    This song is significant to me for the closing of City of Heroes. While the game may be closing, the community scattered, we are still who we are because of this game and our experiences in it. From a culture that's stereotyped as being too busy cramming it's face with Big Macs while masturbating to hentai to give a damn, we've gone against that view.

    Child's Play was created by avid gamers.

    The real life superhero movement was created by comic fans wanting to make a difference, and gained momentum from our community.

    I know, not the best pun, but I had to go out the way I came in, the way I've been all this time, giving Virtue a cheap groaning laugh.

    I have met a lot of interesting people in my tenure as a Scrapperaholic, bad pun master, and proud member of the D list of Virtue celebrities. I'm not going to name anyone, for fear of leaving someone out, but some of you know who you are. For those who don't, anyone who's ever teamed with Jet Falcon, Vermilion Rose, Lightedge, Firebomb, Shell Bullet, Mercenary V, or Officer Nikolai, or been harassed by @Scrapperlock, thanks for the good times.

    The greatest loss to the internet at large is the single greatest community ever gathered in one place. A community that understands that being a newbie isn't a crime, that plenty of intelligent people need to be taught about proper slotting and technique, that people are more important than loot. I have met some of my best friends here in Virtue, and the experience has changed me for the better.

  4. Core on a Brute would be absolute garbage due to their low base damage. They have the lowest of any melee AT in order to compensate for Fury, which functions in the same way as damage enhancements or inspirations.

  6. According to the chart, core is better, My only issue is that I thought PPM was based off actual recharge, not base recharge. Or is that only the PPM formula for enhancements?
  7. Is there a clear consensus on which one is better? If it matters, the character I'm debating this on is a DM Scrapper who has a buzzsaw build.

    I'm ready to make one of the t4s as soon as I know which one to make.

  9. For those of you who don't know, a "blastermind" is a MM that does not take any pet related powers, instead relying on only their blasts, secondary, and pool powers. The original blastermind set was Thugs, for the dual pistols, but that has become obsolete since DP came out as a set for Blasters, Corruptors, and Defenders. Now the only suitable reason to create a blastermind is for the whip in Demon Summoning.

    Is there any way to make this a viable addition to a team, and not just an XP leech?

    Play to your secondary, take some team oriented pool powers (leadership). Anything that can be done in order to play this character and not be a giant drag on everyone else you team with?
  10. Thanks for the advice, people. I've decided to go with Ill/Rad. I know there are better APPs than Psi for making a gamebreaker, but the character is supposed to be psychic and completely immune to mental attacks, so it's necessary for concept.

    With all of the powers activated, I have some serious S/L/NRG resists and I'm softcapped to Ranged and AoE, and over 40% on Melee. Any advice on this build?

    And no, I'm not losing Detonator. I am not making a Bots/Traps without the ability to blow up a robot because...I wanna blow up a robot!
  13. So basically what I'm hearing from this is that I'll need to get IOs before I'm able to be awesome, and that I need provoke and one of my blasts. I'm gonna need that god-awful pulse rifle, ain't I?
  14. I have multiple 50s, but most of them are melee, and this level 41 is my highest level Mastermind. I've heard accounts of Bots/Traps MMs being able to solo +4x8, AVs, and GMs, and there's no way I could see my guy doing that, which means I'm not playing him right.

    Build
    From the primary, I took all three pet powers and both buffs of course. I also took Repair because I had the space for it and nothing better to grab. I skipped the blasts.

    From the secondary, I've taken every power except Trip Mine and Poison Trap. Web Grenade I tossed an ACC into and called it a day, same with Caltrops only with a Recharge. FFG is slotted for defense and Triage Beacon's going to get Doctored Wounds when I hit 50. I'm not sure how to slot Acid Morter or Seeker Drones.

    Pool powers: I have the full leadership set, and Stealth. My travel power is Combat Jumping.

    Tactics
    I basically summon all my pets, buff them, and order them to attack. I focus intently on their health and throw Repair whenever the tier 2 or 3 needs it (if a tier 1 dies...meh). I'm not sure exactly how to use Caltrops or Web Grenade. I summon Seeker Drones but every third time they don't crash into the target. FFG is a no-brainer: just stay close to my pets. Acid Mortar doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference and I've yet to figure out when to properly detonate a bot. Any help on how to play this set?
  15. You know, I actually have a Bots/Traps MM, but he's still in the 40s, and I'd never think of him as an AV soloer, let alone a living destruction machine. Maybe I need to learn MMs better.

    I understand how to use bodyguard, but I'm not great at knowing when to use it. And I get that Traps' forte is setting up a zone of influence where you have the advantage, but again I'm not sure how to actually put it into action.
  16. I feel I've mastered the realm of melee ATs. I've made a Tanker build that can stand up to Lord Recluse without any outside buffs, I've made a Scrapper that could solo AVs inspirationless before the Incarnate system (with incarnate powers, he can solo a pylon, and AVs are a joke). I'm no stranger to non-melee, but I'm far from an expert on it, so here's my question:

    I want something that can wreck house solo whether it's against a large number of mobs or an AV (or maybe even two AVs). I've got two powersets in mind for this: an Ill/Rad/Psi controller, or a Mind/Psi/Psi Dominator. Which of these would be better? Is there a powerset combo that I'm missing that might work better than one of the two I've listed?
  17. I was excited to see this come out. I think steampunk looks awesome. It's one of the things that caught my eye about Girl Genius, my favorite webcomic. And it'd be one thing if there were some stylistic things I disagreed about, or if the pack wasn't exactly what I had in mind. In that case, I'd buy it anyway just because it was close, and to support NCSoft.

    But this.......

    This is just bad.

    This honestly feels like some slapped together piece of garbage that they shoved out the door so they could start milking the customer base as quickly as possible. Given that's not NCSoft's usual method of operation, I'm going to assume that my perception is a mistake. But that doesn't mean I'm going to shell out money for an add-on pack with obvious flaws that are the result of the people who made it not taking the time to solve problems.


    And YES, I'm a male player, I'm straight, and I don't leave my female toons half dressed. Give the girls more covering costume options!

    I left it with my main character, yeah that's true. I left alts in what I thought was a dead SG and then came back to find out they'd all been booted.

    But considering I designed 90% of this SG's base and never got so much as a PM from you before this thread went up.....

    Yeah, I get that my character is no longer in it, but if you're looking to re-purpose it and possibly hand it off to someone, shouldn't one of the first people you talk to about that be one of the co-leaders from back when the thing was still a functional SG?
