Blizzard you're looking at 1500 dmg...that's not even counting other factors like Tar Patch and Frost Breath and Scourge!
I've got a Dark/Ice defender at 32 and find that is it a great combo.
I find that the toon works like a pseudo-controller, debuffer with some nice damage added in.
I currently have two decent holds which can take a boss out of action easily and plan on taking the second Ice hold and a hold from the APP pool (which Corruptors will have access to come GR). Im also planning on slotting them with Chance of Hold procs to make them more effective. You've also got Fearsome Stair which is a great power to stop Alpha fire.
The debuffs, heal and pet people have already mentioned and are brilliant.
Ice can do some decent with Ice Storm, Frost Breath and Blizzard
Overall a great combo

Fabulous! Thanks everyone for the input. I really appreciate it. Scuse me, i have to go keel some stuff.
A worthy note here: if you take every hold power you can get your hands on (Freeze Ray, Bitter Freeze Ray, and Petrifying Gaze) and slot IO Hold procs from Lockdown and Devastation, you can Hold just about anything. Freezing up Cyclops and Minotaurs on ITF and then making them spin in the air with GW's Soulstorm is not only effective, but looks reallly cool Also, you can put that Lockdown proc in Dark Servant for a little added mitigation.
FYI, Devastation proc is 15% chance to Hold target and Lockdown proc is 15% chance for +2 Mag hold. Your Hold powers have a pretty good recharge time if I recall correctly, so it is rather easy to get not only the Holds to stack, but the procs to stack as well.
Mezzing for fun and profit.
Just to throw my $.02 onto the pile, I adore my Ice/Dark corruptor. She mostly duo'd her way to 50, but I have played her on larger teams, and I now solo her quite a bit. She's great at crowd control and as Steeple alluded to, there are few opponents she can't lock down with stacked holds. She had end problems in the early game, but none for many levels now. I strongly encourage you to try it. Great fun.
I've been tryin to find a new Corr combo (other than Fire/Dark) and since I do like playing my Dom, an Ice/Dark sounds like the best compromise between the two ATs. Just wondering, if there's any need for Haste on an Ice/Dark Corr? Would also appreciate any feedback on the following quick power selection:

Ice/ is a bit on the slow side for me so in my build Haste is a MUST. I like Ice Storm, Frost Breath and Blizzard up as much as possible....but your mileage may vary. My toon ended up going for the scorpion shield route for the extra defense.
Hmmm thanks for pointing that out, I thought it was +Res like all the other sets. Did you take anything else from Mace Mastery? And can I still use that PPP if my toon is going Hero side or would I have to bring him back to Villain to get it? Will have to see where I can squeeze in Hasten.
Playing around with Mids for a Ice/Dark but seems to have some issues with end. Is it worth it? Thanks

Stamina will be a must
will have to stick in an End Redux for all those big toggles, location & targeted aoe's till you get some key IO's in and ancillary powers
Pick your choice -
Power Sink
Dark Consumption
Conserve Power
Put these in your Health power slots
Numina's Convalescence: +Regen & +Recovery
Miracle: +Recovery
In your DN, Keep a 5set IO set which covers good endredux, and 1 EndRedux IO
your end issues answered
If you want to use mace mastery, you'll have to unlock it villain-side as usual by doing a patron arc, but once you've done that then you can go hero and still keep it. You will have to level to 40 in the isles first, though, or else swap back over to full villain temporarily once you hit 40.
I honestly wouldn't bother with much of anything else from mace. You've already got 3 holds so you don't need web cocoon, you've got slows out the wazoo so you don't need web envelope, and focused accuracy is a definite meh. The pet might be cool, but it's not worth the useless power you'd have to take to get it, IMO.
Frankly, I'm not even sure mace'd be worth it given that there's really only one useful power in it. YMMV, but I'd rather get more than that from my epic pool. I'd personally take literally any of the other patron or epic pools first, simply because they each offer more than one useful power. I guess it depends on how important defense is to you - mace is the only place to get it, but you do pay a hefty price for that.

This is what it means to be a tank!
Plus, with all the -to-hit (and slows), you won't need much defense, if any. My Dark Defender doesn't have any form of defense outside of what comes in slotted Shadow Fall and he is really safe. You'd be better off with an Epic that will give you more to choose from.

Justice
I was thinking the same thing. The other Epic/PP pools have much more useful powers in them. The reason I'm leaning towards Electricity Mastery (if I ever get this toon that high) is I can replace Bitter Freeze Ray with Shocking Bolt and that way I can squeeze in Hasten as well. SB casts faster, costs less End, and recharges faster. The hold is slightly shorter, but that's easily fixed with the right IOs. The pool itself has the fastest recharging +End ability - Power Sink. So overall, I think it's a much more useful selection in my case.
What's everyone's take on Bitter Freeze Ray? From what I've read in older guides and posts a lot of people aren't happy with it's long cast time. I've yet to try it myself.
imho anything/dark is viable.

I normally go for Scorpion Shield and if I have room to spare. I Use Web Envelope for a cheap purple set and I will Take the pet if I feel like it...it distracts the baddies and adds a bit of dmg. to each their own though Dark is one of those sets that are good on it's own.
I'm a big fan of dark, so anything that has it I'm going to automatically agree is viable. Ice/Dark would be one of the better pairings IMO as it comes with 2 rain powers - Ice storm and blizzard, which of course are a match made in heaven with tar patch. With the right slotting, endurance won't be a problem. I'd say go ahead and roll one, you will have heaps of fun with it
I <3 my ice/dark. Amazing to solo and team with. She is currently 42, and leveling up to 50 pretty steadily.
Endurance doesn't seem to be an issue at all, but then again, she does have some set bonuses already.
