The Jets are going to the Superbowl !!!!!!!
To the folks from San Diego - I feel you regarding the stadium taxes; I don't think it's the least bit fair to tax ordinary people to pay for something that a multi-millionaire (in some cases -billionaire) will use. But will losing in the playoffs actually stop a new stadium from being built? Unless the owner is going to move the team to L.A. or something if he doesn't get a new stadium, I think you guys are out of luck.
In the last ten years, both Pennsylvania NFL teams got new stadiums despite the fact that they'd each only been to one SB since 1980, and neither of them had won since the Steelers in 1979. I'm sure the same is true of several other franchises around the league too. Look at the Cowboys - they haven't won a playoff game in like 10 years. Although to be fair, I don't know the financing details of the new billion dollar Cowboys stadium, but I would be very surprised to learn that no public money went towards its construction. |
as far as winner of the superbowl i want to pick the colts..i like them far better than patriots
Colts v Cowboys in the superbowl would be a good match up
Saints...i have mixed feeling for them
Jets..i have mixed feeling about them
Chargers..i like as long as they dont cost me money
Patriots..anything is better than another patriot win

Well, I was right about the Jets game... would have had the spread right too if not for the Bengals kicker shanking field goals.
The Eagles on the other hand... woof, did they really dog it. They couldn't do anything right that game, Dallas was just all over them in every facet of the game.

To be honest (since I'm a Redskins fan), as long as the Cowboys, Eagles and/or Patriots don't win the SB I'm fine.
I'll be rooting for the Saints to win it all I guess...I like to see 'new' teams win the SB...like the Saints/Vikings/Jets/Bengals/Chargers/etc. |
The jets looked really, really good. They played their game, great defense and a good ground attack. I really think it is up in the air. If the Saints get back on track, they will be almost impossible to beat. The Cowgirls are playing great football and so are the Chargers. This should be some great playoff football.
Oh and WHO DAT!!
Saints going all the way! This Saturday will mark the first time we've had our starting secondary (Greer, Porter, Sharper and Harper) since nearly week 10, you know when we were winning by average of 17pts a game! I think the cards got a bit lucky against the pack too and are the perfect team for the saints to get their swagger back against before taking on the winner of Minnesota/Dallas for a trip to the Super Bowl!

As my sgmates and I have usually done every year (picking games just for the fun of it), this week I picked the following to win:
ARI over NO
BAL over IND
MIN over DAL
SD over NYJ
My reasons are thus:
Saturday's games were 'harder' to pick I think...I wanted to pick NO and IND but...I don't know...I think everyone doubted the Cardinals last year and they proved themselves last year...they were underdogs (I'm assuming) for this game against the Packers....and NO hasn't looked great the last 3 weeks (yes they have more time to prepare but....).
Then you have the Ravens/Colts game...the 'old adage', "don't pick against Peyton"...Ravens coming off of a 'high' smacking down the Patriots (which btw, ty Ravens! )...maybe Colts have 'rested' their guys/starters too much...who knows....I'm going with the Ravens.
Sunday's games...well I hate the Cowboys so I have to pick the Vikings and I just think the Chargers will roll against the Jets. Could be wrong though

Well, my predictions didn't turn out too well there. Still the important thing is that New England lost. Although maybe if Rodgers hadn't gotten the crap beat out of him in overtime like that he could have done better. Why the heck wasn't there a facemask call?
And now thanks to the Eagles I'm in the horrible position of cheering on Dallas next week. As much as I can't stand Jerry Jones or his Cowgirls I can't bring myself to want Favre in the championship game.

My predictions for this weekend's games:
Baltimore over New England (please, no) NYJ over Cincy Dallas over Philly Green Bay over Arizona |
My predictions for this week's games:
Baltimore over Indy (again, please, no)
San Diego over NYJ
Dallas over Minnesota
Arizona over New Orleans
I'd be happy with that last game going either way, and I really think it is a complete toss up. With the two high scoring offenses and sub-par defenses that will be playing in that game, could we see the record for highest-scoring postseason game broken a mere week after it was set?

So many of my fellow Philadelphians jumped off the Walt Whitman Bridge this weekend after the Eagles got the snot beat out of them by the *barf* DallASS cowgirls ...
I have a new nickname for Donavan McNabb: CHOKE-O CINCO!
I still hate the cowgirls. Minnesota is gonna spank 'em.

