Rumor: Arrival of Ultra Mode is imminent!
It might be worth mentioning that on the test server costume pieces that normally use a faux-environmental shader (specifically parts from the Cyborg and Valkyrie set) no longer have them.
|
Of course, it might not mean that at all.

So, does this mean that if we're not running Ultra Mode (my video card couldn't take it, for instance), our Valkyrie and Cyborg pieces will no longer be shiny? That's disappointing.
Of course, it might not mean that at all. |
If both alternatives run through the updated engine the old shader would be visible through them and look messy if they didn't get rid of it.
Again, purely conjecture on my part.
It could be that the current shiny mode doesn't work int he new mode so they are making anew low detail shiny mode. The effect being a temporary loss of some shine on test till the new graphics role out.
My first thought when you said pre-payment was base rent. Is that a weird thought?
|
However, anything that eases monthly trips to the SG/VG registrar would be great! I have umpteen bases I pay rent on, and I just wish I could use a cellphone or other similar mechanism.
My computer just barely runs CoH now, unfortunately, let alone an Ultra Mode. I'm hoping one of these days I can get a newer model, but given the fact that I LITERALLY bought Ramen noodles today, you tell me how broke I am...

Well, basically, even if there was a recent change, it's been on live for a good while now. I haven't noticed anything different, and I haven't heard any whining about it... so I'd say it's not an issue.
I could see that if ultra mode is a mini-issue like the Anniversary, that they could skip closed beta.

The Ocho was--I think--tanking for today's Hamidon raid on Triumph, and afterwards was tossing around the word Ultra (with a capital U) a lot in Pocket D saying we should definitely keep our eyes out for something next week. I immediately remembered this thread, and I can pitch in that today's rumor seems a lot more likely than it did yesterday.

Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

I seem to recall Posi's post where he laid down some tentative guidelines for what level of detail you'd get and 9800's are about the lowest of the range with the 260's and 285's being top of the range. That wasn't final, however.

Either way, it was better than being stuck on a laptop that ran only on minimum >_>
