Maybe you should spend a few cents and write to the White House, and ask for a GR Stimulas Bill, to help the poor who can not afford it get access. I am sure they have a few dollars in all the Billions to spare.

Not much of a decision there, really.

It's simple cost economics, really. If you want it NOW like I do, you will pay. If you don't, you can wait for a discount or denomination.
This.

I'm the other side of the coin: I'm perfectly happy to wait on getting demon summoning and dual pistols, and I've got plenty of lowbie characters that I made when I had the ideas but haven't played heavily yet to pass the time. By July, I'll be able to pay $40 for the game, the item pack, AND a month of game time, the last of which I understand the prepurchasers won't be getting, so I'll be saving $15 compared to whatever prepurchase folks decide to buy the item pack when it gets put in the stores by itself, presumably for $10. Seems good to me!

Not to mention a failing econamy, and any unforseen occuranceses that are.. unforseen. LOL.

Not to mention i'm a bit of a pessimest. An optamistic one... if that makes any sence. I tend to expect the worst and hope for the best.
People tried to say as much about about CO and STO before they were released and seem to have largely disappointed. Competition isn't "Stiff" until it's actually competing, and delivering on some of the promise and potential.

Are those games interesting and exciting? Sure. Are they competition? Not until they're actually doing what they say they want to do.

Guess what you can do... Get a jar/bottle/box and put 1 dollar in everyday until GR gets officially launched in JULY.

Yeah, when you're paying solid gold bullion for drugs and hookers, complaining about the fee of an online game seems a bit passé

Blasphemer!

Hopefully I will be long dead and buried before that happens. Life without
a visit to my favorite MMO would resemble a solar system without the Sun
there to provide light, warmth and a reason for Ice Cream trucks in the
Summer.

mmMMmm Ice Cream.

I still like the Expanshalone concept (works great in Guild Wars), but I see what you're getting at.

Well, you want to keep the player base together with any game. That's why other MMOs with paid expansions eventually roll the older expansions into the core game - otherwise it would get daunting to new players wanting to join in.

Could you imagine if you had to buy COH then COV then Going Rogue ? All separately? Full price ($50+$50+$30)? Eeek! Not as bad as some other games (I can think of one with an original game plus 9 paid expansions!), but still...

Its for the health of the game, keeping it more financially and practically accessible (how many stores would keep all the expansions on hand after a few years? not many).

I bought COH, the COV:CE, GVE, and just bought GR from NCSoft (too weak to resist! Sorry Stardock!). I've got no problems with COH and COV merging, nor with the fact that GR will eventually be merged as well. Its for the best and for the long-term health/benefit of not only the game but the game's community. Its a smart move as far as I'm concerned!

Wait... wasn't it like two or three YEARS later that people got it for "free"?

Sure, don't buy Going Rogue if you want it free.... in a couple years.

Until then, the rest of us will be enjoying it!

I didn't fancy CoV when it came out so didn't buy it, after about a year I decided to get it to try Villians and to have the bases. Picked it up for £6 on Play.com that included a free month (£8) so I wasn't so bothered when it became free as I'd paid -£2 for it.

So you could just leave it a year and you might get it for less than free! of course everyone else will have played it to death by then so don't expect to find teams.

BTW I will be buying Going Rogue as it really appeals to me, need to wait till after I get paid at the end of the month though.
