The New Video is Public Now
concise info but he talks so low and monotone you really have to concentrate and listen hard to follow what he is saying.

Why is everybody talking about GR? Doesnt the video say its a prelude to GR and only part 1?
Im expecting part 2 onwards to be more about GR and then the future of the game
Part 1 = past
Part 2 = present
Part 3 = future
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
Just incase anybody missed it, on the comments section of the video on facebook, COH says this:
Hey - here's a little extra information from Matt "Positron" Miller: The Incarnate system will add layers of complexity and power that fits in with what players are familiar with in comic books. You will have to earn these abilities, and it may be some of the most challenging content youve ever experienced. |

Both of these are true in terms of differentiating CoH from the average MMO. CoH has more comic book in it than most MMOs, and the developers of CoH listen to and communicate with the players more than those of most MMOs. (And as a result, I'm pretty sure they have more desk-induced forehead bruises than the developers of most MMOs.)

And while there's more MMO than comic book in the game (one of its few real weaknesses), there is enough comic book to satisfy most comics fans.

You know, when I watch this, it strikes me just how awesome our developers are. I'm impressed by how passionate Matt Miller is about the game. I'm guessing that he got picked on relentlessly when he was in high school, and that a lot of people probably give him grief today about how weird he is today. Well, I live your pain, man. This is exactly the kind of guy I dig hanging out with, and I for one am really glad that he's latched on something he obviously finds so fun and enjoyable, and that in the end, makes him successful enough that he gets to pick on the former bullies who are probably working in grocery stores and restaurants today.
This might sound like an off-the-wall kind of thing to say, but hopefully it's flattering enough to be in a good way. Melissa Bianco is HOT. No, not supermodel gorgeous, but I don't go for those bimbos. Melissa is smart, she's geeky, she's talented, and she's very pretty. Her eyes are absolutely gorgeous. To people like me who view "sexy" as more that just about raw sex appeal (but still, as human beings, at least part of the equation), she's got it going on. Mr. Bianco is a very lucky man. All that, and she's all big and important, too!
Jay Doherty is freakin' hilarious. His "Super Lumberjack" tangent could have been silly, but he pulls it off flawlessly. That line actually had good classic comic timing. I've added it to my signature, something I very rarely update.
Jesse and Chris... God bless 'em, I love the guys. On the forums and in-game, they're awesome to behold, but I feel like the marketing people gave them a sheet and said, "Here, just read off the features." I know this was just a kind of corny marketing video, but I've seen you guys in action. Be more enthused about your projects! That being said, I'm still a Back Alley Brawler fan.
Anyway, Going Rogue looks really exciting. I can't wait for it to get here. I really do hope that you all at some point do decide to revamp some of the existing zones and "ultraize" them. I know you've said you probably won't, and it sounds kind of like a waste of time you could be working on new stuff, but there's also something to be said for a consistent level of quality throughout the game, too. I really do think it would be time well spent. It doesn't have to be all at once, just a building here, a street there, and before you know it, the most well-traveled places will be all shiny and new (or shiny and grimy, as the situation warrants), and then everything will be shiny.
Can't wait for part two of the video!
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

To the devs, Reichsman is "challenging content".
To me it's a 30 minutes drawn out cycling of my attack chain over and over while getting my mez protection crapped on.
To the devs, the STF if "challenging content."
To me it's Statesman sitting alone on his little boat because the vast majority of players tried it once and didn't want to bother with it again.
To the devs, the Shadow Shard TFs are "challenging content".
Yeah.
I think the challenge will be keeping most people from rage quitting because their character isn't good enough even on the lowest difficulty setting, their teams lacks the magic powerset needed or they can't guess the number between 1 and 1000 that Castle was thinking of when he designed an encounter.

Yeah, they keep saying that, and every time it makes me cringe.

As this is my only MMO (outside of the free trials of WoW and Pirates of the Burning Sea), I'll put it to you guys for confirmation, but don't we have THE BEST community, hands-down?
I call shenanigans on Ghost Falcon, saying he thinks we've got "one of the" best communities around.

EDIT: Silly Story: Back when I was playing SOmE other game, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... I used to visit these forums for fun. I enjoyed the players' and developers' posts and general attitude so much, from time to time I would hit up the Dev Tracker and browse around from there.
I don't think I see it as positive just in comparison to previous bad experiences with other companies and communities... I honestly think it's consistently been a much more fun place than normal.
I believe the comicbook culture, and the unabashed pride in that sort of enjoyment, has something to do with that. Not that everyone here that is a part of making this community great is/was a comicbook fan (Plenty are not), but something about that basis, or core, of that sort of camaraderie pervades the whole atmosphere.
I've thought it is somewhat attached to the great bios you'll see in-game. Not just by role-players and the like. From all sorts of players. *shrugs*
EDIT EDIT: Also, the fact that this game doesn't conform to a lot of other stale standards and is a bit unconventional (Compared to the mmo world that became quite a sea of stringent conventions) may play a big part. Or maybe it just comes from the top down and the developers being so cool and fun, combined with being a successfully fun game... made it that way.
Combination of all of this to make it a (close-to) perfect storm.

like i sat down and rewatched it ...the stuff they talk about is all over the place .
0:00 -0:25
positron:
talks about growing up loving the tvshows and comicbooks that revolved around superheroes basically likes the genre.
-which is good , if we where discussing city of heroes but what thoughts went into going rouge?-
0:25 -0:30
talks about being involved with the game and the ability to create own stories and characters
-needs elaboration-
0:30-0:30
"what going rouge represents is something we always wanted and where actually able to realize that now"
-huh?
are you saying that some new was involved so now you can make the game or you where just making the game and figured out why you where doing it in the first place?-
it kinda jumps around like that throughout the video to that point i don't know what they are talking about ....it's like that with everybody except for
sexy jay
even though it was humorous it got the point across of customization that you can make just about anything even a lumberjack.
babs
gives good info about the game far as new powersets ,new zones ,new animations but you don't know who is talking
like babs starts talking at 2:55 -at 3:06 pops up on screen disappears 3:10 so it's like you have to catch whats he is saying quickly in a window of 15seconds while being distracted by images of the game.
ghost falcon he's gives really good concise info but he talks so low and monotone you really have to concentrate and listen hard to follow what he is saying to make that worse his part's are broken up through out the video when it should have been in the first part because he gives really good info about the game that sets a baseline for what going rouge is about.
it's just hard to follow and i don't know how a new person would interpret it,in all honesty if i didn't know what going rouge was before hand i wouldn't have a clue what i just watched.
