The joke that got me kicked from VU2010
Oh, thanks! I'm sure I'll be able to get a quid or two for them on the open market.
The Elysienne; Magical controller
Silent Sickle; Natural scrapper
And many more.
Aenigma Rebis: "Actually, Ely's more like Jean Grey. Only... smart."
Someone makes a comment about ERPvP. So I ask "Isn't ERPvP just r**e?"
I got booted for that. Glad to know this is the year 1950. Edit: There are a couple of things I need to clarify about this. There was a porn site linked in a response to my joke. I didn't link it, someone else did. I have never been warned or silenced in VU2010 for anything. If I had been told to cut it out, or even silenced, this post wouldn't have happened. First offense: boot. |

Since when is getting along an adult activity?
Children in kindergarten get along; Political parties, nations, religions and philosophy schools - don't. Adults either resolve the issue... or start a war. (And would the VU mods have banned me for this little joke? I'm rather curious to know). |
To answer your question. The mods dont ban people. They ask to stop, they silence and they kick. It being a public channel even a boot is reversable. If they would take action over it. I doubt it.

This is better than Daytime Soaps & Maury Povich rolled into one.
My first question would be do you know who the Mods are? Im going to guess no because you havent noticed any of the perfectly reasonable responces they have given.

However, this response demonstrates at least one thing about the VU crowd to me: they have very little sense of humour.

as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.
Dear Virtue,
This is why I love you.
((No, not like that. Please keep your pants on, I know you're a Futa. Whaddya mean "How would I know"? I heard it in the D from like Eight people. let's just...be friends, okay?))

It was a hamfisted response to what was a light statement that wasn't even joking about ****, but about "erpvp" (heck, I can't even say that the sentence of "wouldn't that be ****" is a joke at all). Talking to the person, making a point about "this is not okay", and so forth are reasonable reactions. Kicking the guy awhile after the fact without so much as a word to the person isn't.
Are jokes about prison **** okay? Because I found that in the VU2010 channel while I was looking for this one. Same day, even.

This is why I don't like teaming outside my VG.
I can honestly see someone seeing a link between ERPvP and simulating Non-Consentual Sexual Activity. I might not crack jokes about it, but I certainly don't participate in ERP, with or without the "vP", as the E doesn't stand for "Rated E for Everyone" and you never know how old the other player *really* is.
Just seems potentially skeezy to me.
But hey, to each his own, right?
I'll be out there with the RP that takes place outside of the "bathing suit areas".
Now have fun, play nice with each other and um....don't let the Rularu get ya!
Oh, I know what this game is rated at. But I keep my own chatter rated at "Mild".
I'm not easily offended, but with the possibility of underage kids on the other side, I'd rather not be labelled with those folks who have to notify the sheriff every time they move.
Geez, this thread is still going?
So who's winning? Team Waaa-you-can't-tell-me-what-to-say or Team Have-some-common-courtesy?
Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.
good luck D.B.B.
Neither. But team I'm-too-cool-for-this-thread-and-yet-I-still-post-in-it is holding up a nice score so far! |
I'd say Team Zinger just took the lead!!
C'mon... humor... it's funny!
Yay!

Not exactly sure what you guys are going for here, but it ain't irony. And you can't even really have unintentional irony referring to a person's stated opinion and the incongruity of their actions, only between the contrast of an expectation and the actual result. It could be hypocrisy you're aiming for, but seeing as I know neither you two or the people you were commenting on, I couldn't say for sure.

The OP made a claim - People should be able to laugh at a "****" joke - it isn't the 50's.
I believe Zombie Man was pointing out that this was ironic - as the general feeling is that **** was far more tolerated in the 50's than it is today. (Or at least - bad behavior by men was far more socially acceptable then compared to now.)
Thus - the expectation, that using the 50's as the paragon of a period of high moral fuddy-duddiness was different that the result in this case. At least - that is the case I believe is being made. I mean - do folks really think women had better standing in the 50's than they do now?
We must be zealous in our defense of the word irony - but not be zealots.

I'm on team "let's just make fun of what a drama-fest this post has become" and I'm the OP.
I'm also on team Edward. Edward Elric that is. Small angry alchemist ftw!
