The ref probably blew the whistle to prevent Bocanegra from passing out due to sleeper hold. Gotta protect the players.

Did that Gay fella get a red card and a life time ban for being a pervert on the pitch?

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. I just can't believe England at the moment. I had really hoped the USA game helped identified what areas we needed to improve on, but instead Capello was loyal to the wrong players and a formation this is just doesn't seem to work.

Granted David James did perform well, but there wasn't much coming his way. I still reckon he should've stuck with Green.

Lennon is just too light weight and he couldn't even muscle through any of the Algerians. Yes he has pace... so let him come on as an impact sub when everyone else is tired.

It just feels as if England are going backwards...

Well, at least we haven't lost any of our matches and it's in our hands for the final group game.

Slovenia was the better team for the first 60 minutes, but in the end USA was just robbed. I hope that rev never gets to do a WC match again.

Also: lol @ England. That was just depressing. Maybe even worse than France. At least France gave the impression that they didn't want to do any better, England looked like they just couldn't do any better.

I don't remember an England side playing so bad but if they place in the top two then that's all that matters.

Englands next Friendly is booked against Fraggle Rock.

Both teams will be fielding a team of muppets.

If you can play better I'd like to see you try. Good joke tho although not as good as USA.

Americans have already defeated the English 1 to 1. So, Americans like me CAN play better.

England played badly. I watched the game (first one I've watched since I was about 16) and I still wish I could turn the contradicting comentery off.

Indeed. My country aren't in it this time but i'm closely following the England team... and of course rooting for their opponents

That match however will be forgotten amongst many other airings that were, just plain dull. On both sides. For all my obligatory rooting for the other side, England should have won that match but for their performance on the field they didn't deserve to, neither did the yanks.

Lacklustre showing from both sides.

Is anybody else fed up of watching the non england games in this world cup but hearing them talk MORE about the england team than the actual teams playing?

Its seriously annoying! Bet if NI/scotland/wales were in the world cup [wishfull thinking i know ] we wouldnt get nowhere near as much coverage!

I'm proud to be Welsh, but I'm supporting England in the World Cup as Wales isn't in it, and as far as I'm concerned, Welsh, Scots, English, we're all British.

The first four minutes of the USA match was awesome, but now I'm feeling a mixture of depression at our boys' mediocre play and anger at them for not being better. We used to be inspirational and even if we didn't win we were entertaining. That Algeria match was awful. It was like watching a bunch of cretinous amateurs shamble about the pitch. Rooney's comment about the fans at the end was fairly mild I thought, but he should know that the reason they were booed was that they simply aren't doing their damn job.

Miracles may happen, of course, but they need to start playing like a team and less like a spontaneous Sunday afternoon kickabout in the park with strangers.

Eco.

I can't see why every Englishman (and woman ) is so upset about "our boys" performance in South Africa.

After all we took on the might of the USA and got a draw, hell we even scored a goal

Then we held that great footballing nation Algeria to another draw, we even managed to stop them from scoring

Verdict on the french players refusing to train people?

I say good for them, they know they're out of the WC and their coach [who by the way must be one of the most hated men in france atm] seems to be doing everything possible to create problems for them.

The players are doing the right thing by sticking together, Anelka is one of their best strikers [still rate Henry a whole lot more though] and for a player to be sent home during a world cup is just asking for trouble, no matter what was said!

What do you think about Spain game last night? Even being a bit hasty from time to time, and definitely not good in the last 10 minutes because of the general tiredness of the team except Mata and Cesc, I think we did a nice game, Villa could have scored 2-3 goals more (that ball hitting the crossbar, or the failed penalty).

We'd have been better! Useless French.

Every Irish person has adopted Mexico as our Teams to Root For now. Especially since Mexico bet France and also wear green!

PS : Also we bet Algeria 3-0 here a month or so ago. I passed a lot of happy Algerians headed into the match, you'd have sworn the World Cup was being held out in the RDS in Dublin.

The world cup has been made more bearable by this guy:

http://www.youtube.com/user/davidhenson44#p/u

His world cup songs are OK, but the John Terry and Yann Kermorgant (if you watched/heard about Leicester's playoff elimination) songs are true class.
