Quote:That is actually a decent idea. A character could devote multipleIs it possible to move the Bio creator over to the Tailor/Character Mod Screen and allow each costume slot the option of having it's own Bio?
slots to a character that might be two distinct personalities..
Examples:
Billy Batson/Captain Marvel
Ronnie Raymond/Martin Stein (Firestorm) -
I agree with Protector_Knight:
My travel choices always keep the character's concept in mind
as a base. My Tank has Super Jump. As a result of the Tank's
tree-trunk sized legs, it made more sense that bounding over
low flying aircraft be the travel mode of choice.
I suppose that if I wanted to review all the bonus options of each
individual power set, I could custom craft an ideal character to make
the most of the choices..
But I like flaws in my Characters. The possibility that each encounter
could end in defeat makes me really enjoy the times when a villian is
soundly defeated. -
Quote:WELL DONE!More and more content keeps getting added to this game. When Going Rogue comes around it'll add even more. The AE system has already provided a way to miss a lot of the existing content.
We run the risk of interesting content getting buried, which will mean new players miss out. While some of it is definitely skippable, I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on (for example) the Hess TF, the Eden Trial or the Sewer Trial just because they didn't know to go looking for them. Although you can introduce players to some stuff just by adding the relevant contacts, you don't guarantee that they will follow through. Also, simply having a contact added doesn't tell you what that contact will lead to.
So, I suggest a clicky button (perhaps you phone a City Advisor / Arachnos Co-Ordinator) which gives you a quick bullet list of Suggested Things To Do At Your Current Level. If a player is ever at a loose end or can't think of what to do, a quick click of the button would show a list of eligible activities.
For example, let's say you're a level 15 hero and are wondering what fun things there are to do at this level. You click your Suggested Activities button and get:
* Positron could use your help for a Task Force! He's in Steel Canyon. You'll need at least 3 team members.
* Ready to face other players in PvP? Head to Bloody Bay! Get there by helicopter from Skyway City.
* Synapse needs help with a Task Force! He's in Skyway City. You'll need at least 4 team members.
* Just want to clean the streets? You can always find bad guys to fight in Boomtown.
... and so on. The idea is to make sure new players always have a quick, easy way to find out about content they haven't done.
I like this idea alot. If it were not for my former friends (Honestly, they
are still friends of a sort - But they play that *other* game and therefore
dead to me), I would have been at a loss as to where to go and what
to do next. -
Quote:Blasphemer! It's okay. In 100 years or so, the game will be long since dead--so you can just quit now. I mean, honestly, why bother paying for it now if it won't be around later?
Hopefully I will be long dead and buried before that happens. Life without
a visit to my favorite MMO would resemble a solar system without the Sun
there to provide light, warmth and a reason for Ice Cream trucks in the
Summer.
mmMMmm Ice Cream. -
I will add my own agreement to play your character the way
it suits you best. My Peace Bringer is only a human form, but
that choice was background/rp based rather then dictated by
other concerns.
I don't begrudge players that strive to get the most out of their
builds as far as damage and teaming goes, but that's not my prime
motivation for playing.
In either case, welcome to the wonderful world of Kheldians. -
I second the welcome. Fresh meat for the grinder
says I. (Just kidding of course) Settle in and enjoy
your stay.
It's pretty nice around here. -
Welcome to the InSaNiTy!
You're made a good a choice, but of
course I'm biased. -
Quote:In all honesty, I have yet to encounter any posts or rants forUsually you'll find our community is pretty friendly until someone starts acting out. It's only when someone comes in and says "THIS GAME SUCKS" that someone tells them to get out. Take this thread for example:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=212253
Someone who doesn't play very often asked a question. We had a few "Huhs?" but overall mostly people giving ideas and theories on why they'd do double exp now instead of after i17. It wasn't until someone came in and called everyone "delusional fanboys" that people started saying "If you don't enjoy the game, just leave."
And I tend to agree. If it's not fun, don't torture yourself, and don't drag others down with you. There's a difference between feedback and suggestions and "THIS GAME SUCKS, YOU'RE ALL DUMB FOR PLAYING."
that matter that are driving players away. I'm fairly new to the
forums and assume that some of my questions might have the
userbase rolling their eyes and snickering "Great, another N00b."
But everyone here is friendly and helpful as far as I can see.
You have to take a negative comments in context. I would rather
let the player and forum base speak for itself. It's not always as
some would make you believe: One rotten apple does *not* spoil
the whole bushel. -
Thanks for all the info and links guys. Work has been crazy lately, so I
haven't had a chance to follow up - But I'm grateful and will post once
I've put the suggestions into practice.
I'm anxious to begin upgrading/crafting my enhancements. -

