The City of Heroes Going Rogue™ website has been updated with the biography of the fearless Marauder as well as the mysterious Enemy Group known as the Syndicate!

First, meet Michael White (aka: Marauder) and find out what makes him such a intimidating lieutenant in Emperor Cole's trusted group of Praetors. Marauder is the law in Praetoria, where the strong make the rules.

Then jump straight into the action as you listen to an intercepted police transmission and discover the magnitude of the threat posed by the Syndicate.

Visit the City of Heroes Going Rogue™ website to find out more about Marauder, Syndicate and the other factions in Praetoria.

Hmmmm Maurader seems to have become bit more developed than previously. His old bio used to say:

Bred for battle, Marauder loves nothing more than fighting and destroying his enemies. Most perceive that he serves Tyrant like a vicious dog but, only follows the leader of the Praetorians for the slaughter.

Now he seems to be bit more intelligent than a "vicious dog" if he was crossing Praetorian America saving people, restoring order, etc etc

Edit - and even more forearm mounted guns on NPCs, oh please can we have them!

Edit again - and I love the Kill Billish black and yellow leather outfit that Syndicate guy has going on

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

Maybe we are going the way of DC with Zero Hour. Wonder what Dominatrix's bio will be changed to.

I like Marauder's background/bio very much!

A silly thought crossed my mind when reading it... It'd be a fun stand alone game to play as Michael White and that story. A sort of CoH meets Road Warrior that ends with you becoming Preator of Security! Or some alternative endings, based on the player's choice, of course

Haha, not that I think it should be made, necessarily... But it inspired the thoughts and, thus, I thought it was a great background!

Very nice display of the types of paths that can lead to dark and/or misguided choices/roles. With a fun super-hero-y element to boot!
Well done

I couldnt help but think this looks awfully like the matrix when I saw the costumes for the Syndicate at the bottom of the police bulletin... The glasses in particular are very morpheus

So since there are new costume parts for the syndicate, they also mentioned they use automatic weapons and swords. More weapon customisation unlockables?

Sounds that way to me.

I'd love to read this info! Am I the only one who when moving my mouse cursor downwards from the Game Info menubar item towards the Overview, Character Info submenu items, has the menu close on them! Arghh, frustrating. Could somebody give me direct links to the pages please! Oh, and if Avatea's watching, yeah, something's funky with the menu's on the GoRo website.

Edit: Okay, found the Maurader info under News, but the menu's are still funky...sometimes. Yeah, those are great problems to fix. :P

IE8, latest version. Bizarro menu items close when I move the cursor from the menu heading down towards the submenu items. If I hold my tongue at just the right angle, move the cursor around wildly and clap my hands three times for Tinkerbell's assistance, sometimes, it'll stay open, but mostly they close on me before I can click on them.

Edit: Might be coz they're just adding them to the menus, just saw Marauders item listed on the Characters menu when it wasn't before, but that could also be because I just Shift-Refreshed. *shrugs*

What happened to Marauder's red sunglasses? XD

I do like his upgraded shoulderpad and added harness though. The belt upgrade is neat too. Dreads to make him a bit different than his previous appearance, and new facial hair...

Incidently, what is his origin? Tyrant's new origin was listed as magic (shouldn't that be Incarnate?), and Marauder doesn't even have one listed...

More interestingly, Marauder's AT has been changed to Brute, which gives him a Fury bar ingame in Going Rogue... may be a change of tactics there...

Is there any Willpower signature characters yet? If Back Alley Brawler and Marauder turn out to be Natural origin characters, how about having both their defensive powerset changed to Willpower instead? There's enough Invulnerability characters as it is already.

Incidently...

Is that a mounted lasergun on his gauntlet? o_O

Don't.

Just. Don't.

Please move to FireFox, Chrome, Opera, or even Konqueror. I don't really care which. Just don't use Internet Explorer.

For the record I can replicate the problem in Firefox.

Mauraders Info is cool (now I've managed to read it), it is interesting that he's a Brute with SS/Inv, is that combination of Villains AT and Heroes Powersets something that GoRo will bring to us players, or an NPC only thing? I like the look of the character, he seems suitably intimidating for a Head of Security. He's 7'11"!? That t'aint Natural. It is interesting that his Origin isn't listed. There's been some selective editing going on with the GoRo site to keep secrets safe for later release, so....I wonder if it means anything.

The Syndicate - I quote; "Suspects are in black, high-powered automatic weapons, and . . . swords? They're moving in on my position!" Heh, amazing the difference a comma makes. I first read that as, "Suspects are in black high-powered automatic weapons," and wondered how they'd fit! The info doesn't really supply a lot of information about where they come from how they're organized or anything much really, it's a nice piece of creative writing, but lacking in detail.

Bring on Going Rogue!

Cool stuff. I hope the Syndicate logos are unlockables for our costumes.

I also like how the three members of the Syndicate in the screenshot are hovering an inch or two off the ground. Must be that new level six power: Subtle Hover.

Marauder is almost 8 feet tall but only 320 pounds? Maybe it's just me, but if you're THAT tall and THAT ripped, wouldn't you be more in the ballpark of 500 pounds? If he was 320 pounds like it says, he'd be kinda slim.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: what we know about the Praetorian leaders does not neccassarily match what the Praetorians know about their leaders. E.G.: We know for a fact that Tyrant is a cold, heartless, throughly ruthless man whose raw power dwarfs that of Reichsman.

The bio given today on Maurader seems to be the biography given to the people of Praetoria. So, while we might know Maurader to be a vicious dog who only follows Tyrant because it gives him a chance to smash stuff into bits, his presentation to the people of Praetoria is going to be quite... different.

That's odd, because I can't. I can't duplicate the menu issue on any of the non-IE browsers I have at my disposal.

Guess I'm special that way then. Generally moving the cursor from the left of the G in Game Info, diagonally downwards at a 45 degree angle to the right seems to do it.

You make a good point. With his width, I'm picturing him as being a bit like Mark Henry, though vastly more well defined. The WWE announce Henry as being 6'1" and 392lbs, and though they've been known to add a few inches and pounds to make someone sound more impressive, logically someone two feet taller and around the same width would weigh around 500lbs. Especially with two metal forearms.

Until I read that, I had Marauder pegged as a read evil sod, only fighting because he can. NOW we find out that he fought because he was the only one that was able to.

If that had been Paragon he would have been hailed a hero, unfortunately, he was drafted by Tyrant.

If this is the way things are going on in Praetoria, I'm starting to think Tyrant isn't actually all that bad...

The website lists Maurader's arms as cybernetic. So they're not power gloves like BAB? I was of the impression that cybernetics were permanent machine modifications to an organic body. Last I knew, BABs could remove the gloves.

That laser cannon looks as though its been ripped from a Resistance armor and strapped/tied to his gauntlet.

It could just be a difference across dimensions, like how Neuron's powers were gained from self-experimentation (as far as we know) whereas Synapse's were forced on him. Marauder may have just had them installed permanently.

I'm starting to wonder about the look of it - it's just strapped to his gauntlet with belts. Couldn't Marauder have visited Neuron or Anti-Matter or even some other scientist type to bolt it properly onto the gauntlet? XD
