This is their answer to leveling gap issues, and general lack of anything new to do.

What Perfect Pain said. The first game expansion, that promises to fix some broken stuff and attempt to fill a massive void of content, is a paid expansion that involves recycled material.
Imagine if there was no content in CoX from level 35-40, but you could buy a paid expansion that would enable the Halloween banner events to run continuously. Oh, and not only do lifetime subs still have to pay--but the game only just came out.
PP is right, this is ripe for a marketing salvo.

Of course, since people are leaving CO over a paid expansion, I'm not sure releasing GR info (another paid expansion, albeit one with more meat) is the best attack. We should get I17 info instead

Now that was funny! Well done.
After playing STO, I now understand CO. They put it out with so much promise so they could sell lifetime subs to have enough money to speed up the development of Star Trek, which they expect to be successful.
I think CO was just a fundraiser for STO, and I'm okay with that.
