Darn, I was afraid of that. Thanks for the reply though
-
Would I have to start the character in Paragon or could I roll a Defender or Controller in Praetoria and just select Hero at the end?
-
I was thinking the same thing. The other Epic/PP pools have much more useful powers in them. The reason I'm leaning towards Electricity Mastery (if I ever get this toon that high) is I can replace Bitter Freeze Ray with Shocking Bolt and that way I can squeeze in Hasten as well. SB casts faster, costs less End, and recharges faster. The hold is slightly shorter, but that's easily fixed with the right IOs. The pool itself has the fastest recharging +End ability - Power Sink. So overall, I think it's a much more useful selection in my case.
What's everyone's take on Bitter Freeze Ray? From what I've read in older guides and posts a lot of people aren't happy with it's long cast time. I've yet to try it myself. -
Hmmm thanks for pointing that out, I thought it was +Res like all the other sets. Did you take anything else from Mace Mastery? And can I still use that PPP if my toon is going Hero side or would I have to bring him back to Villain to get it? Will have to see where I can squeeze in Hasten.

I've been tryin to find a new Corr combo (other than Fire/Dark) and since I do like playing my Dom, an Ice/Dark sounds like the best compromise between the two ATs. Just wondering, if there's any need for Haste on an Ice/Dark Corr? Would also appreciate any feedback on the following quick power selection:

I know you've ruled out /Earth Assault but I just wanted to chime in on how much I'm loving my Elec/Earth Dom. First Dom and toon period that I've gotten over 30 (almost 34 now). I never liked any of the melee toons, this one made me fall in love with 'em. Even rolled a few Brute alts because of it
hehe

3 cheers for Nalrok!! Hip, hip, hooray!!

Quote:If you have the time to write it, I'd love to read a more recent guide on ElA from you (all the more reason to play yet another BruteThanks kindly! I only asked because I have a near-50 SS/Elec Brute and I've really fallen in love with ElA because of him. If we need a Brute-oriented ElA guide I suppose I'll have to throw one together.
hehe). Your Dark/Dark was very well written and I especially appreciated your reasoning behind each of the powers either for/against.

I was thinking the same. Most the KM posts on here are for KM/WP. I've played a DB/WP to the early 20s and although the animations are great, doesn't feel like it does a whole lot of damage. Not to mention all the End sapping mobs turn him into a useless bystander. So I've rolled a KM/Elec for the sake of trying out both a different primary and secondary. Even though he's only lvl 10, his attacks feel much more damaging than DB, so I can't wait for the higher levels. I already miss Quick Recovery and Rise to the Challenge though, and having to wait till lvl 28 for Energize and lvl 35 for Power Sink is gonna be difficult!
Still not sure though which of the two /WP or /Elec will end up feeling sturdier on my Brutes atthe higher lvls and in the long run and afraid of leveling him up then finding out the other would have been better. -
Thanks again for the great guide
I'm relatively new to this game, would you mind explaining what "Standard attack slotting" is?
-
@Wiccania: Thanks for the helpful feedback. Even though I haven't slotted it with more than just an Accuracy atm, I've been using it tonight this way (after aggro is well established by the tank) and it's more useful this way. Thanks

Been reading through Liliaceae's Dominator Powers Guide - I18 and some great posts here such as Elec/Earth - dominator smash? which have helped tremendously in building my Elec/Earth Dom. He's only 23 atm, and I'm starting to doubt the usefulness of Chain Fences. It's good that it doesn't prevent knockdowns/knockbacks like some other AOE Immobs, but with the aggro I tend to pull if I use it, I rarely touch the thing anymore. Should I just completely drop it, is there some tactic to using it that I've missed, or is it more useful with some later powers that I haven't picked up yet? I'd like to be able to squeeze in Super Speed somewhere in my build, but I'm making do with Ninja Run and the occasional use of my Jet Pack for now.

Uhm, Conductive Aura doesn't use any endurance at all actually
It's why I use it all the time. Great guide to refer to:
Liliaceae's Dominator Powers Guide - I18 -
Just wanted to chip in here as well. First I want to thank the kind soul in Union Chat that suggested to try out an Elec/Earth and secondly for everyone that's contributed to this thread (most useful one I've found when I searched for this combo). I only recently came back to the game to try out GR, and have spent almost a week rolling various Dom toons. All of them had something I liked but still felt they were lacking some way, until I tried this one. He's only lvl 14 but I think the two sets mesh together very well in both play style and thematically speaking. I try to team up as much as possible so luckily I didn't struggle as much in the lower levels, but I do agree those Destroyers are a royal pain (only missions where our full team wiped). Hopefully this will be the toon that I keep playing past the mid-20s as the highest I have is a lvl 24 (Earth/Elec)
-
I've just recently returned to the game (never played past the mid-20s) and am trying out an elec/elec, earth/fire, and earth/earth. So far I'm preferring earth/earth even though he's only lvl 10 but I can't figure out a good build. I've come up with the following so far, and not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions are more than welcome:

- Should I even bother with Super Speed if I've got Ninja Run?
- What Ancillary/Epic Pool is good with this combo?

Thanks for the useful info everyone. A little spin on the OP's original question:
Is there a way to keep the same UI skin (black/grey) while changing only the loading screen (not too fond of the Going Rogue one but the UI is nicer than the blue/red one)? I've tried -uiskin 1 but that's all red (villains) and -uiskin 0 seems to be the same as -uiskin 2. -
Yup worked for me
-
Definitely worthy of a sticky!! Amazing post, thanks a lot for all your effort!

Would it be a good idea to take Incinerate while levelling then drop it on a respec later on for Stone Cages? I've just started a new Earth/Fire Dom myself
