If you can pay $10.00 including sales tax.
Heh heh! The Cursed Sorcerer is known for his Evil!
to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
I don't have a single character with a tail, and don't think I ever will. This is, however, some of the best costume news we have heard in quite a while. Spiffy!

Animated tail would be totally killer too, since I never use back options anyhow.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

I'm afraid you are going to be a bit out of luck on this part. It's been made clear that the devs are trying to stick to a one-animated costume part per avatar system. This is often given as the reason on why there's no animated hair available to players.

I actually tested this before the break. Using similar NPC models with different number of cape FX systems. Here are the results:

If I have to pay $10.00 for wagging tails, I'll be pissed!

You realize that no one takes you seriously when you have several hundred posts and a four year reg date, right? If you hate this game so much, do us ALL a favor.

And, on the topic of the thread, I would love it if they can separate belts and tails. The primary reason I don't use tails now is cuz I like my belts >.<
BaB actually just made a comment about the multiple capes issue here, as it happens:

Something I do wonder... "now"... is whether or not the fixes going into the current graphics engine will improve performance on some of these graphic effects. Maybe a more effecient rendering method...
If I have to pay $49.99 for wagging tails, I'll consider it a bargain.

On a side note...we better be getting some REAL info bout GR... if people have not niticed were in Q1 of 2010...

Back to something actually interesting...
i continue to hope for moving tails. Also animated hair as a villain-only unlockable costume piece. i can see moving tails in combination with other animated costume pieces not being that resource intensive if they work more like Nova tendrils or arms and legs where the animations are predefined sequences instead of being like capes. Bear in mind that i am not an animator or an expert on the CoH animation systems, so this is wishful thinking as much as anything else.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
If the tails ARE animated I suspect the reason they would be seperate from belts is that they would occupy the back option so you couldn't say select a cape and a tail however it would allow for tail and belts.
Don't read to much into it yet folks. If you recall, BAB also thought he found a way to make No-Redraw work, but found a biiig hiccup with it
Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

And, back on topic, as much as I wish for moving hair, I can certainly see why they haven't with the kind of performance issues it would cause. If I got tails with belts, I would certainly be happy with just that (though I'm not going to be disappointed if we don't get it, it is a bonus after all).

Well, if it really came to it, I'd pick a cape over moving hair

But seriously, on the matter of animated hair; there is one character in game (2 if you count her ancient Roman incarnation) with animated hair, if they implement moving hair in the same way, personally, I'd hate to see it. If you look at Ghost Widow's hair; sure it looks ok from a distance, but up close; eugh, it's like they shaved the back of her head and then stappled a thin sheet of hair on.
oh, and Good Luck to BABs on teh whole moving tails/seperating tales from belts thing, sounds awesome.
GYAAAGHHH!
happy...inarticulate...but happy... if he can make robes work with tails i will be beside myself. yes, my main character is a freaking dragon, this is big...
I don't believe going the "cape" route for animated hair is a good idea. Simply put, not all hairstyles can be approximated by a curtain. Glam probably can, but the shorter hairstyles like Shy most definitely COULD NOT. What we want is exactly what it says on the tin - ANIMATED hair. As in, hair that has animations built into it that correspond to the different animations. You start falling down, hair animates flowing up. You run forward, hair animates flowing back.
Granted, that'd be a lot of work as it would be unique per hairstyle, but I suspect that if we keep it simple, it might not be insurmountable.

We can now have animated tails, only they can't be combined with capes... and the tails are attached to the back of the neck.
