Exactly. The essence of Forum Kombat is not about flames, but trolls. Mortal men and women defending your own thread.

In many of the more relaxed websites on the internet, the Comic and Hero/Villain Culture threads in City of Heroes Forum has already supplanted the great Encyclopaedia Galactica as the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom, for though it has many omissions and contains much that is apocryphal, or at least wildly inaccurate, it scores over the older, more pedestrian work in two important respects.
First, it is slightly cheaper; and secondly it has the words DON'T FLAME inscribed in large friendly letters in it's Posting Guidelines.

On the online message boards, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the original poster, who instigates conversation, and the flaming trollers, who stir up the community. These are their posts.

I've seen posts you people wouldn't believe. Troll bait on fire off the shoulder of General Discussions. I watched rage posts glitter in the dark near the suggestions and ideas. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to unsubscribe.

It started - for me, it started - last Thursday, in response to an urgent post from my RSS, I hurried home from a superhero convention I'd been attending. At first glance, everything looked the same. It wasn't. Something evil had taken possession of the thread...

Is that it? Is that all you're gonna ask me? Well I got a couple of thousand ******* questions, you know. I want to email someone in charge. I want to post a complaint. You have no right to ban people! You think I investigate every ShoNuff story there is? Huh? If this is just a flame war, how come I know every post in such detail? I've never read this before. How come I know so much? What the hell is going on around here? Who the hell are you people?

They're coming. The trolls are coming for you, but listen, you're life could depend on this: don't hyperlink, don't even hyperlink. Hyperlink and you're dead. They're fast, faster than you can believe. Don't hit the back button, don't alt-tab away, and don't hyperlink!
