Thanks for the advice Tonality .. it is much appreciated and what you say seems to have some value .. I will look into it .. it seems the general consensus is that it needs tweaking and there may be scope to incorporate a patron to improve my single target damage .. I will have another twiddle and see if i can make some improvements ..

Hi Guys here is the build for Electric Melee/ Sheild Brute (well in my opinion that is and I agree I may well be wrong about this lol)

Earth/ elec assault for the dom slotted well i can solo @ +3 * man teams no bother
everyone else is right in so far as brutes do it better and quicker ..
my brute of choice is Elec melee/ sheild brute and i can solo him on * man teams +4 diff np's (only weakness is nemesis because of their vengance)
It is up to you but if it is kil kil kill you want EM-Sheild brute is a winner everytime ..if you slot it well .. if you use mids and want a slotting pattern for one let me know

I would love to add my twopenneth worth into the fold .. I been playing with a lvl 50 elec melee/ shields brute and I have been soloing everything on +4/ 8 man teams with the one exception of nemesis as their vengence does not require a hit check and therefore bypasses defence. I have slotted 3 membrane exposures in to increase the defense debuff resistance and I have to say it is outstanding at everything.
I cannot see why you would need to play anything else if you have got it properly slotted you can solo anything (except nemesis )

Dude I am sorry to hear of this .. but rest in the knowledge that I will track them down and visit the full wrath of the Badger Overlords power upon them until they are but a mere veneer on the pavement of life. And when I have finished I will set upon them the full fury and insanity of the Band of Angry Squirrels (who are there to serve only the Badger Overlord), who will do a clean up job, leaving no evidence whatsoever thus protecting all those who participate in this just and righteous REVENGE!

... Or I might stop ranting inanely and say that "Yes! CoH is awsomely theraputic"
