Forumers! Let's go represent our City Pride on Kotaku!
I love every time a CoH post pops up on Kotaku, or any other MMORPG post besides wow for that matter
some idiot always goes COH is still around? Or I didn't know this game still existed! or something dumb along those lines.
Of course you didn't know it still existed. Obviously you don't like the game, so why would you google it every day to find out if it was still around? An MMO doesn't die just because you don't like it... but everyone believes the world revolves around them, etc etc etc

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
Hmm. Some of the comments are worthy of note;
-Mitten hands and old character models: Bad
-Repetitive low level missions and the older content: Bad
-Repetitive maps: Bad
So... What was that about new shiny zones being 'better'?
Shutting up? Nope. Never.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

If you want to nab percentages of positive/negative comments, or weigh the enthusiasm of those that like it versus the pessimism of those that don't... or generally present better... you may have something.
All you've done so far is point out that someone somewhere out there is negative. And that doesn't cause a twitch in me.
I really laid on the sugar! Look for the Mtheumer post! I will be expecting a call from the marketing people soon.
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
Good find Marcian.
As a community, we should probably try to organize concentrated efforts like this more often- especially with Going Rogue news. The community has been called one of CoH's best assets time and again, after all.
Going Rogue represents what's probably the best new-player draw (or at least departed-but-curious player draw) in some time, so we don't want the curious people discouraged by the apathy of a few jaded gamers.

With something like that, we could do things like:
- Answer questions being asked (Did ya notice there were a LOT on that Kotaku section?). Developers and Marketing can't touch those with a ten foot pole.
- Photoshop us some nice promotional images.
- Get great fan videos posted places. Samuraiko, care to come here for a second...?
- Bombard (in a good way) sites that we feel are writing City of Heroes off.
- Form in-game events designed to welcome/re-introduce people. Be tour guides, as it were.
Anyone want to work with me on it?

I made a few comments without registering. I hate registering for stuff unless I have to.
I was just thinking this. Tossing around the idea of starting a website/supergroup called "The Blackpebble Task Force" that would take the initiative on a grass roots, volunteer, City of Heroes campaign. I wouldn't have the time to run it, though. Just to help out with planning and occassional execution.

I hate kotaku.

Just spent an hour answering questions, saw it hang a moment, then every answer I made disappeared. *Shakes fist at Kotaku*
I have nothing against promoting the game.
Just several kotaku articles contains rumours being passed on as facts.
M Fahey
Trashtalking people at other blogs.
Censoring people when they get called out on things being wrong etc.
My list goes on.
I just think it's ****.

Currently, I'm getting the infrastructure in place to resurrect my old "guides," but this time in an episodic webcomic format. If all goes well, I'll have regular updates leading up to "Going Rogue" hilighting those features, then updates that serve as "guides" on various topics of interest. I've got a pilot script written for the first few weeks without even seeing GR content, so hope to roll out the first test objects in the next few weeks, if all goes well.

I believe that's three mentions in this thread, so I'm legal.

Hey, everyone! Kotaku just posted an article about I17, and it's drawing out a lot of people with questions about the game. If you get the chance, I strongly recommend that you swing by, answer questions, and show them why it's almost unanimous that the best thing about this game is the community.
Cheers!
