April 2010 Fan Art Battle - VOTE!!!
My votes:
1) Lousy Day - for a very cool use of crayon. I think I like that version out of the three you posted, to be honest.
2) ChristopherRobin - Nice super-heroic sidewalk chalk environmentally aware piece
3) ScooterTwo - Play-Doh statesman sculpture speaks to my inner child. Also speaks to how easy it is to smash him into a pile of goo (assuming he's not left out too long of course)
In response to AmeriKatt, Caemgen, Tartyrsause, et al..
Please understand that I very much *DO* appreciate her enthusiasm. Honestly, I do. And note that I was trying to be tactful and polite in my post above - I have NO desire to bash!
AmeriKatt, really. I just felt that it might be better if we kept early statistics, early winner projections, campaigning, "drama".. whatever .. out of this "Voting" thread. There's still the better part of a WEEK left to vote, and didn't want to unduly influence ..or worse, scare away anyone who hasn't voted yet, and might wish to (for whoever they might wish to - they're all good entries!). Not tryin ta drop any bombs here.
I also found that more than a little suspicious.
What boggles my mind is... if you're going to go far enough to cheat the vote in a contest like this one... why then make it horrifically obvious? If these can be somehow proved to be honest votes, I'll take them. But otherwise, they're too questionable for my liking. |

Yeah, the self-elimination stuff is one of the things that I think puts a damper on the contest. And honestly, to call yourself done after a couple days of voting just comes off like sour grapes to me.
|
but I want my sour grapes darnit..
when ALL the votings done.. I reserve the right to eliminate myself before
im voted off the island..
..im also gonna pee in the campfire and use my tiki torch ta beat the snot
out people..
First up I just wanted to say thanks for the all the votes so far, I'm honored.
Second I think the 3 point system is working great and everyone is getting some vote love... I am in favor of keeping it going throughout the rest of the contest as it's actually exciting now watching this voting thread because, unlike the old mono-vote system where you knew pretty much right away what the results would be (you at least knew the winner and had a good guess who was up for elimination), now we are getting some real close scores and each vote it seems reshuffles the rankings, I love it!
Third with that said Tatyr I too really hope you were kidding (he did make a joke about a killer crayon busting his hip or something? ) but if not you really should reconsider, while I won't give actual numbers (I am sure many are keeping score as I am though), I will say there are only a few points separating who will get immunity and also only a couple separating who will be eliminated. Seriously one persons vote could change either and we are 2 days into a 6 day vote... kinda silly to quit now.
Finally as for people eliminated coming back it sounds like some might be for it and others might be against as it would be unfair to those still in it... what about an alternative?
We could have a separate category (separate vote and it's own separate thread) for all eliminated to keep playing along (say starting in June) and creating art and then have some kind of vote who wins of those. At the end you would have the FArt Champion and... well I guess it would be a FArt Comeback... or a FArt Zombie (back from the dead and still going strong! ).
The main con with a straight up comeback as I see it is the potential for someone who was eliminated to submit a piece and take a bunch of points away from someone else resulting in their elimination... this would solve that problem and it would also ensure that whoever ends up being the FArt Champion has never been eliminated (the winner should be someone who never lost, yo!). Plus we would also get to see a lot more artz.
Alternatively we could do it without votes or points as a friendly Zombie Art Jam. Thoughts?
Edit: looks like Tatyr slipped in while I was typing this (crafty aint he?) clearly he got wind of what I was going to say and decided to stay... good call.

Why hi! I don't usually vote in these because I think it's weird for the participants to have a say in the final outcome, as, from a certain perspective, that are biased, however in this specific instance I have decided to vote, while taking Tartyrsauces attempt at public self elimination into mind.
First off, I vote for John Carter.
secondly, I vote for Captain Jack.
And thirdly, I vote for John Mudafugging Carter.
I'll see you all on mars, biyotches!
I almost forgot to do it, but I updated our Player Events thread with news of April's vote. Hopefully we'll see some new faces. (Don't be afraid, we don't bite unless you request it.)

Toughest month so far to decide. You talented types leave me dumbfounded.
Wow, there's a tie for first (which has changed places between four different people), and the top 5 are separated by only 6 points. Superwow, I'm one of those top five O_o.
*Note - my count is not official and has been known to be slightly off.
Yep, the voting is quite fun to watch this month.

These three, to me, fit more in the lines of "kindergarten art" The rest of y'all were to good for your own good. Everyone had awesome entries this month!
Huron: "...with Coffee primary / Attitude secondary"
Charnage: "Please. Think of the poor defenseless desks."
"The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace. It failed... In the year of the Praetorian War, it became something greater... our last, best hope for victory."
1) Christopher Robin, for bringing out the nostalgia of drawing on sidewalks (though I did it badly).
2) Scooter, for that same nostalgia for playdough... though he yet again was able to make something worthwhile (which I never seemed to be able to).
3) Lousy Day, who had a great chalkboard look going. Good stuff!
