1. I, too, think its kind of crummy to NOT vote for an artist's piece "because they already have immunity." If the piece is good - then its good, regardless of whether or not it "has immunity." Your vote is yours to give as you see fit, I just think thats a crummy excuse to NOT give it.

2. I find it ..odd.. to think of having "Immunity" as a reason to just slide by on that month's entry. Each month I learn something new, each month I try harder. Why waste the opportunity by purposefully "just phoning it in"?

3. I really try not to feed the trolls (but yes - I, too, fall for it sometimes anyway)

..but that just my three cents on it. not meant to harsh anybody's marshmallow.
I agree on your points. If we assume that a majority of the voting bloc won't grant immunity to someone who's not going to be eliminated that month, you could in theory have a winner of the contest who only did 6 pieces of art...basically doing half the work. I don't think that'd be a particularly cool way to win the contest, but oh well.

Perhaps the next competition could have some suggested voting guidelines. Either that or a have a consistent panel of judges. That could be a more fair way of determining contest results because the voters are using more similar criteria than what's currently going on now. The other option would just to switch it to an open monthly challenge and be rid of the immunity stuff.

I'd Lousy Day the nod for first place there because he doesn't have immunity and JK (who I'd place 2nd) does.

But I don't let which piece has immunity influence if I'm going to consider the piece for voting at all.
I used the same reasoning here. I liked all 4 pieces pretty much equally for different reasons and had to come up with *something* for a tiebreaker, and I went with the immunity factor.

There's pros and cons to all voting systems. We can put out voting guidelines, but there's always going to be people who vote the way they do because their imaginary friend said so. But the pro is more community involvement (which is a huge part of this particular contest), and enough of a spread to make up for weird outliers.

A judging panel would have its own drawbacks. Has anyone here 100% agreed with every call a ref has ever made? The pro would be (in theory) more consitency.

Just keep in mind what the contest is for. It might be neat to have another contest with a judging panel at some point.

I agree with getting rid of the immunity stuff, but I do not agree with a consistent panel of judges. Everyone should have the opportunity to be a part of the process. IMO, the way Wassy is conducting the scoring now is the most fair. I'd vote to keep the scoring and voting as is.

What happened to the whole "This is just a fun contest and we don't need to worry about the rules" way of thinking? I thought that the whole idea was that everyone was getting along perfectly and that we didn't need to muddy up the waters with rules because the "prize" didn't mean anything.

Boy, you'd think that there was actually something to the idea that dramah was lurking under the surface this whole time. Sure is a shame nobody said anything about it.

There's a difference between a rule obviously put in as a joke not to be taken seriously and one like every vote counts.

A "joke" rule you can get disqualified over isn't a joke rule .

All I have to say is this...

...

I have a gigantic amount of pre-press work going on and Photoshop just crashed >=/

Accursed Adobe black magic.

I believe these are correct. Wassy discounted one of the two duplicate 1 post results that was on page 1 or 2 for being all suspicious (in case that's why these numbers are different from yours if you've been keeping track)

Congrats to JohnnyKat for winning 2 months in a row (and a tough fight at the top this month too)

I chose not to vote this month. I'll leave it at that.

@Scooter: I applaud you for choosing to view a negative as a positive, that story was inspirational.

@Suichiro: it was not a surprise to anyone who knew what to look for.

@Deebs: I agree with you.
If you can be forced to revise your submission or be disqualified over it then it is indeed a rule.
But seeing how open to interpretation (and making fun of) the hot chick rule is does set it apart in some ways.

@VexXxa: your last few links you posted have been broken for me.
There is just a half of a URL dealing with the word animals if I quote you or look at the link...
are you doing something differently? Does her link work for anyone else?

@Johhnykat: I don't know why anyone would flame you in a PM just for joining a contest (seems rather silly)
but then I don't know who it is or what their side of the story is. On that note...

very well since you are right here and there is no need to ask you in theoretical third person I will say it direct and plainly.

Are you the shaper? or is it anyone you know?

Gratz to Johnny.

WOOHOO to Me for being so close to top three.

I am never doing Playdough again it just doesn't do what I want it to.

And on that note anyone wanna buy ten cans of slightly used generic Playdough? (two colors or totally unopened(

VexXxa's links have worked fine for me.

Congrats to JohnnyKat! Now get sinning, sinners!

I wasn't watching the votes all that close this time around, so this is a surprise. Thanks to all that participated and voted...this was an interesting month for sure.

CR, yes I know the global @The Shaper. He used to be a guy that PvP'd a lot on Infinity and Freedom and was quite the sh*t talker. I was just as shocked as you were to see him posting here to be honest. If you knew the PvP community, this kind of sarcasm is just the norm. So ya, it's not me. I only have two accounts which are posted in my sig. In the future though, I wouldn't be surprised if other PvPr's stumbled into this thread and ruffle some feathers - it's what they do. lol

The flames in PMs is just typically from PvPrs. Sometimes they throw commentary about my art into the troll to try and get a reaction out of me is all.

'gratz JK - pretty soon you won't be losing votes to immunity but just because we're sick of you winning

I'm one of the ones who voted with the spirit of kindergarten in mind so you didn't get my vote but it was a great piece of art...

'Grats, JK. See ya next month.

When I pvped on LOLVirtue getting pm's , ingame email or forum email telling you intresting things about your parentage and sexual activities became sort of par for the course and sorta meant you were doing something right to get so much attention .

of course it goes without saying im a bit of a hothead and get wound up easily so I think some of them were purely for entertainment value on the part of people I regularly interacted with in pvp .

Wow - Congratulations to JohnnyKat! Woohoo!

and congratulations to Frost for an amazingly close 2nd place! Woohoo!

..and, wow! Thanks for all those who voted for my piece! I'm tickled pink!

What a close race it was, too! (I like the 1st, 2nd, 3rd voting system!)

on the downside, tho - does the PvPer thing mean that we can look forward to more of the nasty, inflamatory, "Smack-talk" type of voters? ick.

Gratz everyone.

Congratulations especially to Johnnykat on your win in a hotly contested month (you soooo were following the vote lol),
and hey gratz on acquiring a superfan... he sounds like a fun guy.

Tatyrsause: Sorry you got eliminated but I respect that you decided to stay in and see it through to the end.

Frost: Thanks again for the handy chart. Even though I had my own detailed numbers sheet
this month I still enjoy seeing in chart/graph form, it's much appreciated.

If you read the OP Battlewraith you will see that this was indeed an elimination month.
With 11 contestants and 9 months to go (now 10 and 8) we were overdue to have an elimination.
In fact, assuming there are no other drops (**gives the other artists the "don't even think about it look"** ),
we will at some point have to have a few double elimination months. That'll be interesting.
