Wooden cloth clips grip to... things... pretty well, without much pain. And rubber tends to have better friction than wood. I'm certain you could have a clip with a weak enough spring to not be painful, yet strong enough to not slip off.

Maybe - but why would someone do that anyway? I know some people like to do weird stuff, but that's just so totally crazy.

I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to answer that question. At least, not on these forums. You could probably find it yourself with an internet search, but I highly HIGHLY suggest you leave it be. Trust me on this. There are things out there that you can not unsee.

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

I was after a vague, general answer - not anything with gross details

i try to borrow other people's eyeballs for some of the really dubious seeming stuff. i'm not sure if it's odder that i usually don't get thanked for borrowing their eyeballs, or that some actually do thank me.

Anyway, the clamps Insano is holding are perfectly ordinary spring-loaded clamps with rubber covers on the jaws and handles available at most hardware stores and primarily used for clamping things in place for carpentry work like gluing and screwing wood, but are quite useful for clamping all sorts of things to other things with light to moderate pressure. We have some at my shop where we primarily work with metal doing art fabrication and restoration. Actually, most of our clamps are much heavier and more expensive, and can apply hundreds or even thousands of pounds of pressure.

"Sexual": Using a chicken feather
"Kinky": Using the whole chicken

She could ask on Paragon Unleashed, the only Forum who's rules are:

1) Nothing Illegal

2) Don't talk about Paragon Unl... [CENSORED].

Oh, there are plenty of forums around the 'net that have no rules at all

Okay, vague, general answer: the pain response in humans evolved as the "get away from that, you idiot, it's bad for you" signal. But since it's possible for pain to come in a situation where stopping to go "ow, pain" means you get killed, humans also have a signal that goes "nevermind that, we'll deal with it later, RUN MONKEY RUN". Both of those systems also trigger doptamine, the "pleasure response hormone", as if to say "avoiding pain and running from scary things is good! do that more!".

In the same way that people can watch scary movies to get the "you escaped from a predator, yay" feeling, they can also let themselves feel pain in certain carefully controlled ways that trigger the "you avided a major injury, go you" feeling.

I get both these feelings when driving on the interstate!

That's still all messed up and weird - why hurt yourself to feel pleasure when you can get the same feeling from normal situations, without having to injure yourself?

Because it's not the same feeling. And because people are different, and like different things. Perhaps someday, when you've learned about more of the things that people like, you will find something weird that you enjoy. As long as it involves only consenting adult human beings, it's all good.

(Incidentally, I'd just like to note how charmingly quaint it is to find someone on the internet who has not been thoroughly exposed to the full ramifications of Rule 34. I thought ISP install CDs came with a complimentary care package from /b/...)

I've got nothing against people who want to do that kind of thing - but that doesn't mean it's still not messed up and creepy

Hey, GG: have you ever used Google Image Search with the SafeSearch filter off?

I didn't know it had one

So, assuming that its default setting is "on", then the answer would be "no"

Pretty much.

i actually laughed out loud at both of the above posts. It is worth noting that it was for opposite amounts of insight. GG tends to come across as sheltered, provincial and very, very earnest.

One day, in the near future, you too will feel the cold, intrusive, flexibly elongated, sticky grip of the Interwebz wriggling inside your brain to forever taint you for the rest of your days, GG! I swear it!

I'm not sheltered, or provinicial - our house is in Schenectady, but we've got an apartment in Manhatten, and I spend an equal amount of time between the two

I know I should link GG to a special website, but I'd probably be banned for doing so...

Physical location or travel is not the sole determinant of that. You could live in downtown Manhattan and have almost no contact with outside thoughts or cultures if you maintain a barrier between yourself and the larger world. Just keep the windows rolled up and your eyes averted as you're driven from one enclave of people who think and act like you do* to the next.

*While in your presence. It's altogether likely that they get up to some really freaky stuff someplace out of sight where it won't give you the vapors.