I occasionally get one to come back for a brief while but that is about it.
I had MUCH better luck with skype than with any other tool but I never tried GTalk yet I Have an account though but I just use for IMing.
If your on freedom or virtue and want to team let me know

want to chat. I'm on Freedom, but I have friends on Protector as
well.
You'll have to put up with my Boston Accent, but I don't bite. -
The true *reward* for playing is easy to identify - Enjoyment. All the extra perks
(Veteran Rewards and such) are gravy as far as I'm concerned. I'd still pay my
hard earned $$$ even if my time spent online was not acknowledged.
However each their own my friend. -

for a abuse. It's Human nature that some will abuse the system and
the majority suffers as a result.
Where's the honor system when you need her. -
Quote:I agree. While I like the fact that TPTB allowed server transfers, aI'd sooner see them make a uni-server before just leaving server transfers perpetually open. Naming issues, Super Group status, server populations, bah humbug.
It's not like I have a reason to really complain if it happens, but it's not something I'd write out in capital letters, either.
completely open system will cause issues too. I already deleted one
character because the name wasn't available - A number at the end
ruined the effect for me. -
Quote:I like this idea. Not sure if this option is available on the PvP side asOK so while I was reading about some of the official SGs I noticed something that I think would be a good feature for our own: Preferred Enemy Groups.
Basically the idea is this. Once a SG has met a certain requirement (this could be a minimum member size and/or base size or something like that) they can register who there preferred enemy group is (for a prestige cost or maybe just for free).
Doing this will grant a few benefits: the first is that all members of that SG gain some kind of bonus against the preferred enemy group that could take the form of a dmg or prestige bonus etc., it could also unlock a few unique base items that are linked to the enemy group that could also grant some sort of bonus or just be for decoration.
I think a system like this would allow for greater themed SGs and it may also encourage people to develop their SG more. So what do you think? And what form do you think the bonuses should take?
well as an Arch-Enemy option. Players could lock in an A-E (Not to
be confused with AE Missions) and both players would be able to get
a small bonus when one defeated the other (Keep in mind, the
victor is the one that get the bonus.)
I'm not a PvP Player, so the options currently available are those
that do engage in the sport so to speak is unknown to me. -
Quote:I have only recently begun to explore this zone in an effort to collect
some badges and see what the zone had to offer. Prior to looking at
the rest of the thread I did a..
*Jaw Drop* WHAT THE <CENSORED>!
Thanks for the picture and effort. That zone really does need a great
Monster or Themed Encounter to ramp up the SpOokY Factor and make
the location POP.
Note: I realize this is an old forum post, but I've got a lot to catch up on
being fairly new to the forums and all. -
SG:
Thanks for the response. I thought so too. I have tried it on serveral
occasions with the recipe and salvage required and it failed to go through
the crafting process.
Thats the reason why I thought I missing a step. I'll give it another go and
see what happens. I am grateful for your understanding and assistance.
Cheers!
Note: I should have posted this under the invention thread. I apologize
for the clutter caused. -
*Puts on his N00B Aura*
Hey gang:
I've been trying to recently figure out the system used for making
enhancements via recipes. Is there a detailed site out there with
nOOb friendly information as well as tips?
I've tried several of the Wiki Sites and Google, but really haven't
found anything that is going to give me the info I need. I've also
been through the University tutoral, but I find that player written
content works better during the learning process.
Thanks in advance for any info and for humoring me without too
much ridicule. (Feel free to laugh and tease.. I can take it) -
Quote:To briefly draw upon my Boston accent:I wonder if enough Western themed avatars being created would cause the devs to make a Western themed zone?
That would be Wicked!
Can you see it now: A Western themed zone in the style of Bonanza or
even better.. West World? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_world) -
Quote:Congratulations! I have to resisit Going Rogue for a while
myself... It's early in the process, but my wife and I are expecting.
Maybe I'll get Going Rogue in 18 years when the kid's grown. In all
honesty, I'll probably make the addition in the fall. -
I rescued/adopted several greyhounds once their racing careers
were over. One, was very content to turn her nose up to any-
thing that wasn't what she was used to.
Racing dogs are raised on a very strict diet. Pamela (Dog's name)
loved lean protein, veggies [peas, green beans and the like] and
rice.
Although they will gain weight once in a home environment, they
are supposed to be slim, trim and quick on their toes.
Cheers! -
Thanks for all the feedback! Due to the fact that I'm comfortable with Skype,
I'll probably be sticking with that option. However I am greatful for the info
and available options.
Cheers! -

Quote:Actually, I kinda like the fact that the playerbase as a whole doesn'tThe simple fact is, like others have said, we will never know for sure what the "thing" is and this is by design. Except for the "guaranteed in" people (60+ Vets, Hero Con attendees, etc) we will never know what the "thing" is and who is getting in future betas. And the Dev's want it that way.
know the "Thing" as it were. Makes those that actually get invited
and involved feel like 'Made Men' (CO-X Costra Nostra)
All joking aside now. I would be honored if I were ever asked, but as
we all know, its not 'Sunshine and Rainbows' to beta test. Things get
tested for a reason and during those tests lockups and worse happen.
And being a beta requires a certain mindset. I'd rather play the finished
product myself. It's always better to eat the cookies then MAKE them. -
I am probably stumbling in the dark here, but what is the likelihood
of Server Transfers becoming a Veteran Reward? Heck, they might
already be offered for all I know.
My thought is that each 12 month period would earn the player one
token to be used on one character of their choice. Once used, the
token would expire within 24 hours and the character now 'lives' on
their new server until they buy a token or earn/use another.
The 24 hour limit would allow you only to move your character BACK
to it's previous server if you decided that the player activity was not
what you expected or the lag was too great to make playing enjoyable.
The cap limit of free token earned would never exceed three. But
of course a player can buy a token that exceeds this limit.
Just mindless babble.
Cheers!
