RMT Spam still exists?

They must be desprate if they're paying for disposable accounts...but the Chinese can't have THAT kind of money. o.o Perhaps they have expanded to richer countries like uhhh um... Taiwan?

I haven't seen spam on Freedom for a while now. Sounds like the RMT groups have moved fully to Virtue (assuming that's where you're complaining about). Thanks for taking our problem kids.

When the ability to turn off email was introduced, I kept mine turned on, since I only got 3-4 spams on anaverage day, maybe twice that on weekends, and I donzt mind hitting the "Spam" button. Especially when I manage to report a real name on a real account, rather than hbvgtyhjb on @dcfgvhjugfgvhb. Seriously, who pays cash for powerlevelling in this game?

Back on topic.... Since Issue 17 went live, I haven't received a single spam email. Unless the OP is suggesting that RMTers are still spamming via mail, I'm wondering if something was added to the backend to help filter them out?

I also left my email setting unchanged so I could receive the RMT spam. I figured if no one was reporting the them, then no one is killing their accounts.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Maybe they accidently stepped into Pocked D at night?

I saw 8 of them broadcasting in Atlas on Freedom about two weeks ago. I sent in a petition and they were all gone in about a half an hour.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

Me too. I gladly take the time to report. But it's been very quiet lately.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Yeah, I have e-mail trickle in from time to time, though I have limited e-mail on most of my characters. I suppose it helps to report them, but I'd rather keep my inbox open for all the stuff I send back and forth between my characters now.

Oddly, I have received a fair amount of PL and farm requests lately when playing my 50s. I thought that had mostly died out with the new mission settings and all the xp adjusting, but I guess some people know no other way to level. Which is odd... CoH is as casual friendly as it is ossible to be, and it really doesn't take long to level in any range. That XP smoothing a year or more back really helped.

I've done the same with most of my toons, limiting them to only accept email from friends and SG members. Only my senior toons (like my two Super Leader toons) don't have their email limited since I still get the odd email from a player looking for a home for a toon or three. I see the odd RMT spam in my inbox, but haven't seen more than a handful in the last 3-4 months.

And you're not alone getting PL and farm requests. Rarely have I ever been asked to PL someone or run a farm for complete strangers, yet in the last month or so I've been getting them left and right. Most commonly, they say that they've been "referred" to me by someone else who said that I PL or farm in exchange for Inf. Now, I'm not going to say I never farm or help a friend get a few levels, but not for random people I don't know, and I've never done either for Inf, heh.

I came back today after a while off, only had 6 of them on my level 23 villain on Freedom.

Meh, the few emails I get here and there are easily "[Spam] Buttoned" into the ether and I go about my business. I haven't gotten a single spam email since Issue 17 went live on any of my alts.

The thing is my global ignore was already full from back when I played on justice and it started replacing them...I eventually purged most of them. Oddly some of them were like "baby baby" or "bebe" o.o lol....

The only thing I dislike with the spam button is that it automatically removes the e-mail in question. The pluss side is that through it I get the global name of the offender.
Bad side is that I do no... (memo to self... take a screenie before clicking) not have something to show to the GM when they answer the petition.

I haven't had much problem with Spam email lately. Just one Pinnacle particular portal in PI CLOGGED with adsf dsa, jlksdjlk and jneio0887 characters. All zero vet badges, all global names same as toon names, all Fire/* Trollers, no SG, all level 50s with "random button" costumes.

I /ignore_spammer them on principle, though they haven't spammed anyone that I know of. Sent a petition and requested a GM to observe the obvious RMT farmers. Got an email back saying that I didn't give enough information. That's why I asked for a GM...

RMT hurts us all. A helluva lot more than all of the "game breaking" problems like stacking BotZ (for example)...

They don't care enough to even come and see it when its happening (all day and all night, in fact).

Hmmm, I haven't seen much if any RMT spam in a while now. And I haven't touched my email settings either.

These are often the "Power Level" service groups. I see them from time to time wandering around on Virtue, mostly in the AE building. There are usually 6 or 7 of them moving in sync due to multi boxing, and one or two "normal characters" being pulled along for the ride.

I've turned email back on cause of inf transfers and I got 1 yesterday which I immediately reported.

Well there are two things to keep in mind. First off it's not about the quantity of money it's the profit margin. As long as the profit from the sales generated (after subtracting operating expenses to generate the Inf) exceed the costs of the account then it's a net gain for them. Secondly they probably don't pay for the accounts themselves, a lot of the gold farming businesses acquire accounts through less than legitimate means such as using stolen credit cards or stealing accounts from their customers.
