COH is very therapeutic

So, last night I was walking home, and was barely a block away when two guys in a bike decide to mug me. They weren't armed, I guess that being two of them, they figured they could beat me up and I would give up or something. Well, I'm kind of an stubborn person, so I fought back (even though I was blind; their first punch sent my glasses flying) and managed to get away, more than slightly bruised, but with nothing broken (other than said glasses).

So what better way to vent my frustration than COH? I rolled a new tank, gave it a baseball bat (battle axe) and I'm spending the morning patrolling Galaxy and Atlas beating the crud out of every Hellion I see tugging from a civilian's purse. It's very therapeutic. If there were a badge for stopping 100 muggings, I would have it already.

Oh, and I'm buying some pepper spray later today. I'd rather avoid the whole getting-beat-up part next time.

Autsch, glad that they did not seriously hurt you then! Take care and don't hesitate to talk to people if you feel the need. In the meanwhile beat up those filthy muggers again and again until the rage has left you completely.

So glad you weren't hurt! Kudos for fighting back as well. Go smack a punching bag or run a couple of miles if you need to!

I feel for you, Leonardo. Get some pepper spray and maybe even a tazer, and keep the thing handy for emergencies. No good having one if you can't pull it out fast enough. Personally, I've always buy a gun, but I'm too much of a sissy for me to make use of such a thing.

And, yeah, don't pull your punches on the deadbeat Skulls and Hellions. The bastards deserve a baseball bat to the face. To me, it's always unpleasant to just run by them, because I know much it sucks to be in the position the citizens find themselves in, alone and surrounded by half a dozen belligerent thugs. I have no qualms about ventilating the punks on sight.

Ahh, I see. *Takes a moment to look at her character spreadsheet* Oh, so it was warmace. Serves me right for posting when I was still mostly asleep. =P Maybe she gave her toon the temp baseball bat power, but that would run out way too fast.

My wife works very late many nights and is often the last to leave her office. The keys in the hand like claws idea mentioned earlier is something I drilled into her head. Especially that nice long ignition key. Planting that thing in the eyes/throat will give many a thug pause, that and the fact she can kick like a mule makes me feel a little better, but not much. I still insist she call when she is on her way to the car no matter how late and how long I have been asleep.

Glad to hear you are well Leandro. Don't let the incident change the way you live and if it feels like it is definately talk to someone about it. These things can creep into the back of people's minds and really change how they live.

Also, the keys between the fingers is not a bad idea, I learned that one a while ago.
However, the spray is an excellent idea, Leo.
It's a good thing to have, even if you never use it (Or, especially so, hehe).
Everyone (Who has no intentions of using it for bad purposes) should carry a spray like that.

Not bad if you ever find yourself in the wilderness and caught too close to an angry bear!

Dude I am sorry to hear of this .. but rest in the knowledge that I will track them down and visit the full wrath of the Badger Overlords power upon them until they are but a mere veneer on the pavement of life. And when I have finished I will set upon them the full fury and insanity of the Band of Angry Squirrels (who are there to serve only the Badger Overlord), who will do a clean up job, leaving no evidence whatsoever thus protecting all those who participate in this just and righteous REVENGE!

I was in a similar situation once when I was in college. I got attacked over a seat on a crowded bus. At least that was what he said right before he tried to physically pull me out of it, then gave me a black eye and a bloody nose for resisting, but I personally think the punk just wanted an excuse to use a total stranger as a punching bag. After I came to class the next day with that black eye, a friend taught me the key-claw trick mentioned by others in this thread.

I also agree that this game can be therapeutic. I've blown off a lot of steam over personal problems over the years I've been playing, whether through talking about them with the friends in my SG, or the catharsis of combat. Like when my father died from gallbladder cancer this past summer. During the final months of his life, he was in and out of the hospital several times, and that was difficult for our entire family, especially as time went on and his condition worsened. City of Heroes provided some much-needed stress relief while I was going through that.