My predictions for this week:
SD over NY
Balt over Indy
Minn over Dallas
Arizona over NO
However, I would love to see the Jets and Ravens win just so that we could see a playoff game in NY in January... since all of the remaining teams that can host a playoff game are either warm weather or dome teams.

I'm a Saints fan. Have been since I was a lil boy. And I hope they DO take it all the way to the big dance, but I will say this:
If they continue to play like they have the last 4 games or so, it's over. The barely beat the redskins, they got smashed the first 3 quarters and finally decided to try to turn the heat on in the 4th against the cowboys and got beat, the GAVE the game away to the sorriest team in the league (Talkin about you, tampa bay) and well, the last loss, I can understand because they didn't play their starters.
But still, if the saints want to go to the big dance, they're gonna have to start playing like they were in the beginning of the season. Old school, smash-mouth football.
Geaux Saints.
Well, the Saints are back to form after destroying the Cardinals. Minnesota crushes the cowgirls. To all the doubters saying NO was done, see ya next week. I bought my tickets for the NFC championship game over a week ago. Like I said, NO is healthy now on both sides of the ball. Going to be very tough to beat, especially in New Orleans.
Weather forecast from the big himself downstairs, february 7, storm clouds. . . and did someone turn on a fan or something?? Its a cool 110 degrees down here.
Colts!!!
Well done Jets! And thank you so much Vikings...that was an awesome smackdown of the 'boys....haha...man that's good stuff. Glad the Redskins got rid of Suisham....on the 2nd field goal try (or 3rd?) I said out loud, "he's going to miss it to the left." Sure enough...he misses to the left
Was hoping the Saints/Cardinals game was going to be a better/more entertaining match up but...*shrugs*
I'd like to see either team on the NFC side go to the SB and win but...I'm picking the Saints to win.
AFC side...I'm picking the Colts to win...I'll be rooting for the Jets but..just don't see them beating the Colts when the Colts are actually playing and not lying down.

Last time the Jets meant anything.
Its been a while...
so sad.
Actually, now that the Jets have gotten this far, I'd love to see them cream the Colts, just Cuz.
Wow, 0-4 in my predictions this weekend. I'm so glad the Ravens and Cowboys proved me wrong, I'm perfectly OK with the Saints beating the Cardinals, and while I have nothing against the Jets, I would've liked to see San Diego get back to the SB.
My predictions for Championship weekend:
Indianapolis squeaks by New York. I think Indy has the better team overall, and homefield is always huge for them, but I think Ryan might be a better coach than Caldwell, and the Jets will be playing with a 'nothing to lose" attitude, so I think they give the Colts a fight.
New Orleans crushes Minnesota. Honestly, I'd love to see either team in the SB, and I think this game might interest me more than the SB, but the way the Saints were firing on all cylinders on Saturday, they look close to unstoppable.

Was not expecting that game last night. Where was the team that won it's last eleven games in a row? The Saints win was not a suprise, nor was the Vikings win. And of course, the Colts won.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Vikings get their butts kicked by the Saints. The Vikings aren't going to be able to defend against both Brees and Bush and Brees is not going to collapse under pressure like Romo does.
Indianapolis had better beat the Jets since their forfeit in week 16 is the only reason the Jets got in at all. Caldwell is already under some pressure to get to the Super Bowl to justify giving up the perfect season, being knocked out by the Jets would not be a good. Expect him to have his team fired up, although I'm not sure its possible for the Colts defense to be any more eager to hit people than they already are.

As a displaced New Yorker(who moved to Atlanta to get away from the cold and snow... looks like the joke's on me!...FU Global Warming! :P) I would like to see the Jets win... but I am not sure if last week's domination of the Bengals was true or just a fluke.
But, my predictions:
Jets over the Begals in a close match... low scoring, less than 5 points difference.
Ravens over Patriots... with no running game and no Welker I think the Pats are done.
Cardinals over Packers... this will be a shootout and unless you have a lot of luck, you just don't win a shootout with Warner.
Eagles over Cowboys... Andy Reid has never lost in the first round of the playoffs(4-0), Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game(0-4), I don't think that will change this week.
Of course, with my luck... everyone I picked to win, will lose.
