*Puts on his N00B Aura*

Hey gang:

I've been trying to recently figure out the system used for making
enhancements via recipes. Is there a detailed site out there with
nOOb friendly information as well as tips?

I've tried several of the Wiki Sites and Google, but really haven't
found anything that is going to give me the info I need. I've also
been through the University tutoral, but I find that player written
content works better during the learning process.

Thanks in advance for any info and for humoring me without too
much ridicule. (Feel free to laugh and tease.. I can take it)

I don't know if there is a site but what kind of information do you need? The recipes are pretty straight forward. Get recipe (unless a memorized common), get salvage, take it to an invention table and craft it.

Paragonwiki has all the sets with their individual recipes and salvage required.

SG:

Thanks for the response. I thought so too. I have tried it on serveral
occasions with the recipe and salvage required and it failed to go through
the crafting process.

Thats the reason why I thought I missing a step. I'll give it another go and
see what happens. I am grateful for your understanding and assistance.

Cheers!

Note: I should have posted this under the invention thread. I apologize
for the clutter caused.

If it didn't craft look at the recipe and make sure you had enough inf and that you have an open enhancement slot in your inventory.

Another common trip up is if the recipe requires two of a salvage and you only have one.

The Guide to Guides thread is always a good starting point.

Here's the section on Invention IOs.

Also, regarding wikis, make sure you avoid the Wikia site, which has been taken over by RMT and other bad guys. Use the ParagonWiki.

Another thing about IOs. Both common non-set IOs and IOs in sets say "This cannot be combined with blah blah blah." For the common, that means you can't merge two like you do with your SOs et al. But, and it's a big but, with set pieces, you can't have two, say, Entropic Dam/Acc on the same power.

Now, making crap.

  1. Find a recipe you like and buy it.
  2. Buy all the salvage you need to make it.
  3. Go to a crafting table like in the universities or your SG base.
  4. Filter out unowned and recipes without all salvage. You should see only the one you bought. Unless you have some other recipe that uses some of the salvage.
  5. craft.

If you haven't done it yet, there is a tutorial in either the Steel Canyon (Hero) or Cap o Diablo (Villain) university that walks you through the whole thing and gives you exactly the recipe, salvage and inf you need to craft a specific common IO.

Plus you get a badge out of it.

Edit: I just had a thought. I know this tripped me up a bit at first so you might be hitting the same issue. The workbench interface window and your normal recipe window are almost, but not quite the same. If you have your recipes open and you click a workbench, it closes. If you click the workbench again, it re-opens HOWEVER now you have the "Buy/Craft" option next to each recipe. If after it closes, you use your toolbar to reopen the recipe window, you won't get those options.

This threw me off a few times when I was new to crafting.

Also, recipes that you actually have all requirements for are highlighted, and those you are missing are dull/faded.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Do you have enough influence to cover the crafting fee? The fee is listed in the recipe above the salvage requirements.

Also, make sure your enhancement tray is empty.

And, as has been mentioned, be sure your recipe window is closed before clicking on the crafting table. For whatever reason, the UI uses the same window for both, but the crafting table is the one that gives you the buy/craft options.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else to tell ya. Hope you work it out.

Thanks for all the info and links guys. Work has been crazy lately, so I
haven't had a chance to follow up - But I'm grateful and will post once
I've put the suggestions into practice.

I'm anxious to begin upgrading/crafting my enhancements.

Enjoy yourself, but remember a few things. The advantage to set IO enhancements before level 30 is negligible. You must slot set IOs in the same power to achieve the listed bonuses. You must always give anything purple to me, or possibly to Forbin.
